Arpita was singing in her room.Her sweet voice was so pleasant that many neighbours stood by her door.They just loved her sweet voice.After hearing her voice their mind was relived from tensions.Arpita always loved to sang classical songs.She just wanted to rehearse them for many hours.Arpita was enjoying it when her mom entered in room."Arpita it's time for your studying.You must not neglect your studies."Arpita was very frustrated by mom's interruption.Then she looked at watch.She saw that she really spend many hours so she ran towards school bag.She started her homework.She was sincerely studying now.She was very serious about studies.But mom always claimed that because of her singing she ignore her studies.Arpita never wanted to ignore her studies.But sometimes she got so involved in that song that she just forgot outside world.Arpita was very nervous and guilty about that fault.She always wanted to score more in school.She started her homework.Then she began to read her lessons.She was reading them when her younger brother entered in the room.She thought he also began to study like her.But he started dressing to go out.Arpita"Where are you going?""To the film.""What?""Didi do you completely forgot about the film;we all were going to watch?I hope you have finished your homework."Then Arpita remembered that all kids from society were going to watch the film and mom told them that must had to finish homework if they wanted to go.It was an order and Arpita forgot all about it.She was so busy with her singing that she didn't do her homework.Then she suddenly remembered that her younger brother Sohan could not go alone.He was small so he expected her to finish her homework and come with him.After seeing her face Sohan feared the worst.Sohan"Didi you have finished your homework?I hope you are not singing without finishing it.""I will finish it now..""You are too much.You are so selfish.I told you Didi I want to go to film.Still you don't finish your homework.Now Mom will not let me go to film just because of you.I completed my studies.I obeyed her order.But because of you I will get punished.You don't care because it's just cartoon."Arpita couldn't tolerate this blame.She always loved cartoons.She never wanted to miss that movie.She was feeling very sad regarding missing it.But Arpita wanted to finish her homework and go to movie so she didn't stopped to talk to him.Sohan ran to their mom.He was now crying.Arpita could clearly hear his argument.He was convincing mom against her.She wanted to go and tell mom her side.But first she had to finish her homework.She knew her friends had came for movie.Arpita wanted to go with them.But it was already too late.She couldn't able to finish her homework in such a small time.Then her mom came in to the room.Mom"Since you didn't able to finish your homework.I can't let you watch the movie."After hearing this tears started falling from Arpita's eyes."I knew you are feeling sad.I don't want to be harsh with you.But you have to understand importance of disciplines.I just can't let him go,it will be injustice to him.So instead of you I will go to movie and you will have to take care of home.""Mom I will finish the homework after coming from movie.Mom I am sorry just give me one chance.""No.I have you one chance.But instead of using it.You spoiled it.""I am sorry Mom.Please mom just give one more chance.I will not do it again.""Arpita now you are in 8th standard.You have to learn your responsibilities.Until now I always paid attention to watch for you.Today I went with your Auntie to buy tickets for you and what have you done.You didn't finish your homework.Your younger brother was acting more responsible than you.""I am sorry mom.""I can't run after you everyday in your life.You have to learn your responsibilities."Now Arpita had started literally begging to mom for permission.After seeing it mom just couldn't act more harshly.Mom's heart melt and she told Arpita to cahge and go to movie.Mom"But this is your last chance.After this you will no longer spared.I will punish you.""Okay mom.I will finish my homework after movie.I promise you."Arpita said this happily and ran to get ready.Mom smiled.Mom was just doing it because she wanted to show Arpita value of time.She had already bought the tickets and she was never going to waste them.But mom thought after this incidence Arpita would become more attentive.She wanted Arpita to improve her ways and act more maturely.
After movie Arpita had to stay awake to finish her homework which had to be submitted next day in school.Until midnight she continued but still her homework was not finished.Then finally at one o' clock her father asked her"Arpita it is nearly midnight.Now you have to go to sleep.""But Papa I have to finish my homework.""Then why don't you finish it during the day?"Before Arpita could answer him.Mom gave the answer"First she was busy in singing.Then she went to movie."She clearly saw anger in Papa's eyes and he went inside his bedroom to finish his sleep.He also wanted to hide his anger because mom warned Papa against screaming on children.She said"It will create bad impact on their psychology."But Arpita wished at that moment Papa was screaming at her.But she was sure,it wouldn't happen.Papa was totally convinced by mom's thinking so he just left the room while controlling his anger.Then mom said"First finish that homework.But hurry up,you need to sleep at least for six hours."So Arpita sat alone and finally at two o'clock.She finished her homework.Then she went to sleep and that moment she felt her mom might be telling truth.She was not paying proper attention to her studies because of singing.This time she even ignored her younger brother's wishes while singing.She had to do something about it.
Next day at school she was totally exhausted.There were little bit swelling under her eyes due to lack of sleep.Some of her friends asked her about it and she felt whole school was looking at her in a strange way.Arpita just wanted to hide her face.Then worst thing happened she happily showed her homework.But instead of looking at her homework teacher looked at her eyes and started asking her why was the swelling under her eyes.Now whole class was curiously looking at her and she had to confess her guilt before the class."Arpita you shall have to act more responsibly.Just by singing you are not going to achieve anything.You must study first or you will be just a singing beggar on the road.I hope you got my point.Since you finished this homework at night.Look how bad is your handwriting?"She showed Arpita her notebook.But Arpita could not see any defect in her handwriting.Her handwriting was effected but not because of midnight.Teacher had given too much homework and all her classmate's handwriting were effected by it.But Arpita couldn't say anything against her teacher.She just said"Sorry Teacher."Her teacher was happy with her apology and went to next student's notebook.But at that moment a notice came about a inter school music competition.Her teacher suddenly got interested in her music skills and forced her to take part in it.Arpita was very upset after this.She just didn't understand the world.At one hand her teacher was claiming that she would turn in to beggar due to music and on other hand she wanted her to participate in inter school music competition.How did she suppose to perform without practicing?She was very confused.Then after that lecture next teacher came.That teacher seemed to be more interested in singing than teaching.She forced her to sing a song for whole class.At first Arpita was shy to go there.But finally she went towards the blackboard.She stood there and started singing.She started to sing one classical song.She was found of that song.She was in very happy mood.But during her song she suddenly lost all the sense of world and she closed her eyes.She just didn't open her eyes until she finished her song.When she opened them,she clearly saw that many of her classmates were not happy with singing.They began to shouting that she should sing some latest item song or at least film song.All class started telling her.They wanted film songs not those old classical songs.Arpita was very to her bench and started crying.Then teacher told whole class to keep quiet and told everyone to open their books.They all began to open their books.But she could clearly see all her friends were looking at her accusingly.They didn't like her attitude.Crying like this in public was very worst in her eyes.Arpita wished she could able to change her past.
After that Arpita had to practice for competition.Whole school was expecting trophy from her.Until last year every year she won the trophy.At last time she was on vacation so she didn't able to perform and the student performed instead of her didn't manage to come in even first ten.That girl always sang film songs so even after losing Arpita thought she was great.Then one day they all went marriage and Arpita ate everything there.She just loved the ice cream so she ate two plates of it.She was about to eat one more when her mom stopped her.Mom"Arpita what are you doing?do you totally forgot about music competition.She had won it many times.But still she never received any appreciation from her friends.They always called her songs boring so by winning she was going to achieve anything.But teachers and her principal were continuously pressuring her to win so she was tense regarding her failures.Arpita was caught in strange situation.She just was not happy to win.But she couldn't want to suffer from failure so she had to be her best.Arpita felt the ice cream.But then she remembered about all those fried things.She had eaten.She also drank many cold soft drinks.She suddenly got scared,she didn't want her throat to be harmed.After all she needed to sing and singing is part of her life.
But next day her worst fear became truth.She started coughing and her nose was also running.When mom checked she also got temperature.Mom told her to sleep and take rest.She was taken to the doctor.At that moment also mom asked about her throat and told the doctor about her singing competition.Then doctor gave her strong medicines.Those medicines started to cure her throat.But they also started developing nausea and she could not able to eat.Finally her throat infection was cured.All the symptoms of cold had gone.She also started going to school.But Arpita didn't start singing.Her mom waited for some days.Finally her mom asked her"Arpita don't you think you shall have to start practicing now?"After hearing mom's question Arpita looked suddenly pale.Arpita now didn't want to sing.But then she remembered competition and she went to her room.Then she started singing and her coughing began.She just didn't able to sing further.Her mom was very scared after seeing this.Mom told her not to try.Arpita immediately agreed to her mom's suggestion which showed to mom that she was in a acute pains.Then mom personally came to her school and told her principal that her daughter just could not sing because of her medical condition.After that once again the other girl went to competition instead of her.This time she won the trophy.They all congratulated her and they all forgot about Arpita.When that girl won at first Arpita felt little bit of sorrow.But slowly she expected it and she no longer felt interested in singing.But her parents felt exactly opposite.They wanted to see her singing again.They felt it was unfair that even after being best singer Arpita could not able to sing. So they started taking her to many doctors.But all doctors said that nothing was wrong with her.Finally their family doctor suggested that they should take her to psychiatrist.Her Papa"But why?""I think she is pretending it because she don't want to sing."Mom"It's impossible Arpita just love music.She will never do it to avoid it.She always use to rehearsal for hours."Arpita was sitting quietly there.As if they were talking about some one else.Finally they all turned their attention towards her.Arpita said very slowly"It's really hurt."But Mom felt that her daughter was lying.Mom"Then swear on me."Arpita started crying.Before Mom or Papa started screaming on her.Doctor stopped them."It's better if you take her to doctor.Only screaming and punishing her will not help.I suggest you shall take her to doctor."Arpita's parents just nodded.After that they took her to doctor.They told doctor all that happened.Then doctor asked Arpita"So now will you tell me;why did you do it?""Because this singing is creating problems for me.I can't do my studies proper.School forced me to win.But when I sang.They hate classic songs.All my class criticized me.""But why don't you tell your mom and Papa?""Pretending was easy."After saying this she started crying.Doctor"She is suffering from malingering.People from Malinger intentionally produce false or grossly exaggerated physical or psychological symptoms.They are motivated by such incentives as avoiding military duty,avoiding work,obtaining financial compensation etc.In case of your daughter she wanted to avoid singing because she was sure even after winning.She was not going to be appreciated by her classmates so she wanted to stop singing."Mom"But she could have told me."Arpita"You are also after it.When I was sick,you forced doctor to give me strong medicines.""I did because I thought you want it."There was heat in conversation so doctor stopped them.After that Arpita went to psychiatrist for some days.Then one day she began to sang at home.Her mom was very happy.After some times her mom heard alarm so Arpita set alarm.She should not ignore her studies.One day their neighbour came to their home and requested to them that Arpita should sing for his charity function.Mom was finding reason to avoid it.But Arpita came and said yes.Then she smiled at mom and said"Mom you are right.I just love singing.But now on I will sing just for myself not for success."And she returned to her studies.
