Staying in home
Weather was looking so great on every point. When Pallavi looked out of window. She sensed that she wanted to go out. She just always looked that different weather. It was so strange that whenever storm was forecast. Everyone went inside home. But Pallavi always wanted to go out. She always had strange sort of fascination for storms. Even today when she heard noise of wind and she felt that storm was approaching. She ran towards window. In hope that she could see that storm. That was so hard for life. When she heard those noises which were giving her sense that storm was approaching. Then there was loud noise near window. It was clear that storm was approaching and Pallavi wanted to see this. She was in her new house. House of her in-laws!! She had stayed until now in her husband's house. In neutral family she was so happy to stay there. Since her husband Rakesh used to work in different city. She had to work hard to settle her house. She did every thing just to set things right way in house. She had to settle things in her house. She managed it in best way. But during this she hardly had any time to meet her in laws. She had settled perfectly. Then finally after some time Rakesh got vacation. Pallavi was so excited. She wanted to stay with her in-laws. Every one was taunting her regarding it. She had feel that every one felt one thing that she took away her husband from his parents. She never wanted it. She was always ready to stay in joint family. She started living in neutral family due to Rakesh's job. It was leading to lot of troubles. She wanted to live happily with big family. But it didn't happen so she adjusted in life. In return she got just criticism. Now she wanted to stay with her in-laws and convince them that they should stay with them. She was so happy. Until now she had not got much time with her mother-in-law since she was busy in kitchen. Pallavi helped her in kitchen. But kitchen didn't seem a good place to convince such things. She was waiting for right moment. On that stressed time storm seemed like relief to her. She ran to window to watch it. But she was shocked when she tried to open them but she just couldn't able to. Those windows were locked in such a hard way. That she just couldn't able to open. She was so confused. Those windows were locked permanently. She just didn't understand that how could any one keep themselves locked like that. She sensed that they never opened those windows. She knew one thing that something was totally wrong. She couldn't understand that how could any one keep those windows locked in life. She knew that she had to discuss this. But then she suddenly thought that it was possible that some animal could come from those windows like cat or dog or worst rats. She decided that she must not become prejudice like that. She felt there must be reason.
Pallavi just kept hearing that sound. She decided that she had to ask her mother-in-law.When she went in kitchen ,she started helping in making dinner. she boiled vegetables just as per her mother-in-law's instructions. Then slowly she asked " Why do you locked those windows?" Her mother-in-law looked at her with anger. It was clear that she didn't like Pallavi's question. Pallavi didn't want to upset her so Pallavi just decided to keep quiet. Pallavi started cooking food but then her mother-in-law spoke "We keep it shut due to fear of storm. Few years ago a big storm came in one village. It had destroyed all building. It was worst. There was a nice family staying there. In that house." Pallavi guessed house which indicated by her mother-in-law. "Whole family was staying happily. But then suddenly storm came every one got killed. Due to wind glasses of windows were broken and they went inside their body. Worst condition was of their youngest child. His whole body was full of glasses. That boy kept crying whole time. His screams were surrounding whole village.But people were in their own trouble. No one able to come for help until finally help arrive. By then that boy was in such horrible condition that it was useless to take him. Finally they just gave him strong painkiller and he died in that condition only. Other family member were also horribly hurt. His mother was looking so worst that she had to hide her face for whole life. His father was brain damaged due to those glasses. It is just sample that storm had created so many horrible stories that if you heard them then you will have nightmare. So I am not telling you."My god!!When did it happened? I have not seen it in paper and Rakesh never mentioned it." "It was before birth of Rakesh." "Ohh!! You must have suffered on that time. It must be hard to set up your home once again." Pallavi always noticed that her father-in-law loved to read but even when he read,he didn't open window. He used tube light in that place. Pallavi didn't like this rule but she didn't dare to complain. She wanted to understand her in-laws and their rules. She wanted to convince them to come out of their hole and meet world in grand way. But she was sure that it was not going to be easy for them. Those who didn't let new air enter in their life where hardly seem to be some one who were ready to change their life. But Pallavi had decided in heart that she would try as hard as possible. She just felt one thing that she would win one day.

But still they used those locks. But on that day Pallavi just wanted to go out so she took many hours to understand that lock. Finally she managed to open it. When she went out, she felt so fresh. Until now she just didn't understand two days of indoor life had created such a worst effect on her. She never sensed that it was killing her from inside. But as soon as she let that air came inside, she felt so fresh. She just felt one thing that house needed air. But then her mother-in-law's voice came who screamed that she must close door. Her mother-in-law was so upset by that. Anger was so strong that Pallavi immediately closed that door. That house looked like some cage from outside. She suddenly wanted to run away from that house. She knew that she forced Rakesh to come here. Now she could easily see the reason for which Rakesh wanted to stay away. She saw one strange thing after coming here Rakesh stopped chatting freely with any one. He looked so tense. But she couldn't able to do anything regarding it. Then she thought that she must quit thinking about her since she came out, she decided to wander in town. She had never walked around that town. She wanted to look around. She never wished that since she wanted to make friendship with in-laws not a fight so she decided to wander alone. When she started to move around that town, she felt that it was so wonderful. She looked around every part look so lovely. Then she reached to market. She saw vegetables. They were so fresh and cheap than those which were supplied to them. She sensed one thing that her in-laws were cheated by that man. Then she began to talk with vendor. Slowly that vendor asked "Are you new here?" "Yes. But my husband used to stay here from childhood. He had just shifted in city for job." That vendor looked confused. Vendor "I am staying here from my birth. Just tell me one thing where you stay and I will tell every thing about you." That Vendor smiled. He said as if he was just magician. Pallavi liked it so she told him about her house. He looked at that house. He looked so confused. He just said one thing "People from that house never come out." Then he just gave her vegetables.

He must had followed her out of concern. Rakesh "Where were you? I was searching for you all around town." "I was buying some vegetables." "Great. They looked so fresh. I am so bored due to those stale vegetables. I needed fresh one. " Pallavi smiled. They started walking towards their house. They started looking at that house carefully. Then Pallavi asked him "I am your wife. Can't you tell me about that house. I am getting curious. Why don't we keep those windows open? Why do we keep those doors locked? I want to know things. This is all so strange at every point." Rakesh "My parents wanted to live more secure life that's all." "Nonsense. Don't lie to me. I want to hear just truth that's all." Then my father was no longer interested in meeting people so he willingly agreed with Mom's fear of nature. " "How can you manage to stay like that? " There was tears in Rakesh's eyes. Rakesh "Actually it was not easy even for me to go out. It was not as if my father was just corrupt person. There were lot of people who acted in that way. But when my father was caught, they became abusive towards us all and started pretending as if they were all saint. It was hard for me so I just stayed indoor until I didn't become big enough to go in college and after college I had just changed my place. Now every thing was fine in my eyes. " Pallavi "But it is not right. " "I know. But how can I turn it into some thing right? It seem as if some thing totally impossible to do. My parents didn't want to come out. They just wanted to spend their whole life inside like some strange cursed creatures of fairy tale and I couldn't convince them. " Rakesh started crying and Pallavi sat near him. Pallavi "But all this was past. Your parents need to get over it now. Don't you feel it?" "But I am their son how can I..""Stop this Rakesh. You are their son so you have to be responsible for them at every point. You need to understand that this was not easy for them or you. But you have to help them. You are their only hope. Pallavi tried to convince her that Psychiatrist would not do that but she just started screaming it. It became worst finally.Her mother-in-law ordered them to get out of house. But then her father-in-law spoke who was just keeping quiet " I feel that I want to visit one." Mother-in-law "What? Are you mad? " "You are right. I feel that I am. Why else I will lock myself like that? I want to visit Psychiatrist and I suggest you that you must do same. But at end it is up to you." Then her father-in-law went in his room. Rakesh phoned their family Doctor who was very willing to suggest a psychiatrist. It seemed as if he was waiting for Rakesh to ask. Then they took appointment. But Rakesh's mother was not ready to come. They went to Psychiatrist. Then Rakesh's father talked with him. Rakesh's father was so happy when he came out. Rakesh's father thanked them both from heart. After that day he started taking morning walk then he even started making friendship with other elderly people. Slowly he became normal. He started keeping windows open. But his wife forced him to shut them immediately. It was so hard for them all. But slowly step by step Rakesh's father convinced his mother to visit that psychiatrist. He told her that how nice he had felt and she noticed that every one was admiring him. No one was called him mad. Finally she one day told that she wanted go to psychiatrist but she was sacred to go out. Then they finally convinced Psychiatrist to come home. Then Psychiatrist talked with her in details. Finally he came out and told them "Actually she was suffering from Astraphobia which was specific phobia regarding storm, thunder, lightening. But she just kept telling stories of storm and kept in house due to which it developed into Agoraphobia fear of even leaving house. Actually since Rakesh's father at same time developed social phobia due to guilt lead it to worst situation. But don't worry. It will be cured." Rakesh " But I have to return to my job." Pallavi "Don't worry I will stay." Rakesh smiled so happily and Pallavi felt one thing that now she won her husband fully. She knew that he would never stop feeling gratitude towards her. She decided that she would ask for that diamond necklace on this Diwali and she was sure that she would get it. After all she was a selfish woman. She did every thing because she wanted her parents in her in-laws and she got them. But she knew that Rakesh still felt gratitude towards her so she would get that jewelry. She smiled happily that finally she settled in her husband's house with her in-laws. She was proud of it.
