Desire of grandchild
Ajit was
planning to purchase wonderful gift this time for his mom. He was planning to
give new touch to entire idea. His mom was widow. She took much good care of
him. Now he was grown up. But his job was not that good. He never able to
purchase nice jewelry for his mom. It was sad & frustrating for him. He
wanted to gift something nice for her. He was saving some amount. But on that
point his mom began to search for daughter-in-law. He tried to convince his mom
to wait for sometime but his mom managed to trick him. One day when he went to
his cousin’s wedding. He met Rita. Rita was simple, beautiful & sweet girl.
She was perfect for him. She understood his financial issues. She was even
ready to handle all. She was so happy to meet him. Her family was not taking
proper care of her. Her family was acting in such wrong way towards her. She
was feeling negative about entire life but when Ajit began to talk with her, she
began to feel little bit positive. He felt so sad for her. She was nice girl.
Actually, her beauty was tempting too. He didn’t like her so much at first look
since he had decided to not get married. Ajit even smiled to himself today when
he remembered his first meeting with Rita. Her nervousness & his negative
attitude towards marriage both were wrong but still it turned out positive for
them. They smiled & laughed together. He didn’t want to get married but
still he didn’t want to lose Rita. After Rita left his mom came to him &
said “I know you want to give luxuries to me. I like comfortable life too. But
it was hard to get a daughter-in-law like Rita. If you get wrong type of wife,
it will be worst for me.” He suddenly understood what his mom was telling. He
said “You are right. I like Rita.” He felt so positive. He wanted nice wife. It
was important for her. He began to feel hopeful about everything. He called
Rita to discuss next meeting. After that soon they got married. Rita was
housewife. She managed his house in best way. Rita always took care of his mom
just like her own mother. His mom was always happy. But he knew that he
couldn’t afford to give big gifts. He wanted to give some nice gifts. Then they
began to plan for children but sadly they didn’t have any children. His mom
began to get upset due to it. So his mom decided to go & did some prayers
in their village temple. His mom was hoping some one would tell some ritual but
no one suggested anything. They all told her to accept destiny. Ajit was happy
with Rita but his mom started to get irritated. He was so shocked with change.
Rita began to get angry with his mom too. His mom was taunting Rita again &
again. It was so frustrating. Finally, his mom decided to go back in village.
She started to stay near temple. He kept sending money to his mom but his mom
never answered him at all.
But now Ajit was preparing gift for
mom. He knew that his mom was angry but still he felt that it was temporary
anger. She would forget it when she would meet him. He knew that his mom was
not talking to him. Still, he decided to prepare one big gift for her. He
selected one nice necklace. He began to feel his mom would like it. He started
to feel positive about all. He took vacation from his office to go in village.
He was observing today Rita was not coming in room or talking to her. He knew
that Rita didn’t want to say anything. He decided to go in her room & talk
with her for last time to convince her to come with him. He saw Rita was busy in
dusting their room. “Rita, are you certain that you don’t want to visit mom in
village?” He was still hopeful. Rita gave him sad look & said “No. I have
one appointment with Doctor.” “About what? Are you sick?” He tried to check her
fever but she went behind. She said slowly “I had this enough. I want to move
ahead in my way.” “But we are moving ahead & I thought…” “I am not happy
with you. I tolerated all just because I wanted to adjust. My parents never
supported me. I was helpless & you used it.” “What are you saying? I
thought you love me.” “I don’t. I want a child & I feel you can’t give me
one.” He was so shocked. “Are you blaming me?” “If your mom can blame me then I
can blame you too. I want divorce.” “Rita, I thought you love me you are
happy.” “No. I am not.” He took deep breath & said “Okay fine. Is it okay
if we begin it after I came back from village?” She nodded. “Fine with me.” He
slowly asked “Since you want to go why you are dusting? Just pack your bags. I
will close this house.” She looked towards him with anger. She threw away
everything on floor. She started packing her bags. He didn’t understand what
exactly she was doing before. He didn’t question her. He permitted her to go
away. After this conversation he didn’t want to stay with her. She wanted
another man as husband in her life then she could do that. He didn’t want to be
got blamed for dragging her in pain. He didn’t say anything. He just kept
watching her as she packed all her favorite things. When she went out, he
checked his refrigerator. He needed to lock it too. He took out everything
& distributed it to security guards. He told them that house would be empty
for few days. They nodded. He kept everything clean. He didn’t want any damage
to his flat. When he went out, he looked towards his flat. He decided that he
needed to sell it. He didn’t want those memories. But he couldn’t do it
suddenly. He decided to do it step by step.
When Ajit sat in train, he began to
think about his life. He went in totally wrong way. He didn’t want to marry
still he married Rita since he felt she was perfect. His mom told him that. His
mom changed her opinion when she didn’t have grandchildren. He couldn’t change
it like that. When his mom changed opinion Rita changed her opinion too. He was
only one who remained with same opinion. He kept watching out of train window.
Every scene on outside was changing. When train moved, he began to feel relaxed,
he started to think going back was right thing. He shouldn’t have married to her.
It was big mistake. But it was not too late to improve it. He decided to call
his mom. “Mom Rita was asking for divorce.” His mom didn’t say anything for
some time. Then she said “It was my mistake. I should have forced that marriage
on you.” He wanted to blame her. But he didn’t. He just said “Let’s find some
lawyer.” His mom nodded. It was village but it was his village when he began to
discuss people gave him suggestions. Most of the villagers were trying to tell
him to give her chance but when he explained all. They suggested best lawyer of
village. He knew that he was no longer interested in going back so he visited
that lawyer only. His lawyer suggested to avoid argument & gave divorce
peacefully. He knew that it was hard. Rita wanted to argue. He could sense it
in her tone but he didn’t want to hide it. “I want to make it peacefully but I don’t know what she
will wish.” Lawyer told him to call her. He was not certain that she would take
his call. He slowly gave her number to lawyer. “I am not certain that she would
take my call.” “OH!” Then lawyer called her. She took his call. When lawyer
explained her everything, she seemed to agree with lawyer. Lawyer said “No need
to worry. She is willing.” He smiled happily. He was expecting to feel
depressed but that night he slept peacefully. He didn’t understand what was
happening to him. He loved his wife still he was feeling happy when she left
him. But his mom was paying full attention to him. His mom was tense. He was
watching his mom. His mom was not acting normal. She kept writing something
again & again. He wanted to know what she was wring but whenever he came
near her, he immediately began to stop it. His mom smiled nervously towards him
& said “It was my mistake. I must correct it.” He didn’t understand what she
was talking about. He felt negative & sad about all. “Mom it was not your
mistake. You need to stop blaming yourself.” His Mom smiled & nodded. But
he saw one strange look in his mom’s eyes. Something was not normal. But he
didn’t say anything. He just decided to accept her decision. He smiled
nervously & said “I am getting divorced. She is not arguing for anything.
She just wanted divorce. She didn’t even insist for house.” His mom didn’t say
anything. His mom kept writing. He decided that his mom understood his point
& she was not happy about it. He felt so sad. He tried his best to smile
but nothing was working. It was entering in one problem after another. He knew
that his wife would divorce him soon. In fact, on that day Rita called him
& talked nicely with him. Rita just wanted way out of their marriage. She
was planning to start her career. He didn’t ask about her career since he
didn’t care about her personal life. He was very happy that finally his divorce
was going ahead peacefully. He didn’t want argument. He told villagers about
it. He was shocked when they began to suggest remarriage. He was not in hurry.
But soon one lady from neighbourhood started to tell him that he needed to keep
some one for his mom. He didn’t understand then when he asked she told him that
his mom was trying to convince little children of neighbourhood to call her
grandmother & call Ajit their father. This was shocking. He decided to take
his mom to psychiatrist. He felt lucky that no one misunderstood him. But
entire village knew that he was staying in city. But it was horrible in his
eyes. He decided that his mother needed psychiatrist. He told his mom that it
was physical check-up. His mom was no longer sharp enough to understand it. His
mom nodded in agreement. He was happy that his mom agreed to go with him
willingly. It was important for him. When they went to psychiatrist, Mom
started talking. He sensed that listening to mom was painful for him. Mom kept
talking about his children who were not born. Psychiatrist looked towards him
& told him to go out. He felt relaxed outside. Then after sometime he was
called inside. Psychiatrist suggested a treatment & medicines. He slowly
asked “It happened since we don’t have children?” Psychiatrist smiled &
said “No. It happened since your mom wanted everything to be perfect. If you
had children, she might have found something else imperfect don’t blame yourself.”
Slowly after treatment his mom began to improve. She began to take interest in
cooking. He was tense about divorce but everything went in nice way. When he
came home, his mom said with smile “It is issue of luck & bad luck. If you don’t
have good life partner in life you can’t get it. She wanted children I am glad
you got divorced.” He smiled happily. First time his mom didn’t want grandson
or granddaughter. He sensed that his mom was truly cured.
