Adventure story. 748. Isha's birthday gift

                             Isha's birthday gift 

Ajay was studying books carefully. He wanted one which tell him about pets. He had new friend in college who was interested in it. He was never fond of pets. But he never disliked them too. He felt that he could encourage her more. Actually, this was his new college friend. He was just friend but he already began to hope for more than just friendship. He knew that Isha would not have those feelings but he felt that she would develop them. Ajay went with Isha one day to help her to arrange things. Ajay was so exhausted but he didn’t tell it. He went inside to help her when Isha’s brother Tarun came ahead. Ajay felt that he would take things out of his hand. But Tarun didn’t. Tarun just pointed him place where he supposed to keep them. He was feeling so upset. He was not expecting that kind of treatment from Tarun. He was helping Isha. Ajay thought that Tarun would admire him but instead of it. Tarun was indirectly treating him like some personal servant. He didn’t show anything on face. He kept arranging all. Ajay still remembered how hard he worked on that day. He was so exhausted at end of that day.  He was so angry. He was expecting little bit help but all treated him like some servant. He decided in his heart that he wouldn’t come to help Isha any more. He knew that Isha was not in love but she was at least expected to treat him like friend. But she treated him like servant. Finally in end of day Tarun smiled & talked with him. Tarun gave him some tasty snacks from restaurant & said with smile “You worked so hard you deserve this.” He smiled back. He was so happy. Then Tarun said “Actually Isha was not in good mood since her pet dog died.” “What? She had a pet. She told me that she disliked pet.” “Of course. After death of her pet dog, she began to dislike pet.” “Oh!” “But I get one on her birthday.” Then Tarun gave him a nice innocent smile & asked “Why don’t you get one book regarding taking care of pets for her?” “Me?!” “Of course! Who else? Do you see anyone?” Once again Tarun went back to his original angry mood. He didn’t like it. He decided to agree with Tarun. But somewhere in mind Ajay was planning to bring some beautiful dress or ornament. But then Ajay felt that he didn’t know size perfectly to purchase dress then he knew that he couldn’t purchase real jewellery & Isha never used artificial one. She developed allergy due to artificial jewellery. He decided that it was better to just buy one book on pet. So, he was today in this book store to purchase a book. He smiled happily when he saw wonderful pictures of dogs on book. He didn’t know which dog Tarun would get but he hoped that Isha would love that dog. He purchased one book then he even purchased one dog toy for that dog. He was so happy. He felt. He was so wise & he took perfect gift for Isha. He told shop keeper to pack gift properly. He observed that gift paper had red hearts. He couldn't stop smiling. He was already in his dreamworld.

         Ajay was so excited when Isha began to invite friends for her birthday party. She was inviting them all one by one. He was expecting that she would come to him immediately. But she was not coming to him. He sensed that he was not special friend. He was just one friend out of many. He felt so sad. He wanted to feel that he was special but it was clear that it was not happening. Then slowly she finally came to him. Isha smiled & said “I hope you will come early. I might need some help with decoration.” She didn’t give him any invitation. She just said this & went away. He felt hurt but then he thought that he might like family to her so she didn’t give invitation. She invited him like family member early to help her. He smiled at this thought. It was clearly interesting. He planned to come early with his gift. He suddenly remembered that dog. He sensed that dog must be already in house. He smiled happily. On that special day Ajay got ready with excitement. He got dressed when he received call from Isha. Isha “You don’t need to come home. I will give one small party in college time to college friends in canteen. I will not invite them for party at home.” He felt so deserted now. He decided to object but then he rejected that idea. He felt so hurt. He began to feel that she was not interested in him. Now he got that book as gift. He was so confused. He slowly asked “So Tarun would be at home now?” “Yes!” He smiled happily. Then he continued hopefully “Did Tarun gave you, his gift?” Isha said in happy voice “Of course! He is such wonderful brother. World’s best brother!” He felt so relieved so she loved Tarun’s dog. Ajay felt relaxed. Ajay “See you on your birthday party.” Ajay decided that he did right thing by just purchasing that book. It was simple gift. He knew that many of his friends were already suspecting his feelings towards Isha. Now if they decided to see gift it would be just normal one. No one would feel that he showed any love towards her. He felt so alone & upset. He knew that he had his parents & his family. But still his brother already began to talk about his marriage. He knew all his cousins were planning to date girls. He was alone without girlfriend. He wanted someone. But then he felt that he needed to forget. Isha was not suitable for him. He knew that he was permitting his ego to rule his heart. He needed to wait. He got ready in more reasonable dress for college. He was so upset. He was not called for birthday in home so it was clear that he was not wanted. Isha didn’t like him.

            Ajay came in his classroom. He noticed that Isha was already in classroom. He sensed that she was talking to all. She was looking so beautiful. He wanted to keep watching her. He felt so sad. He wanted to hold her & express his love. But he knew that she was not in love with him. He couldn’t show his love. He gave her pleasant smile. She gave stressed look. She was not much happy to see him. It was so sad. She clearly disliked him. He tried so hard to accept that rejection but still he felt hurt. He was not certain that it was just ego. He sometimes felt that he might fall in love with her. He was in blind love. It would lead him to destruction. He began to tell himself that he needed to get over this empty attraction. He felt so upset. He wanted to feel neutral about all. But he was obsessed with her. He kept observing her slowly then she finally gave that party invitation to him. He felt so hurt. It was not on card. She just said “You can come in canteen today for party.” “Oh! It’s okay.” He took out his hand with hope to get invitation for party in evening too. But she just shook hands with him. He felt so frustrated. He decided that he wanted to show no regret so he gave big smile. As soon as she went away his friends came beside him & asked “So what did you gift her?” “Nothing so costly.” They laughed. Clearly all were thinking that he would buy something super costly for her. He didn’t. He felt so happy. He bought just book. Then in college recess they all went in canteen for birthday party. They all gathered. He was already in them. He managed to mix like one of them. He made certain about one thing. No one would consider him different or special friend. He smiled & gave his gift. She accepted it & placed it with remaining nothing special about him. She felt so upset when he came near her when she began to cut cake. It was clear that she preferred him away from her. He felt so nervous. He began to feel as if he was obsessed with her. He slowly went away. Then he ate whatever snacks offered & went in back in classroom. He didn’t wait. He was not interested in watching anything entertainment they planned. He knew that it would be something small. In that recess it was impossible to do any big event. But he was shocked when she returned to classroom. He felt that she might had come to invite him back. But then he sensed that she was not smiling. He was about to ask “What happened?”  when she slapped him so hard that he fell on bench. He got hurt on forehead. He felt so much pain. He didn’t understand what was happening. This seemed like something out of cheap TV drama. He didn’t feel that was real. But that pain was real. She was even kicking him. All his friends were trying to stop her. She was just screaming one thing “He showed me dogs. He is evil. He wanted to harm me.” He didn’t understand anything. Finally, they dragged her away. He immediately went to sickroom of college. One Doctor was called. Principal came in room as soon as Doctor started treating him. Principal said “Doctor is he fine?” “He is okay but who hit him this way? Did college boys had some argument?” “No…no it was one girl with mental issues. She had phobia of dogs & this boy showed her pictures to tease.” Ajay was shocked. Ajay “No Sir! Her brother told me that she loved dogs. Her dog died so she was sad. I bought it to please her.” Principal gave him angry look. One thing was clear to Ajay that no one was going to believe him. Ajay felt so sad. Ajay tried his best to tell truth but no one believed him in college. Finally, he had enough. He tolerated unofficial boycott of college students for that year. Then he changed college. He got so depressed that he needed mental treatment himself. He told all to Psychiatrist. Psychiatrist “I don’t feel that girl just had dog phobia she hit you not that dog in picture. If she had phobia she should have kept shivering screaming. But she came calmly after you. I don’t know her issue but it was something serious than dog phobia. Trust me. It’s better if you keep away from her. You are suffering from depression due to that trauma we can handle it but stay away from her.” Ajay nodded. Ajay thought that Isha wouldn’t call him again. Psychiatrist’s warning was meaningless. But Isha call him after sometime. He didn’t take her call. He felt so scared. Then his friend called him to tell that she was calling for apology. Her brother Tarun confessed to her. But Ajay didn’t believe it. Ajay was not sure but he began to think that she might have told Tarun to do that. Ajay didn’t understand why but she was after harassing him. Ajay avoided her calls. He kept away from her. After sometime she stopped harassing him. But Ajay would never forget that time of his life. He was happy that Psychiatrist warned him. It managed to save his lots of troubles.
