Searching for sound of birds
Sarika began
to listen to sound of birds. She felt so confused in her mind. She knew that
bird was supposed to sang on that time. She loved sound of bird. She just
couldn’t imagine life without them. But today birds didn’t come. She didn’t
understand what was happening. It was so scary for her mind. She needed to hear
sound of birds. It was really pleasant one. She kept feeling positive by that
sound every time. She knew that those birds would help her to keep positivity.
She needed to hear them for hours. She wanted to enjoy wonderful feeling due to
that sound. She kept feeling hopeful due to them. She could see those pretty
birds on tree branches. She wanted to fly with them. She smiled happily even by
sound of those birds. She began to form pleasant song in her mind. It was her
every day routine. But today she didn’t hear them at all. She felt so lonely.
Her life was stuck on that point. She kept listening to music of those birds.
She was feeling so positive but now those birds were missing. She began to get
lonely in her heart. She didn’t understand how could those birds stop coming.
When she kept searching in sky, she was so upset. On that time voice of Pratap
came from behind. “Sarika! Where are you?” She knew that she needed to do
cooking. Pratap was going in office very soon. She needed to fill his tiffin
with9 tasty food. It was her important duty. She knew that she had to do all
that work. She would be just burden on family if she didn’t do it. It was sort
of upsetting. She was working so hard for hours but it was not helping them
that much. She was just exhausting herself for nothing. She felt so sad by this
feeling. She didn’t understand why did she had to be so useless. She could be
useful too. She told herself that everything would be just fine. She just
needed to remain positive. She ran in kitchen. Pratap smiled towards her. He
didn’t scream on her when she became late. But still she felt so nervous. He
just gave her one sweet smile. But still it was frightening for her. She felt
so nervous. She immediately ran to refrigerator. She began to remove essential
things one by one. She carefully arranged them on Kitchen platform & then
she began to cook. Pratap was watching her carefully whole time. She knew that
he wouldn’t criticize her. He would be careful to answer her properly. She
needed to keep positivity. She knew that she got best husband. She took out her
measurement cups & spoons. Then she carefully began to measure it. She
needed to make it properly. It was very important for her. She needed to cook
things perfectly. Pratap was observing her every action. He was paying full
attention to her. He knew that he needed to keep control on her. He never
screamed on her. But he knew that she was scared of him. He didn’t mind it at
all. It was good in his eyes. He wanted his wife to remain in his hold. She
must not enjoy full freedom. She needed to serve him properly. After all he was
one who was earning. She needed to keep it in her mind.
Pratap was observing Sarika. She was
doing all in perfect way. He knew that he wanted her to be careful regarding
all. He was not going tolerate any wastage by her. She needed to measure all
& keep it properly. He knew that she was doing it nicely. He wanted to her
to stay as per his wishes & she was doing it. He knew that she was
shivering. He didn’t understand cause. He asked her “What happened Sarika? Are
you alright?” She gave nervous smile to him. She said slowly “I wanted to see
birds.” “So? Go in window & see them.” “But they are missing.” “Oh!” Pratap
gave her confused look. “I don’t understand so birds are not around & that
is something which is upsetting you so much!” “Yes.” She began to feel little
relaxed. She started to think that he understood everything. It was great news.
Now he would understand her feelings. It was sort of relaxing. Then he smiled
& said “It’s due to weather. Weather is not good now a days so birds are
vanishing. We can’t do anything about it. Very sad.” Then he returned his
attention to mobile & said “I got message from Boss. Will you hurry up
little bit?” He once again smiled sweetly. She nodded & began to cook. Soon
she managed to get ready his tiffin. Then she began to do his breakfast. She
needed to do all for him first. She could do her breakfast & other things
of morning later. She needed to do all for him. It was important. She sensed it
from heart. She wanted to find birds in sky. She sensed that those birds were
important to her. She kept watching in sky for hours for long time. She started
to feel so upset. She sensed for Pratap those birds were not so important. She
began to think about others. She began to sense those birds wouldn’t be
important for any of them. She was only one who needed birds. She felt so much
pain in her soul. She kept looking with hope towards Pratap. She was getting so
stressed. But Pratap didn’t show any emotions.
She kept feeling negative towards all. She decided to concentrating on
packing lunch & cooking breakfast. Finally, all was over. Pratap looked
towards her & said “Why you are looking so sad?” She smiled. It was not
natural. She said sweetly “I was just tense about getting right sort of taste
in food.” Pratap smiled. Suddenly he began to feel so guilty. She was such kind
hearted woman. He was acting to harsh. He said “No worries. If Lunch took to so
much efforts, I will start eating from canteen…” “No! Don’t do that. I will
wake up earlier.” He was so shocked. His sentence turned in wrong way. “I never
blamed you for being late.” “I know…” She felt so scared. Her every word was
coming out wrong. She just wished only if she could see birds in sky. She
wanted to smile in life again. She said slowly “I just want to see birds
again.” Pratap was so shocked. She was talking about birds again & again.
He never admired birds so much but he never hated them too. He knew that she
watched birds sometimes but he never thought. Her obsession would turn in such complicated
way. He decided to take it lightly so he smiled & said “Oh! You like birds
then you can go in balcony after sometime they would come. She smiled happily.
Suddenly he took interest in birds too. Pratap was no longer interested in
controlling her. He just wanted her to feel happy. He went in his room to get
ready. He thought everything was normal. He didn’t feel that birds would lead
to such big trouble.
Sarika was so happy that she was
permitted to watch birds after doing her work. In her house she used to watch
them for hours. She needed to do her studying before. She always used to study
properly for hours. Her marks were nice but they were never enough for her
parents. They wanted her to be proved topper. Then only she could get rich man
to marry. She tried hard but she couldn’t get excellent marks. She worked for
hours to get them. It was so important for her.
She needed to study for hours. But still she got just limited marks. She
worked so hard to find suitable man. Her parents kept pressuring her to find
one very soon. Finally, one day Pratap asked her for date. They got connected
through one internet site. It was nice chance. She took it & she married
Pratap. She knew that Pratap was nice man but she also knew that he wanted to
dominate her. His family & friends kept advising him. He never screamed on
her but her parents did. They always screamed on her. She could see Pratap’s
friends doing same with their spouses. She was so scared. One day they arranged
party in one hotel. All Pratap’s friends were invited. She was so happy. Pratap
introduced one man as his best friend. His best friend was with wife. Sarika
was happy to get connected with her but soon she saw marks on her body.
Pratap’s best friend’s wife was trying to do hide them but she knew that
Pratap’s best friend was hitting his wife. She shivered. She didn’t want same
for her. But she kept feeling one thing. Her parents didn’t want her back.
Pratap’s best friend was hitting his wife. One day Pratap would surely do same
with her. She didn’t want to be beaten by her husband. She began to get so
nervous. She once again went towards window & start searching for birds.
She didn’t find any in sky. She was feeling so nervous. She didn’t want Pratap
to hit her. If those birds kept coming he wouldn’t. She just kept moving ahead
in balcony. Slowly she even started to stand on railing. It was strong one. She
was certain that it wouldn't fall. She just needed to see that bird. She was so
tense. She didn’t even felt fear of falling down on ground from seventh floor.
She just wanted to see bird.
Security person was watching around when
one man came running towards him & said “That madam from seventh floor is
trying to jump from balcony.” “What?” “Come with me.” Security person ran
towards point where that man was pointing. He could see that Madam was standing
on railing. He didn’t understand why. He tried to scream but he knew that Madam
couldn’t hear on seventh floor. He was so scared. He looked towards WhatsApp. He
was Pratap’s number in it. He immediately called him. “Sir, Madam is trying to
jump.” “What?” “Let me show you.” Then
he recorded it. Pratap was so shocked. He didn’t say anything. He just ran out
of office while telling all it was emergency. He didn’t tell anyone but by that
time it was already recorded & shared by many. All were saying Sarika was
doing suicide. But Sarika was laughing since she finally managed to see few
birds. She didn’t come in her senses & she didn’t even sense she was on
corner. It was worst for all those who were watching. Pratap literally ran
towards lift with all. He opened door & ran inside. Many people came with
him. Pratap screamed “What are you doing? Come down.” Sarika turned around. She
was about to fall when she caught pillar & then she immediately came down.
It was so confusing. She slowly said “I was just watching the birds.” He was so angry. “What’s wrong with you? How could you behave this way?” Sarika looked
around & asked “What happened?” Pratap was looking so angry. She never saw
him that angry. Slowly tears started to fall out of her eyes. Pratap felt so
nervous. He showed her clips which were claiming she was doing suicide. Soon
Cops came forward too. They started asking questions. She kept telling she was
looking for birds. Finally Cops turned to Pratap & said “Tell us truth. Do
you have arguments with each other?” Both said no together. All people from
society nodded. One neighbor said “She have strange obsession with birds. She came
to my house to visit my caged birds at least 20 times once. My wife felt so
shocked. We want to suggest Pratap a visit of psychiatrist for Sarika but then
we felt…” Cop completed sentence “He will take in wrong way. Come on! Look at
her. She was standing on that corner. She could have died.” Pratap immediately
asked “Can you recommend one?” Cop nodded & gave one contact number of
psychiatrist. Pratap immediately called before Cop when they fixed appointment.
Cop left. Sarika didn’t say anything. Sarika tried her best to control her
desire to watch birds but she kept doing it. Finally, time of appointment came.
Pratap explained. Then Pratap went out & Sarika talked with psychiatrist. Then
Psychiatrist called Pratap back. Psychiatrist “Actually Sarika’s parents were
not so nice towards her. Her childhood went in atmosphere of fear so she felt
tense. After marriage she was nervous then she saw your best friend is beating
his wife…” Pratap “What? He is! Sarika never told me.” He looked towards Sarika
with shock. Sarika “I am sorry. I shouldn’t have said but Doctor said…” “No.
You should have told me. I shouldn’t have invited him in our house. I shouldn’t
have taken his advices.” Sarika looked towards him with shock. Pratap was so
angry. Pratap “How can someone treat wife like that?” Sarika started crying
slowly. She was glad that she married to nice man. Pratap confessed “I wanted
to control my wife but not this way & it was idea of my best friend. Now I
want Sarika just to be happy. I don’t want to control her any more. I just want
my wife alive & safe.” Pratap didn’t want to cry but he couldn’t control
tears. Psychiatrist slowly patted on his shoulder & said “Don’t worry. She
will be fine.” Sarika & Pratap both smiled happily. First time they began
to sense how much they love each other on that point they became true husband
& wife who needed each other for entire life & forever.
