Husband's hidden skill
Disha was observing very carefully the way her husband Rishi was setting things in kitchen. She was so astonished. He was so good at cooking. She never managed that much. She wanted to admire him but she knew that he might not like it. He didn’t want anyone to know about his cooking skills. He was such wonderful cook still he kept hiding it. He wanted to hide everything. She never understood why. But she kept his word. Rishi smiled towards her & said “Just taste this.” She immediately took taste of curry. It was so wonderful. She felt so positive due to that taste. It was so refreshing. She never felt food could be so positive for emotions but Rishi was such excellent cook that she felt refreshed whenever she took taste of food cooked by him. She asked slowly “Why don’t you tell everyone that you cook in such excellent way?” He gave angry look to her. He said “This is just my hobby. I don’t want publicity to it.” She didn’t understand why he became so angry. She felt so stressed. She smiled happily. He tried so hard to please her every time but whenever she appreciated his cooking. He became different person. She decided to not bring up that subject again. She smiled & said “Let me handle cooking. You can take rest now.” He smiled. He immediately went out of kitchen. Then he went in his room. She knew that now he would pretend that he had never cooked anything. Rishi was so strange. He always cooked tasty delicacies of different types. It was so impressive. People admired them. But she supposed to take credit of all. Whenever someone asked for recipe. He always managed to send it on her WhatsApp & she would immediately show it. Then he would claim. He always stored her recipes on his mobile. He would say “She is so careless. She always kept forgetting & misplacing things.” All guests looked towards her. They felt that she would be offended. But he was giving her credit of cooking which she had never done. She couldn’t feel angry towards him. She just said sadly “He is so right. Last time I made some custard with fig & lost its recipe still I don’t remember. He cared so much for me.” Suddenly entire scene was changed. All guests started look towards Rishi with respect. Rishi added “She cried entire night over that recipe. She created it just for me as my birthday surprise.” Every guest was impressed by their love story. She liked it. She knew that Rishi showed her always as positive. He was careful regarding her reputation. He never permitted damage to it. She felt so positive by it. She decided that she didn’t ask him again that question. She would take entire credit of his cooking skills without questioning.
Rishi went in room. He loved cooking but he didn’t want anyone to know about it. His family never approved when man went to cook in kitchen. It was not something which man should do according to them. They felt man would become weak if he cooked. He wanted to appear a strong man so he always tried his best to reject idea of cooking. He never cooked until he didn’t need to stay in other town for his education. On that time, he didn’t have any options so he decided to do cooking. He began to cook on that time. He was happy about it. But as days went ahead, he began to feel so obsessed with it. He kept cooking different dishes. He didn’t want to become expert but he started to become good cook. His friends started admiring him. Most importantly he found one girlfriend. He never proposed her directly but he used to run around her like some puppy. She used to smile back to him. It was so pleasant for him. He never felt negative about all now. He learnt this cooking just to please her. He felt that if he became great cook, she would admire him more. He shivered at that memory. She came in morning & told him sweetly “Can you cook some tasty food for my friends in evening?” He smiled happily. His room partner Mahesh was listening to all. Mahesh smiled too. Mahesh began to feel she was there to increase friendship. Rishi immediately said “Of course.” She smiled & gave him list of items she wanted. He didn’t like this idea. Still, he agreed. But when he took that list, he decided to skip some items. He told her to bring that food item from market. He was so happy. When she left immediately Mahesh declared “She is planning to introduce you to her family! Is she from rich?” “I don’t know & I don’t care. She is just good friend.” Mahesh started laughing. He sensed that he was blushing. It was too late for controlling his feelings. They were written on his face & in his every gesture. He slowly said “I like her but I am certain about her feelings. “Mahesh “She keep coming here every day. She surely loves you. Why else she comes here every day?” “She might have some work here!” “What sort of work?” He needed to confess so he told “She work as cleaner in one house.” Mahesh looked shocked. Mahesh “She is maid?” “Yes. But I don’t mind. I respect all sort of work.” Mahesh didn’t argue but it was clear Mahesh felt she was wasting too much money on make up & clothes. But Mahesh didn’t want to hurt Rishi so he just nodded. It was such wonderful moment for Rishi. Rishi knew that his parents were against his cooking. But still just for that that girl he cooked. He was thinking about it when suddenly Disha came in room. Disha “Will you come for dinner?” He was so angry. He screamed “Just go away. Can’t you see I am busy?” She was so confused. He was just sitting in darkness alone in room. He was not busy. But she was not planning to say it. She just smiled & said “It’s okay.” Disha went out. But she was so scared. He was odd. She kept feeling something was wrong with Rishi.
Disha went back in kitchen. Her kitchen was full of tasty food but no one was going eat it. She was feeling so negative. She didn’t understand what was going on. Rishi always acted in nice way but sometimes he acted so odd. She wanted to ask him cause but she felt so scared to do that. His mood was so negative on those points. She didn’t understand what was wrong with him. She needed happy life. She married to Rishi with hope of it. But every day was turning in bad way. At beginning everything was fine. He was nice. She was happy but after she started to discuss about his cooking skill he began to get angry. She didn’t understand what was wrong. She began to put entire dinner in refrigerator but then she stopped. She didn’t want to get acidic next morning. She needed to eat something so she took plate & started eating food. While Rishi once again returned to his old memories. He cooked every thing in nice way for that girl. He was so happy. He was expecting her family. Mahesh left house since he didn’t want to disturb them. Rishi arranged all in his rented apartment only. He was expecting happiness for himself. But he didn’t get any. He was just waiting for her family. But her family didn’t come. He still remembered how did she brought her boyfriend & his friends. He was so shocked. She kept calling him best cook. They admired his cooking. Some of them even asked him about his rate of cooking. Her boyfriend said “It’s hard to get such wonderful homemade food. Rishi you are such talented fellow.” Clearly, he was just cook in their view. Rishi knew that he pointed many times to this girl that he wanted to make friendship with her. But she didn’t seem to notice it. On that day when she said good bye. She offered him card of her father’s restaurant. He felt so shocked. He began to hate cooking. When Mahesh came back, he told nothing. But now when he cooked in kitchen for his wife, he felt so angry & negative. Disha kept asking what happened. But he never dared to tell her truth. He could confess his first love & his failure. He didn’t want to appear something less before her. He was just thinking in one way. He kept thinking that if he kept screaming, he would look strong but truthfully, he didn’t feel strong at all. Disha began to assume something was wrong with him mentally. Disha was eating in kitchen when he came. He looked towards her. She was eating carefully while hiding her tears. He began to sense he was destroying life of his wife too. He sat beside her & said “Maybe we need to divorce?” She was so shocked. “You love someone else Rishi!” She was so angry. She pushed away entire food on him. It was hot but she didn’t even sense. Then she began to try to clean it later. He was burned. But he knew that he managed to reach in this situation. She took him to doctor. Doctor gave him medicine. She kept crying. She slowly explained all to doctor. Doctor gave them mobile number of counsellor. Rishi took it. Next day he took appointment. He knew that he needed help. He was feeling pain but he began to sense Disha was facing nervous breakdown. She kept blaming herself. He was so tense. Finally, moment the day of appointment came. He took breath of relief. When they went inside, he felt so nervous. He needed to tell truth. At beginning they talked together before psychiatrist. After sometime Psychiatrist decided to talk to them one by one. When Rishi was alone, he told all. Psychiatrist listened to him & said “I will not tell this to your wife. We can do treatment on you. You will be fine. But I will tell you one thing. Your wife’s issue is due to her own problem. You need to not dig in it.” He nodded. So, on that time they did one unwritten agreement they didn’t dig in each other’s past & let it go. Slowly after treatment they both began to get normal. They became happily married couple. Now Rishi cooked for guests & Disha with pride. He didn’t consider his cooking skill as something bad. He began to admire it. His cooking skill no longer remained hidden skill. All knew it & admired it. Disha began to laugh more. They began to plan for their pleasant future.
