Over studying
Leena was very excited about starting her college.She wanted to be in the Top College.In which every member of her family went.She knew it was just beginning of her academic year.In the end of the year examination would conducted.But she wanted to be on top from starting.On the first day of school teachers began to explain importance of that year.She was listening to it.But she thought after some time teacher would began to teach a lesson.But teacher just continued with her lecture.Finally at end of the lecture she took one paragraph of the lesson.As soon as teacher left the class Leena started complaining"Why didn't she just teach us instead of lecturing?"Usha"But in our vacation class they already completed the portion so why are you upset?""I just don't like wastage of time.You know it is our last year.We must take our study seriously.She was just wasting our time unnecessarily."Usha started laughing "What a joke?She wasted our time by telling us not to waste a time.What an irony of a life?"Usha turned towards Leena in hope of sharing a joke.But Leena was already busy in reading notes of Science II.Usha looked at her strangely.Now a days Leena was never interested in talking.She always carried a book of some subject and continuously read it.Usha had began to feel that she was sitting beside an statue which was of a girl who was reading.Usha"I am eating my tiffin.Aren't you going to eat your tiffin?""Yes of course."Leena pulled her tiffin out of bag and opened it.Then she started eating it for whole time her eyes never left her book.Usha was shocked by her attitude.She went to another bench to eat with other friends.She was very angry by her best friends rudeness.Leena didn't even noticed that her best friend had left the bench so Leena's taking notice of her anger was impossible.She just continued reading and eating one and same time.
All the time Leena read the notes,after some time Usha came back on the bench.Leena was shocked when Usha told her that after some minutes next lecture was going to start.She had to pack the tiffin.Leena"What?Oh my god!I don't even finished my first lesson.How the hell I will able to finish the book of Science II.""Come on!What's wrong with you?This is just first day of school and you are acting as if exam will conducted tomorrow."Leena clearly heard anger in Usha's voice this time.She was started feeling guilty for acting such strange way.She put her books on side of bench and said"Sorry."But after some time Usha noticed that she was not interested in talking.Her eyes were returning to notes again and again.Finally next lecture was started and Leena once again got busy with her books.
After school all her classmates went to ice cream parlor but Leena came straight to home.She just didn't want to go anywhere.She just wanted to continue with her studying.She was not that interested in eating ice cream.After all it would just increase her fat and she was already quite healthy.She was not interested in increasing her calories.She went directly to home.When she went inside home,she directly went to her bedroom and started studying.She didn't even asked for her snacks.Her mom was shocked to see her sincerity.She was never that serious for her studies.Her mom was very happy to notice this change.She immediately made her favorite snacks to show her appreciation.After all her daughter was studying such hard.She should be encouraged.Her mom put the snacks on the side of her table."Honey eat your snacks.It is your favorite Pakodas."Leena took the Pakodas out of the plate.But she didn't even lift her face to look at her mom.She just continued eating Pakodas while reading.Now her mom was little bit upset by this behaviour.She had expected Leena to admire her Pakodas.But she was not saying any thing.She just continued with reading.Mom wanted to ask her did she like them.But at that moment she thought that it was wrong to disturbed her.After all her daughter was studying and nothing was more important that studying in 10th standard.It would made her future or destroy her.Still somewhere in her mind Mom was thinking studying such hard from first day of school was strange.But her Mom thought it was not right moment.
Then at evening phone began to ring.It was Usha's phone.Leena's Mom was happy that finally after her friend's phone Leena would leave her studies.She happily called Leena"Leena Usha is on phone.Come on talk her."At first Leena didn't come finally.Leena came out of her room.Her Mom asked her"Did you like the Pakodas?""Which Pakodas?"Her Mom was shocked to here this."You had just eaten the plate of Pakodas?"Leena gave an embarrassed laugh and said "Mom I was so engrossed in the book that I just didn't paid any attention to taste of Pakodas.I am sorry.I hope you don't mind.""It's all right.But you know it's just first day of school.May be you have studied enough for day?""Mom I have complete the lesson."Before her Mom able to say something,Leena just hurried to phone.After talking on phone her Mom noticed that she was relaxed little bit.Her Mom was happy that she had forgotten her studies for some time.
Leena picked up the phone.Usha"Hey!what's wrong with you?Why didn't you come for ice cream?""Actually I have feeling sick because of cold.You know ice cream may increase it."Usha seemed to be convinced by this lie."You should have at least came with us.""Actually after seeing ice cream I find it hard not to eat it."After hearing this Usha started laughing.Usha"You are right last time when I saw ice cream.I ate three cups of it."Leena knew that Usha was exaggerating.Usha never ate so much ice cream.But after that Usha changed the subject which was Leena's motive.Then for many hour she continued gossiping.Leena was not interested in them.But she still pretended that she was to hear them.After all you had to do these things for your friend.Slowly their subject came to their studies and Leena suddenly started showing interest.Usha noticed it.But by now she accepted that this year her best friend was going to turned into book worm.For an hour they discussed about Maths II.It was hard to believe but Leena was happiest when they started talking about studies.Finally Usha got bored and she tried to change the subject.But when she saw that Leena was just interested about studies.She made some excuse and put the phone down.Then once again Leena started studying Science II.After all after finishing her Science II chapter.She had to continue with Maths II.She must try those sums today because she might forget the method Usha told her by tomorrow.She had to finish it.Leena was reading and memorizing everything.She was so involved that she forgot to watch her favorite T.V. show.Her Mom was very happy that her daughter was not going to waste her time in watching T.V. After all which parent would want their children to sit before that idiot box.But of course Mom noticed it was time for her daily show and went to watch it.Then Mom went in kitchen to cook dinner.Then Mom went out for vegetable shopping.Mom just called out to Leena and told her that she was going out in market.But Leena literally screamed on her to go away and told her not to disturbed her while studying.Mom really didn't like her manners.She went inside her room to warn her not to behave like this with her.But when she went inside Leena was surrounded by many book and she studying with such dedication.That Mom was convinced that screaming on her was just small mistake and Mom continued with her work.
When her Mom came back Leena was still studying.Her Mom was shocked.But she thought that it was one day phobia.She wanted her daughter to take her studies seriously.Now finally that was achieved.She didn't feel that relived.She waited for many hours in hope that Leena would ask for dinner.But she didn't ask.Finally when Mom insisted that she should come for dinner.She went to living room.After dinner she was such exhaust that she slept immediately.Her mom was very upset with her behavior.When her Papa came home.Her Mom started telling him about Leena's strange behavior.But instead of getting tense he smiled happily.Papa"I can't understand what is upsetting you.She is really studying hard.I wanted her to act like this.""This way?If she acted this way whole year.She would be out of her mind by the end of the year."After hearing this Papa got angry with Mom."Don't discourage our daughter.She will have to enter in good college like her cousins.She have to work hard.I studied in a same way but I never lost my mind.Stop that nonsense.Studying is always good thing.It will never harm anyone."After hearing Leena's Mom felt that she was wrong and she decided she would never go against over studying.After all it couldn't harm any one.
From that day Leena just continued studying.Her Mom never tried to stop her.In the school she became famous as "Book worm". Her best friend Usha was also irritated by her attitude.Slowly Usha just started ignoring her.She left all her extra curricular activities.Books were literally turned in to her best friend.But just books of her 10th standard;she didn't read any other educational or entertaining book.Slowly her health began to affect by this.She was just doing table work and her Mom was providing her with favorite snacks because of it her weight increased.Her Mom thanked god that her eyesight was not affected.One day Leena was sick with virus.That day Mom told her to sleep.But Leena just didn't listen to her.She just didn't stop her studies because of which her fever increased.Doctor had to give her strong medicine.At that point her Mom once again complained to Papa.But Papa said "She just got carried away this time.I don't think it will happen again.""But don't you notice her weight.She have to do some exercise.""This is for just one year after that she can go to gym.""It is easy to say but it will be hard for her."Leena's Mom really didn't like the idea.But she knew there was no point in arguing.
Leena's obsession was increasing in every way.Finally her teachers also started telling her to take it easy.One day finally her exam was over.Her Mom thought that finally their bad days were over.But her Mom noticed that Leena was not still showing any interest in normal life.She was not interested in going out with her friends.She just stayed inside her room.She was looking very tense.One day Mom asked her"Leena finally your exams are over.But you are still tense."Mom I am tense regarding result.Actually exams were good.But I wish marks to be best.I want above 95%.""I think after studying so hard you must get 101%."After saying this her Mom started laughing and Leena joined her.Then her Mom slowly forced her to come to gym with her.In gym Leena seemed most unfit to Mom.While doing exercise she was not paying full attention.Her mind was clearly occupied with tension of results.She was not paying any attention to her instructor and her Mom didn't like it.After this weight she had to do something about it.
Finally the day of result came Leena entered in the school.As soon as she entered in the class;she noticed that her teacher didn't give her smile.When results were distributed she was afraid to open her result. When she saw Usha was happy and she got 90% .Her hopes were increased.She opened her result.She read 85% .Then she looked at her teacher,she was congratulating someone.Then she remembered that was the teacher who told her to take it easy.She understood everything.She always went with her wishes.That was the reason this teacher did this to her.She changed her marks.Her teacher cheated her.She started crying loudly.Usha tried to console her.But she just pushed away Usha.She went into corridor.She suddenly felt strong need to tell whole world that she was cheated.She started screaming loudly and cursing her teacher.She started telling everyone about the plot against her by her own teacher.She could have continued like that.But Usha stopped her and forced her to go home.
When Leena reached home,her Mom was waiting for her results.As soon as she saw Leena;she understood that something was wrong with her.Then Leena started telling her stories about school and teacher's plot against her.Her Mom tried to tell her that her claims were unreasonable.All her teachers liked her.But Leena just carried on screaming from top of her lung.When her Papa came she acted same way.After that for 2 days she just tried hard to convince everyone about the plot against her by her school and teachers.Her madness was clearly seen by everyone who came in her contact.
Finally her parents took her to psychiatrist.But Leena continuously protested against going there.When Leena entered in Doctor's room.She started telling him her wild stories again.Her parents were very shattered by her behavior.Doctor told them to relax."It is nothing serious.It is Brief Psychotic Disorder.She will be fine.After a week rest and medication.""But what happen to her?""She was stressed.Her obsession with studying had harmed her.""What?But studying is good thing.""Eating is good thing.But overeating can damage your health.Same applies to studying.But don't worry she will be fine."After some time Leena became normal as Doctor told.But still now wherever she started studying,sometimes her Mom wanted to snatch book from her.Her Mom thought sometimes that she might be suffering from some disorder like her daughter.
