Protecting Trupti
Wind started moving with curtain he sensed movement of curtain. He was slowly observing it. He was Ravi. But he was not so sure about it now. He wanted to cry but he couldn’t. He looked around. His baby niece was sleeping in crib. He shivered with fear. He didn’t wanted this. He didn’t want any responsibility. He was not normal. He couldn’t take care of one baby. But he was forced to. He tried to tell it to all. He told them that he was mad. They must not give baby to him. But they just told him that she was his responsibility now. He knew his brother & sister-in-law were dead. In one accident they both died. He looked towards his niece Trupti. Trupti was sleeping peacefully. Ravi told himself all would become fine. Ravi began to think about people who could help him. Then he remembered Psychiatrist. His Psychiatrist could surely help him. He began to search for number. He was doing it carefully when suddenly alarm rang. Sudhir woke up from his nightmare. Sudhir was so frustrated. He didn’t understand why he kept dreaming about Ravi. Sudhir looked around in room. Everything was perfect. He was alive & his wife Siddhi was fine too. Siddhi was sleeping peacefully. He looked towards Crib. It was empty. He knew that it was going to stay empty like that. He just wished that his wife would agree to give it away. Trupti was no longer sleeping in it. Trupti had her room. But that Crib just kept there forever. He didn’t understand why did that Crib managed to panic him. Trupti had slept in it for years. He didn’t understand why he get so upset by that empty Crib. Siddhi was planning to close it soon. But it was stuck so they needed someone else to close it. He began to feel so upset whenever he saw it. He knew that he needed to find someone to disengage that Crib & fold it. He was taking so much time to do that. It was his fault only. Siddhi was nice wife & perfect mother. He was lucky to have her. He couldn’t imagine his life without her. If God decided to kill her then he wanted to die with her. He couldn’t manage to live even one day. He suddenly came back to his senses. He was not sick. She was not sick. They both were going to live a long life. They had lots of hopes in future. They were going to create future of their daughter Trupti. He would never let Trupti depend on his younger brother Ravi. Sudhir had strange sort of dislike for his brother Ravi. Ravi was always with emotional issues. Sudhir needed to adjust on every step due to it. He required to handle all since childhood but Ravi was not getting blamed much for it. He was feeling so hopeless due to entire situation. Ravi was now pretending like some big man. Ravi managed to get one good influential friend. Sudhir didn’t know what job exactly Ravi was doing for him but Ravi was getting big salary which was important for Ravi. It was upsetting for Sudhir since they all kept telling him to follow Ravi. Entire life Sudhir took care of their parents. He did all. Siddhi entered much later in his life. Actually Sudhir was not even thinking of getting married but his friend introduced him with Siddhi in one party. Siddhi was so nice. He felt that she would manage his house perfectly & all was getting managed great too. He just needed to get rid of this Crib. He once again closed his eyes. He knew that his life was perfect. Sudhir opened eyes. He looked around. He saw his lovely wife. He got nice house. His daughter Trupti was sleeping in next room. He closed again. This time he decided that he wouldn’t open eyes. He would keep them shut tightly. He decided to return to his childhood. On that time once he fall down in garden. His hand got hurt. It used to pain so much. He couldn’t able to sleep due to it. He was feeling so upset. He tried to feel hopeful. But his hopes were not remaining on it’s place. He once again going back to sad memories of past. He wanted to feel positive but he was not feeling it. His negativity was starting to capture his soul. He suddenly began to feel he might needed to check on his daughter Trupti once. He was not comfortable that she was sleeping separately. He began to feel so negative because he was scared as father. He smiled. Finally he understood cause of his uneasiness. He decided to go in her room. He could check Trupti then he could go to sleep peacefully with smile. He went in Trupti’s room. She was sleeping in her baby bed peacefully. She was surrounded by toys & protected by proper barricades on each side. She was sleeping peacefully. He looked towards her small face. It was not happy or smiling. It was just expressionless face. On her face there was not anything. She was just one baby face without any expression. He wanted Trupti to smile. He began to feel so nervous & guilty. He started to think that it was his mistake that his daughter was not smiling. He decided to kiss her on forehead. He hoped that it would make her smile. He did it but Trupti started to cry slowly in her sleep. He patted her then she was about to open her eyes. But after seeing her Dad she just closed them. Now her expressions were angry. She was clearly not happy with situation. He sensed one thing. He did all wrong. He slowly turned out & went out of her room. Trupti was so small. He wanted her to sleep with them. But Trupti started to sleep separately since Trupti selected design in her room. She began to insist on sleeping there. Siddhi arranged bed which kept her safe. Then it was just next to their room. They kept their door open so even if Trupti screamed little bit they could hear her. It was safe. In fact Siddhi even kept one camera so they could watch all from their room. It was perfect. Still he felt so scared. He slowly went out of her room. He once again settled in his room. He didn’t understand why did he kept feeling strange fear in his heart. He wanted to feel positive but negative kept coming in mind. He once again slept on his side of bed. He closed his eyes. He forced himself to go to sleep. He kept trying hard for hours & finally he was falling asleep. He slowly fall asleep. He began to feel so restless even during stage when he was reaching to slumber. It was painful for him. He needed a peaceful sleep.
Siddhi wake up by voice of alarm. She didn’t take risk. She always kept alarm. For Siddhi doing all on time was essential. She was totally punctual about timing. She wanted to do things in proper way. She began to run towards kitchen. Then she noticed. Once again Sudhir’s slipper was not in room. She felt so upset. She knew that it must be in Trupti’s room. His obsession about Trupti was getting odd. Trupti was growing up. Trupti even started going in Nursery now she was happy to sleep in her room. She began to get so stressed. Trupti didn’t need her father watching her whole time. Siddhi wanted him to give some space to Trupti. She needed to convince this to Sudhir. He was acting so odd. She also went in Trupti’s room. Trupti was still sleeping. She slowly went near her. She needed to get her ready too but it could wait. Siddhi decided to cook first. She was feeling so upset. Finally Sudhir came in kitchen. Siddhi gave him angry look. “ Did you gone in Trupti’s room yesterday?” Sudhir immediately apologised. “ I will not do that again. I managed to wake her up.” Siddhi smiled. So that issue was settled now. She suddenly turned to him & asked “ Why did you went there in first place?” Sudhir didn’t want to tell his nightmare but he didn’t have much option. He said slowly “ I just thought that we are dead…” Siddhi gave sweet laugh & said “Let me guess. Trupti is orphan?” He returned nervous smile. “ When will you accept that our daughter is safe? Come on! Nothing is wrong! She is living normal life & it would continue.” He nodded. He just wanted her to shift subject. It was not happening. He knew that she would go to bottom of this matter. Siddhi never left anything half done. Siddhi started to look out of window. She did this when she wanted to control her anger. Sudhir continued “ I know it was my mistake..”On that point Trupti came running in kitchen. They were so shocked. Sudhir screamed “ How did you come down from bed?” He immediately took her in arms & started to kiss her. He began to ask her “ Do you hurt?” On that time one lady came. Sudhir gave that lady shocked look. Sudhir “ Who are you?” That lady gave him odd look. “ You have forgotten me already?” Trupti “ Daddy it’s my Nanny. Vimala Kaki!” Vimala “ Thank God. At least you remember me! I hope you will not forgot me on my salary day. I will start to get bath ready for Trupti.” “ Wait!” Siddhi came ahead. Siddhi smiled & said “ What is salary? I mean Sudhir will be in office I need to pay..Sudhir you are going to be late.” She said angrily & turned towards Nanny. Trupti clearly liked her new Nanny. Trupti began to kiss Siddhi & saying “ Vimala Kaki will make new dress for me.” Now Siddhi was shocked. Siddhi “ You can’t demand such a things from your Nanny sweetheart! She just supposed to do normal things like giving bath dress you..” Vimala Kaki smiled & said “ It’s alright. I want to do that. But you must bring all materials. Then I will stitch for free.” Siddhi felt confused. She didn’t like idea of keeping Nanny but Sudhir managed to select one. She didn’t want to just throw away that lady or she didn’t understand how could she throw away that lady. Vimala Kaki declared her salary. Siddhi didn’t like to waste money but clearly she sensed that option was not there. Siddhi just kept nodding. Soon Vimala Kaki took hold of all. Siddhi felt like she was useless mother. Vimala Kaki was ordering her & she was doing everything. It was so frustrating. But Siddhi didn’t see any option. She kept doing. Soon her work was over. Trupti was in Nursery & Vimala Kaki was going to bring her back. Siddhi smiled. She had some time for herself finally. It was wonderful opportunity. She began to think what she would do. She started to remember many ideas. She could start her dance practice again. She watched herself in mirror. She clearly needed to lose some weight. She told herself that she could do it. She began to take some pose. She started to get new pleasant feeling. She was so happy when suddenly Vimala Kaki came in room. Vimala Kaki gave her odd look. Vimala Kaki “ Well I noticed your husband’s clothes were on bed. They might need ironing. He work so hard bring money. It’s so hard to earn money. You need to sense it. I work so hard to get it. I love children so I started doing this. My husband was alcoholic. He used to hit me & take away my money. I use to cry night after night. Those were truly my horrible days. I can’t forget them. It was so painful. I still shiver with fear when I remember them.” Siddhi felt scared too. “ Where is your husband now?” “ He is with another woman. Second wife.” “ But we can’t have second wife legally. You can complaint.” “ Who will go to Cops? He was never paying anything to me. I always managed on my own so now I live same way. It’s better to get rid of him. Now he is at least not coming home.” Siddhi didn’t say anything. She just decided to do ironing. Siddhi slowly started to iron each cloth one by one. She began to feel so tired. It seemed as if she didn’t took any rest. She soon sensed that Sudhir kept all his clothes on bed. It seemed as if cupboard was empty. She felt that it might wanted her to arrange his cupboard. She smiled & began to do it. It was okay. Now she had help in house so she could do some extra work for him. Soon she felt so exhausted. She was no longer felt as if she took any rest. She didn’t understand why this was happening. She had one maid now but she didn’t feel relaxed. Then she thought tomorrow she didn’t have to arrange Sudhir’s cupboard. She would be free to relax. She finally closed cupboard. By then Trupti came back. She spent time with Trupti. Vimala Kaki was there but Trupti wanted company of her Mom. Vimala Kaki was no longer such favourite. Trupti just wanted Siddhi to do all for her. During this time Vimala Kaki began to stitch one nice dress. Siddhi was watching it. That dress was really beautiful. Siddhi was happy about it. She wanted that beautiful dress for her daughter so she didn’t mind working. Siddhi began to wait for completion of that dress.
Sudhir came back home. As soon as he entered Vimala Kaki immediately ran to take his bag. Clearly Sudhir was happy with this gesture but Siddhi would have liked it if Vimala Kaki had shown same enthusiasm when she brought vegetables from market. Vimala Kaki started discussing how did she could cook many things for them. Siddhi was happy by it. Siddhi nodded happily at every suggestion. So from next day Vimala Kaki started cooking instead of taking care of Trupti. Siddhi didn’t mind it. That dress was lying half done in corner. Siddhi was busy with other things. But she looked towards that dress. She felt that she couldn’t waste it so it became extra work for Siddhi but still she decided to complete it. Vimala Kaki was helping them. She knew that Vimala Kaki was getting strange hold step by step. Now a days after coming home Sudhir just called Vimala Kaki then he kept talking with her for hours. Siddhi knew that Vimala Kaki was elderly woman. Sudhir didn’t take that sort of interest in her. He couldn’t have affair with Vimala Kaki but still Sudhir was ignoring her totally. She didn’t understand this attitude. Slowly Vimala Kaki began to suggest that she would like to stay with them. Sudhir smiled & said “ Great idea!” Siddhi screamed “ Nonsense! We need to all our rooms. Vimala Kaki can keep coming daily.” “ But it is taking me too much travelling.” “ No.. I can’t accept this idea. I need to arrange all. My relatives need room & I don’t need 24 hours maid.” Vimala Kaki immediately began to look upset. Vimala Kaki immediately said “ I want permanent job of 24 hours. I am ready to stay in house. I want salary accordingly.” Sudhir was so upset. He wanted to give her salary but he knew that it was not possible. He needed Vimala Kaki. He didn’t understand why. But she was essential for him. Siddhi rejected idea immediately. Siddhi “ I understand your situation.” Siddhi slowly took out money from pocket & gave remaining salary to Vimala Kaki. Vimala Kaki took it. Vimala Kaki was upset. But she was not planning to show it. She immediately smiled & said “ I will not come from tomorrow.” Sudhir nodded. But then suddenly Sudhir asked “ Who send you? You never mentioned.” Vimala Kaki laughed. “ This is nice joke. Sir.” Then she returned to work. Vimala Kaki worked properly on that day. Then she left. Sudhir slept with uneasy feel on that night. It seemed as if his entire life was getting upset. He needed positive thoughts but he kept having nightmares. Finally he woke up by crying of Trupti. He shivered. He slowly started going towards her room. But then he remembered warning given by Siddhi. He returned to his room. He slept on bed. He was going to close eyes when Vimala Kaki came. He looked towards her. She smiled & showed red knife. It was full of red paint. He assumed it was paint or ketchup. He shivered with fear. He wanted to think in positive way. But he began to shiver. He couldn’t talk. He watched Siddhi sleeping peacefully. When Vimala Kaki said slowly “ You should have came in room.” Then she started laughing. He knew suddenly it was blood. He screamed loudly “ Trupti”. He started to stand up when he fall from bed. He began to cry loudly. Siddhi came running towards him. Siddhi “ What happened? Are you hurt?” He was feeling pain but he didn’t care. He kept crying. “ Trupti..Trupti.. she killed her.” Siddhi was so shocked. She screamed out of fear. On that time she heard Trupti calling. Siddhi saw that Sudhir was hurt on forehead due to showpiece which was fallen. He was injured but she ran towards her daughter. She just needed to confirm. When she went in her daughter Trupti’s room, she sensed immediately everything was perfect. Her husband had another nightmare & this time it managed to injured him. She took her daughter in arms & immediately ran back. Sudhir was happy to see Trupti. But he was bleeding too much. Siddhi sensed that they needed Doctor. She immediately called one. She was so upset when she sensed that she might needed to go to hospital. She told Doctor about Trupti. Doctor said “ Just bring her with you.” Then she called Ambulance. She called security. On that time neighbour came out. She didn’t have much contact with them so she just told Security her husband had accident. Immediately those neighbours came near her. They offered help. Her husband kept holding wound while she packed her clothes. Neighbour told her to keep Trupti with her. Luckily Trupti was too sleepy so it was easy. Trupti could spent one night there. Siddhi called her family. Then she called Ravi. But Ravi was not interested in coming. Ravi just created excuses one after another. It was upsetting for her. Sudhir went to help Ravi so many times. But Ravi was never interested in helping Sudhir. It was so frustrating. She just disconnected call. Then her brother told her that they would pick Trupti & keep her with them for sometime. She told him about neighbour. Then she showed her brother’s photo to neighbour. They shifted it on their mobile then they took Trupti. Siddhi waited for ambulance with her injured husband. She was holding Sudhir’s wound now. She smiled towards him out of her panic. He was still asking about Trupti. She kept telling that it was nightmare. Finally Ambulance came & they took him. She came running. But ward boy told her to bring money & lock door properly. So she did it. She was so tense when she sat in Ambulance. She knew one thing. She needed to tell Doctor all. They must discuss repeated nightmares. They were getting worst day by day.
Doctor did stitches of Sudhir. Then Doctor told Siddhi that she could take Sudhir back home but she needed to some after some days to remove stitches. She agreed. But she told Doctor that she needed to tell something more. She told about his repeated nightmares. Doctor listened to her then he said “ Why don’t you keep him for sometime & get done whole body check up? These daily nightmares doesn’t seem like normal issue. Let’s do body check up then I suggest mental treatment.” She agreed happily. Then she called her brother & told him all. Then they stayed in hospital for sometime. Whole time Sudhir was talking just about Trupti. He kept calling his brother-in-law hysterically again & again. It was really sad situation. Finally they got physical report. Sudhir was physically normal. That wound was just from outside. He was fine. Then they took emergency appointment of Psychiatrist. Siddhi sat outside while Sudhir discussed inside. Sudhir kept telling him how much scared he was for his daughter. How did his brother Ravi always treated him. Psychiatrist talked for long time. Then Psychiatrist called Siddhi inside. Psychiatrist explained her that it was happening since Sudhir felt neglected in his childhood now he didn’t want his daughter to feel that way. It was developing his Anxiety. Psychiatrist told them to continue treatment for sometime. Sudhir returned home & immediately called Trupti. Trupti returned back. Siddhi was still nervous because she didn’t want Nanny now. But she was scared Sudhir might insist. But Sudhir said “ I don’t trust Nanny anymore.” She smiled happily. Finally Vimala Kaki went out of their life forever. They never understood who sent her. But they were happy to get rid of her. Finally after treatment Sudhir’s Anxiety started to reduce. Luckily it didn’t developed in Trupti. Step by step their life became happy & normal.
