Charu’s husband
Charu began to think how could she bring some entertainment in her life. Her life was always hard working. Her family kept demanding one thing after another. She never able to take breath of relief but now it was going to change since her husband Ramesh was coming back. He needed to stay in abroad for earning good salary. He wanted to take family too but it was not practical. He had responsibilities for his parents. He didn’t want to shift all. He couldn’t earn so much if he started to spend on entire family so he decided to shift alone. Charu was so upset by all. She didn’t want to stay alone. They had just one son. She thought that they could adjust but Ramesh didn’t agree. He felt that his earnings were too low. When he started working abroad, slowly their financial status increased. She couldn’t deny it. Every one was happy but she felt so alone. She dreamt many things & her dreams were attached to Ramesh. She wanted to complete them now. She waited for him. Today finally he was going to come back to her. She was so excited on that point she suddenly sensed that she was feeling scared. She didn’t understand why. She looked around. Every thing was perfect. She began to think that her in-laws might be risk. She began to think that she needed to confirm her in-laws were perfect. She started to feel scared. She began to get restless. She slowly went towards their bedroom. She knocked. She was so scared. Every second seemed like hard movement. Then slowly her father-in-law Raghu Kaka opened room door. He slowly came out of room. He looked so confused. He asked “ What happened?” She could clearly hear anger in his voice. She knew that they never accepted her. Charu was Ramesh’s choice. From first day of their dating his parents were against this marriage. They wanted Ramesh to marry someone they knew. They had their group. There were plenty of daughters in them. According to them those girls belonged to their class while Charu was mismatch. They felt that entry of Charu would damage their reputation as club member. Ramesh didn’t care for their club or their future in it. He wanted happy married life & for it he needed girl who was suitable for him. He dated few girls whom his parents selected but he didn’t like them. It seemed very clear that they wanted him to earn more by using all means while he hated it. He wanted hard work & proper earning. They didn’t like his suggestions. They rejected them. He was very happy about it. But as days went ahead, he began to get upset about all. He wanted to feel happy but he kept feeling stressed. Finally he met Charu. She was unknown simple girl. He liked her & he kept insisting on settling with her. Finally his parents gave up. But even today she was not their favourite. Sometimes she felt that they still wanted to replace her. If Ramesh expressed even little dislike about her today she was sure that his parents would suggest divorce. She one day told it to Ramesh clearly. He started laughing. He said “ You imagine too much.” But even today she could see it was written on Raghu Kaka’s face. “ Nothing important. I just want to tell you Ramesh is coming today.” “ We know it. Our son inform us too.” She could clearly hear anger in those words. “ I know. I just came to ask do you want me to cook something special today?” “ I don’t understand his tests since he married to you! I mean now you know them better don’t you.” She was so confused. At one point she felt that Raghu Kaka was taunting her but on other hand she felt that she was unnecessarily assuming wrong things. She didn’t understand if they wanted to abuse her or it was just joke. But she knew one thing if she said something her mother-in-law Rama Bai would claim it. She knew that after her entry all parties were stopped. They were not interested in her in-laws. They all expected something different from Ramesh. Ramesh was not enough as per their expectations. She was worst mistake according to them. She didn’t understand what she supposed to do. But she knew one thing that she got married to Ramesh since she loved him. He was always nice to her. They had wonderful Son Ravi who was adorable too. She decided that she didn’t want to argue further. Her in-laws were healthy & all was okay so she went out. She went back in kitchen. She didn’t understand why did she kept feeling so restless. Ramesh was coming & her life was going to be perfect in sometime. She smiled. She began to concentrate on finishing her cooking when her mobile rang. Her hair dresser was calling from beauty parlour about appointment. Once she used to go there but now she was not that much interested. She didn’t want to keep going daily to beauty parlour. Of course it was not daily but it became once in month & she needed to keep sitting many hours of day. She knew that it was irritating. She needed to do lots of things in house. She preferred to do them. She wanted to do something meaningful. But she knew that if she didn’t do it them her in-laws would start taunting her. Today when she saw that call, she was so frustrated. She disliked beauty parlour. She just wished only if she could relax there as other woman do. But she felt stressed & upset. She wanted pleasant atmosphere but she got just disturbed surroundings. She was so upset by last experience. She took call. She began to make excuses. Immediately that woman started telling her “ Madam you are damaging your beauty! This will have impact on your life. I am sure people will taunt you.” She was so nervous. She began to think that people who would come to meet Ramesh would taunt her. She began to feel so upset by entire thought. She began to feel that Ramesh was seeing her after so many years. She was no longer that much beautiful. She was feeling so stressed out. She started to feel that Ramesh might start to think same way as his parents. She was totally sure that she needed to go to beauty parlour but she couldn’t. She needed to cook. She just told that woman “ I am okay.” She disconnected call & she started crying. She was not even sure anymore that if she needed Ramesh back. She was sure that now he would come back then he would live with her forever.
Ramesh was coming back after such a long time. He knew that Charu adjusted all. He wanted her happiness after marriage but in that process he just managed to earn money instead of happiness. He decided now that he earned enough. He would settle back with his family again. He was feeling not so comfortable about it. He didn’t understand what was wrong but he noticed change in voice of Charu. She was no longer interested in chatting with him. She didn’t seem to like his voice anymore. She was so nervous. It seemed as if she was too busy to talk with him. He knew that she didn’t cheat him but still he began to feel confused. He didn’t want to damage his life due to his greed but on many points he felt that he did it. They all felt that he was enjoying his life in abroad but he was not. He wanted to live with her. He never did it to escape from her. He did it since he wanted her happiness. He knew that his parents wouldn’t give much money to them. He could sense it from their behaviour. They could stay in that house but they couldn’t expect more. He knew that his father would surely give all to some one else. He was his son but his father was not attached to him so much. His father felt affection towards others more than him. Honestly he didn’t mind it. He needed just Charu. He knew people might consider it selfish but he loved her. He married to her since he loved her while his parents wanted him to marry those girls since their greed demand it. Honestly it was totally wrong. They needed to understand this. Now finally he managed enough to buy one nice flat for them. He was so happy at that thought. He didn’t want to remain to remain like beggar under his parents. He had self respect. He was ready to forget their property for showing his family that he was worthy of them. It was important for him. He was so upset by all this. He was so sure that he was going in right way when suddenly all became wrong. He didn’t see Charu his side as he once saw her. He began to feel that he lost his happiness fully. He was so stressed. He needed success but not at cost of Charu. He did all for Charu but now he could sense that Charu was hating him. She didn’t want him any more. She didn’t say it. She tried to show excitement but he knew that it was artificial. He knew her better than any one. She might not sense what she felt but he could. He knew that she managed to hurt her. He wanted her to forgive him. It was so upsetting. She began to move away from him. He sensed it so he decided to come back. He felt so sure that something was going wrong way. She was not happy. His entire journey was horrible. He kept thinking what he would do to correct his mistake. He knew very well that he did big mistake by going out like that. He felt sorry for it but it was meaningless. He kept feeling restless. He wanted wonderful future but he destroyed it all. He started to feel little relaxed as he came near his home. Finally he was back. He was hoping that Charu would come to receive him but soon he sensed that no one came. It was so odd. He didn’t understand where every one went. He finally called Charu. His mobile kept ringing. Clearly Charu didn’t want to take his call. Charu was sleeping on bed after crying when her mobile rang. She was so shocked when she sensed that she slept for much long time. She noticed that Ramesh was calling her. She felt so nervous that she forgot to go to airport. She needed to get dressed up. She didn’t understand what she would do. She needed to go or get dressed up or she should just take call. She didn’t want to face him so she started to get dress up. She wanted to do all right way but her hands were shaking. She managed to use lipstick in totally wrong way. Everything was looking totally different. She wanted to look perfect but she was looking so different. She was looking cheap. She never looked like this in her life. She started crying. Luckily Ravi was not there. She knew that if Ravi saw this. Ravi would surely began to talk against his grandparents. They did all. Ravi knew it. Ravi could easily sense it. Ravi kept abusing his grandparents. Ravi was feeling so upset. He needed positive approach of his parents but he got just negative attitude of his grandparents. She knew that she was not giving nice atmosphere to her son. They planned such beautiful life but just for money Ramesh destroyed it all. She managed to put her lipstick. Then she decided to skip other make up. She just took out one dress & wore it. She immediately booked on cab & waited. Ramesh kept calling her again & again. She kept ignoring his calls. Finally after some time when she noticed she came half way, she took it. She started to feel happy about entire incidence. She knew that she was looking okay. She watched herself in mirror. She was looking just fine. She took Ramesh’s call & she said sweetly “ I am coming. Don’t worry.” He didn’t say anything. He was so confused. Ramesh knew that Charu was not near Airport. He didn’t want to wait. But he didn’t want to hurt her so he said “ Okay.” She disconnected his call. Then he just waited for long time. He didn’t understand why she came late but then he began to sense that she might be wanted to go to beauty parlour. She was considered about meeting him. So he waited hoping her in some nice clothes & full of make up also with wonderful haircut. He liked her simple beauty but he loved idea of her getting ready for him. That thought was just wonderful for him. He was so upset when she didn’t appear but now he was waiting happily for her. Finally she came. When she came out of Taxi his all dreams were shattered. He sensed one thing that she was not in right mind. Her Lipstick was spread in odd way. Her eyes were having big bags. They were suggesting that she was not sleeping for sometime. It was so upsetting. He watched her carefully. He began to feel that she might wanted divorce from him so she was showing off like this. But when she gave that nervous smile which told him that she was on verge of crying he sensed that something was wrong with her brain. He sensed that she needed Psychiatrist & it was not going to be easy to convince her. But he knew that he would do it for her. She smiled & he returned smile. He pretended as if nothing went wrong. He was nervous about it. But he kept thinking about it. He didn’t understand how could he handle it. But he decided that he would do it. It was was decided in his heart that he needed to do it. He kept smiling while she kept avoiding his eyes. He knew that she was trying to hide her feelings. He didn’t want to hurt her so he kept talking. He didn’t pay attention that she was not answering. He just kept talking.
Charu could feel Ramesh’s arms around her shoulder. She wanted to feel happy but she was so nervous. She was so sure that he would reject her & he would taunt her. She was not ready to let herself feel tempted by his sweet talking. She knew that it was just artificial beginning. After some time every thing would vanish. She would start to feel nervous. Ramesh kept talking until they didn’t reach to house. She didn’t say anything but it seemed as if he didn’t care. He wanted to just keep talking. When they rested home, she was expecting his parents to receive him. His parents did perfect job of receiving him. But it was just hello & bye. It was clear that their relationship was damaged beyond repair. She didn’t want to cause this trouble but she seemed to cause it. Sometimes she began to feel that she did big mistake by marrying. She didn’t want to come between parents & son. She was worst person. She was not even sure about her love. She began to look nervous. Ramesh went in room. She followed him like robot. He started taking gifts which he bought for her. Suddenly she didn’t want anything. She stopped him. “ I don’t want to stay with you..” He was so shocked. Ramesh wanted to scream but he couldn’t. He felt as if his voice was chocked. His wife was telling him that she wanted divorce but why? He didn’t understand. He asked slowly “ Are you having affair?” She denied it. “ Then what happened?” He screamed so loudly that every member of that household came running towards room. Even maid couldn’t control curiosity. They all looked towards couple with shock. Raghu Kaka asked angrily “ What happened?” Ramesh gave one nice artificial smile & said “ I was just asking her normal things. Nothing big!” They all knew that something big had happened. But still they pretended that they believed him. Maid ran back to work while pretending she didn’t hear anything. Charu began to feel nervous. Charu started to sense that she needed to think before she say something. She didn’t understand why she said that she didn’t want to stay with Ramesh. She didn’t have anyone else. She didn’t dislike him. She was still in love with him. She didn’t understand why she wanted to send him away from her. She was so confused. She didn’t say anything. Ramesh controlled his anger & asked “ What happened?” She wanted to answer but she started to crying instead. She couldn’t control herself. He kept patting on her back. He took her in arms. She wanted to stop crying but she couldn’t. Finally he suggested to her that she must go to sleep. She tried to deny it but as soon as she fall on bed immediately she fall asleep. She began to get relaxed but Ramesh sensed that it was temporary. Ramesh sensed one thing. She needed a Psychiatrist & he needed to hide it from family. He slowly called his friend who could help him. He went in washroom since he knew that it was only place where no one could hear him. He began to feel so upset. He started to call. At least twice he missed number & finally he managed. He told everything in shaky voice while controlling his emotion. Finally he declared “ I done biggest mistake by going abroad. Now I lost love of my life!” His friend said in relaxed voice “ My brother is Psychiatrist & this is common case of nervous breakdown. You wouldn’t have left her with your parents like that but you don’t have much options. Now you can shift to some nice house. After all your parents don’t want you in their house & you are not planning to keep staying there!” “ This is my father’s house he got from his own earning so I don’t want to argue about it. I can have my right on my grandfather’s property which I have in village. I know no one can take it from me.” “ Then you have enough money for it.” “ Yes. I have already booked one house.” “ Then shift there as soon as possible.” “ So soon..” “ You want your wife to get worst?!” Ramesh knew people might consider this wrong but he didn’t have much option. He started packing. When he came out & told this to his parents. Clearly they were pleased with this idea. They suggested that he would do it as soon as possible. It was clear that Ravi was arguing with them daily. Ramesh felt relieved. When Ramesh was packing, Ravi came. Ravi gave him confused look & asked “ Are you not planning to stay with us?! You are planning to divorce Mom?!” Ramesh was shocked. Ramesh “ No..we are shifting from this house. I went abroad just to earn enough money for it. I never plan to left your Mom & you. I love you both.” Ravi was so happy. He gave number of mover & packers to Ramesh. Soon they managed to arrange all. Charu was nervous when she woke up. But when Ramesh declared shifting, she just nodded. She didn’t want to argue. She helped them. Soon people of mover & packer came. They managed to shift all in one day. It was exhausting but Charu felt relaxed in new house. Still she didn’t feel normal. She kept avoiding Ramesh. She didn’t understand why. Then Ramesh told her about visit to Psychiatrist. At beginning she felt irritated & angry. But then she realised that she didn’t need to feel scared to visit. Ramesh didn’t tell anyone so she nodded. They took appointment. They arranged that timing when Ravi would be at school. Charu was so nervous at beginning. But when she visited Psychiatrist for first time, she began to relax too. She told all to Psychiatrist. Psychiatrist began her treatment. At first Ramesh came then slowly she started to go alone too. Then after sometime she started to feel normal. She began to feel like Ramesh’s wife. She was no longer confused. She knew that she di right thing by marrying a person who loved her. Ramesh gave importance to his love not money. He went abroad to earn it since he wanted a house for her. She started to sense that it was possible that her in-laws might gave their house to someone else. She sensed that Ramesh did right. Slowly she began to forgive him for his decision of going out. It was not his mistake nor her. It was need of situation. Finally he settled in what he got. She was happy about it. They once again began their happy married life & Ravi was so happy in it. They were not rich but they had enough to keep themselves happy. Charu was now always smiling happily which was most important to Ramesh & Ravi. Ravi always wanted that smile on his Mom’s face. Ravi was happy to have it back & he knew that staying in new house was needed for it so he was glad that Ramesh did it. So in that family they decided to live happily in their house while forgetting what happened before.
