Adventure story 229. Talking with Mom

                                                               Talking with Mom
Alisha was relaxing in corner. It was her day off. She wanted to rest for some time. She was baby sitter of small baby. She knew that baby was resting happily in cot. When baby's Dad Kushal came, Kushal " So Swapnil is fine. " " Yes sir. And Swapna is also sleeping peacefully. " Alisha added. Kushal just nodded. But one thing was clear. He cared just for his son. Actually they had twins. Alisha noticed that his wife Chaitali was treating both children same way. But Kushal was just obsessed with his son. He went inside. He checked on him and then he came out. Alisha was so confused. She went inside. She took temperature of Swapna. She sensed that she had fever. She just felt that it was so wrong. She was checking Swapna again and again. But her temperature was not reducing. She decided that it was enough. She must woke up Chaitali. Alisha " Madam woke up. Baby is getting fever too high. " Chaitali woke up from her sleep. At beginning nothing made any sense to her then she was again wide awake. Chaitali " I will call Doctor." Chaitali called. Chaitali told Alisha that medicine which doctor told her. Alisha nodded. She ran away to buy medicine. Chaitali started calling Kushal who came running in room. " Swapna had heavy fever. We have to take her to hospital. If  Doctor gave me on medicine we will give it to her if it didn't reduce we need to take her to Doctor. " Kushal looked confused and tense "But what about Swapnil?" Alisha heard those words and she was so shocked. She never saw a father like that. It was so worst. He never talked about his daughter. But she was so tense regarding Swapna. She sensed that something was not right with her on first day. Swapna used to had breathing problem on every point. Her heart conditions were not great. She was so tense. She told that medicine and bought it. She forgot to take money from Chaitali but she didn't care. She just bought it. She ran back in house. But then she heard loud voice of crying. She sensed that it was too late. Swapna must had died without reaching to Doctor. Chaitali was crying loudly all society was gathered. Kushal was not visible but one thing was clear that he must be somewhere with his son. Alisha was so angry. She decided that she would quit her job. She didn't want to work for him. But then she looked at Chaitali. Chaitali was crying. She needed help. She couldn't left her alone like that in her sorrows. She went near her and started consoling her. She sensed one thing that she must do her jobjob as baby sitter since she needed to help Chaitali. She threw away that medicine in dustbin without thinking that she was wasting important thing. She was so upset at that moment that she didn't thought any thing else. She just wanted to show her anger by throwing that medicine. After all it proved just useless. She remembered so much effort. She had done with Chaitali to save Swapna but nothing helped. She was so sad . She sat near Chaitali and slowly started crying. She was looking at Swapna's dead body. So small!! So innocent!! Why did god did that? She felt that question from heart. But she knew that she never understand god on that issue so she just kept crying and touches Swapna with affection for last time while remembering all those days and nights when she saw her crying and laughing. All was gone in one moment. Alisha started crying loudly. She just couldn't control herself.
    From that day Alisha just never felt normal touch in house. She started sensing that Chaitali started remaining sad. Swapnil didn't manage to reduce her sorrows. She just kept thinking about her daughter. One day she suddenly asked Alisha " Do you feel I did injustice towards daughter while taking care of my son? " " No Madam. You never did that who said this to you? " Chaitali " Many people talked pointedly. " " Madam!! It is tendency of people to talk like that you must ignore them. Now try to train your mind that Swapnil is your son and you need to take care of him. You know very well that Swapna was born with heart problem so you can't change it. Can you? " Chaitali sensed her mistake. She started looking at ground. Then she slowly came near Swapnil and took him in her arms. Swapnil relaxed first time since his sister's death. He gave one smile with hope that his mother would play with him. Chaitali started doing it. Alisha smiled happily after all Swapnil deserved happiness. It was not his mistake that his sister died. Alisha was happy that Chaitali was taking good care of him. Then suddenly Kushal entered in room. Kushal "Where is my son?" He screamed so loudly that Swapnil started crying. He went near Chaitali and took him out of her hand. But that didn't suit baby. He started crying loudly. He wanted to sleep peacefully in his Mom's arms. Alisha was so shocked and angry. She just couldn't control herself. Alisha " You are upset child.Give it back." She forcibly took him and gave him back to his Mom. It was horrible. Kushal was behaving in worst way on every point. He just never seemed to be a good father to any child. He looked confused. But he went in corner of room. Then he started hanging some strange kind of things to window. Alisha soon sensed that he was trying to protect his child from evil eye. It was common with parents but in case of Kushal. She sensed some thing was so wrong because he just sat there. He began to watch them all with care. Then he started throwing some holy water on them. It was clear that he was confirming that they were not ghosts. Alisha was shocked. She just didn't able to find word but Chaitali screamed "What are you doing?" " I am taking care of your evil daughter. She is going to come back to kill my son." Chaitali and Alisha both were so shocked. They just didn't understand that how could a father talked this way. They just couldn't imagine that beautiful angelic baby casting evil eye on any one. Chaitali " What are you saying about my dead daughter? How dare you? She was angel and she was in heaven now with god. Why the hell she will come and cast evil eye on her own brother? She loved him. Many times when I use to put them in their baby cot. They used to smile at each other. They love each other. In fact Swapnil was missing his sister that's why he was crying. Am I wrong Alisha?" Chaitali looked at Alisha with hope. Swapnil was crying because he was missing his mother. He was not big enough to understand any thing about his sister. But it was not right moment to explain it so Alisha just nodded. Kushal " Of course. He will miss her. He is angel. But she is devil. She will come and kill him." Chaitali was angry that she ran on Kushal. Alisha had to hold her. Kushal got scared and went away. But Alisha sensed one thing from Kushal's face. It was just beginning. It was not getting over so soon.
   Alisha was so scared after that incidence. But Kushal started acting normal. Slowly they started to take Swapnil out of house. Swapnil also enjoyed it. When they returned sometimes Alisha noticed things were shifted from their position but she decided to ignore it. She knew that Chaitali didn't need more stress. Chaitali was finally adjusting. One day they were playing in garden. When suddenly dust came due to wind which went in Swapnil's nose, he started coughing. Chaitali tried to take him inside but he started screaming loudly. One thing was clear he wanted to stay outside. Alisha "Don't take him inside. I will fetch his water." Chaitali "Great. Take keys." Alisha took them. She went near door when she clearly heard a voice of man talking. She was so confused. Then she looked at lock. Door was open. She smiled. She felt that it was thief but it was just Kushal. She felt that some one must be inside. She decided to ring door bell. Suddenly talking was stopped. Kushal opened door. Kushal " What do you want? " "Actually I want to water for Swapnil." At beginning Kushal looked upset but when she said this, he smiled. He let her enter immediately. She started going inside. But she could not able to see any one. She was so confused. She was sure that she heard Kushal talking. But now she couldn't see any person. She started searching. But Kushal said from behind " Come on. Do it fast. Swapnil need it now not tomorrow." She just ran inside and took water and one cloth. She went out. But she never saw a person with whom he was talking. She just gave that water bottle to Chaitali. But Chaitali clearly saw confusion in her eyes. Chaitali " What happened?" "Nothing.." "Just tell it. Did Kushal do something?" "No Madam. Actually I heard some one talking to him then I don't see any one." "He must be talking on phone." Alisha " You are right Madam. I have develop such fear and anxiety in me." " I know. It happens. Let us play with Swapnil." They started playing with Swapnil. After some time they went back, Alisha sat with Swapnil and Chaitali started cooking. Every thing was perfect but still Alisha sensed that Kushal was looking in room again and again. He was acting in such strange way and if some one would snatch his son from him. But Alisha decided to ignore it since it was common after one death in house. But in her heart she knew that Kushal never cared that much for Swapna. But then she was his daughter so he must had sensed some fear and sorrows. Alisha decided that she must not act to harsh towards him. She decided to ignore him. From that Alisha decided that she should keep positive approach towards Kushal. She began to behave in normal way. But slowly she began to sense something was wrong. One day Kushal came from office and screamed for tea. As soon as Alisha began to go towards kitchen. He nicely requested for two cups. Alisha nodded. Then she heard clearly  that he was talking to his Mom about Swapnil. He was describing every part of Swapnil's day. It was clear that his Mom was excited about it. Finally Alisha came out and put down tea. Alisha saw that he had phone in hand. He suddenly asked " What is number of Swapnil's shirts?" " Sir it is not about number. It is about age. " Alisha was shocked. Kushal's Mom didn't know this small detail. Then Kushal spoke on phone " I know Mom you know every thing just try to understand I am new in this. Of course. It is just Alisha not Chaitali. Okay.. Okay. I will tell her not to talk to her about this. She will not tell. " Alisha nodded and went in room. She took baby in her hands. She looked at Chaitali. She was sleeping. It was hard for her to accept Swapnali's death. Alisha wished there was some one to help her. Chaitali's Mom was not that much healthy. She couldn't help her. But she never thought her mother-in-law was also alive. She decided that she would ask Chaitali about it when she woke up.
    Alisha started seeing every day Kushal was chatting with his Mom. But then one day he suddenly threw away his phone when he was talking. He began to say he must not do that. She just didn't understood what was wrong. She thought that there must be some fight between son and mother. She didn't want to interfere she just went away. But she sensed one thing that she must not suggest this to Chaitali. Then one day suddenly Kushal came to her. Kushal " Take this phone." "Yes sir." She took it. But no one was talking on it. Alisha " Just dial tone sir." "That's it." There was tears in his eyes. She didn't understood it's meanings but she just sensed one thing. That there was some trouble. She didn't understand what because Kushal started crying. He couldn't control himself. Finally Alisha ran in room to call Chaitali. But she must had heard crying because she was coming in room. Chaitali " What happened?" " Sir gave me his phone and when I said that I heard nothing. He started crying. Now Chaitali looked confused. She ran towards Kushal. Chaitali " Are you talking to your Mom again? Just answer me. Are you?" Kushal just nodded and Chaitali started crying loudly. Alisha just kept observing. She just didn't understand what was so bad in talking with elderly Mom. Even if that is Mom did he made mistake it could be forgiven. Alisha was so shocked and confused. Since Chaitali never seemed that much harsh to her. But now she looked worst in every angle. It was so strange. How could anyone act like that specially Chaitali. She seemed like nice woman. But this was so horrible. Kushal's Mom seemed attached to him. Suddenly Chaitali sensed that Alisha was standing there. She forced Kushal to come with her in room. It was so strange. Alisha started with one thought that it was not right. She began to feel that Chaitali was not that much nice. Until now she always used to think why such a thing happen to Chaitali but now she began to feel that it might be due to her this mistake. But then she suddenly thought that there might be some season. Her mother-in-law might be some evil woman who planted in Kushal's head that son was better than daughter. Then suddenly phone rang. It was Kushal's Dad. Alisha told that to Kushal. It was clear that they didn't want her there so she just made excuse and went out. When she was walking watchman noticed her face. He was nice elderly man who talked with her like elder brother. "What happened?" She told him all. She never used to do that but today it was too much for her so she just said it. This was so strange. She had to tell it. But watchman was so shocked. Watchman " But I know Kushal sir from young age. His Mom is dead." "Now it is not possible. He was talking to her." They both looked confused. Alisha "Do you think he might have step mother?" Watchman " No. It was not possible. I know it. I feel that it must be that problem which my Dad told." "What?!!" "I can't tell you. But just stay away from Kushal Sir. He is not normal." Alisha was confused but she just nodded. She knew that she had to do as that watchman said. He was her well wisher. She started to stay away from her sir. It was easy since from that day Chaitali just kept telling her to do work for Swapnil. She never told her any work related to Kushal. So every thing was fine with Alisha. She was away from that mystery but somewhere in heart she wanted to solve it. But she decided that it was better to be safe than sorry. She still wanted to know.
    But Alisha soon understood that it was not easy to avoid seeing problem when one person was staying with another person. One day Swapnil started crying. She had to go out to bring milk. She started to move when Kushal screamed " What do you think you are doing?" "What sir?" Kushal smiled and said " I am not talking to you. But I am talking to Mom." Kushal started screaming on an invisible woman. It was so scary. Alisha just didn't want to stand there. She knew that she could not quit job like that. She started thinking one thought that this fellow might kill her. He was looking in air with such anger. He was saying many things which went above her head. But she sensed one thing that Kushal was mad fellow. He must be mad from beginning only. She suddenly felt that he could hurt her or Swapnil. She just took milk and sat in room with Swapnil. She locked herself for many hours. She was so scared that Kushal would come in room. She began to remember all those movies in which mental person broke door and manage to kill all people inside. It was so hard for her. She just wanted to go back in her home. She decided that she would return to her village. She could find some job in farm but she was not going to work on baby sitter job. She just wanted to return Swapnil to Chaitali and ran away. Finally there was knock on door, She sensed fear because it must be Kushal. Alisha " GO Away sir. I will not open door until Madam will not come." Chaitali " Open door. It is just me." Alisha opened door in small gap. She looked out. She saw that it was just Chaitali. Chaitali came inside. "Alisha don't worry. Kushal had this problem since childhood. He used to talk his dead Mom for hours. But then slowly it stopped. He was just fine. But when he married to me, he told me every thing. But then suddenly due to death of Swapnali it returned." "So you married him while knowing." Chaitali nodded. Alisha "Why?" "Actually I know it after marriage since one day his friend told me." Alisha sensed that Chaitali was not telling truth that she had to find truth. She began to understand one thought from mind. She needed to move ahead with aggressive way. "Madam stop lying. Or I will complaint to agency about this. Then you will not get any baby sitter." Chaitali looked scared then finally she told her " Actually he never told me. His family never said any thing but as soon as he saw his daughter, he looked upset. He didn't want a daughter because his Mom hated girls. He started talking about his Mom again and again. Then his Dad told me about his sickness. On same point we knew about Swapnali. I talked with psychiatrist. He told me that it was post traumatic symptoms. It happened with children on death of their parents. He also warned me that since Kushal was talking about his Mom again and again. It might indicate returning of his problem. When Swapnali died, he sensed that she would hate him because he hated her daughter so he started searching for his Mom again and this problem began. He would not hurt you. I will make sure about it. Just don't quit. I will pay more money." Alisha was confused. Alisha " I want to talk with psychiatrist." Then Chaitali took her to their psychiatrist. He explained Alisha that Kushal would just keep talking to his Mom but would not harm her. Alisha "But he can't keep on like that." "No..NO..I will treat him. But I don't want any one new now. It would effect him. Since he trust you, but he will not trust new baby sitter with Swapnil." Then Chailati offered large salary. Alisha agreed. At beginning she was scared but slowly she adjusted with Kushal. After all she was getting enough compensation. She even asked another Doctor friend who confirmed that diagnosis. So finally Alisha settled but she always tried to avoid Kushal.
