Escape from home
Tara woke up
late as always. She was expecting criticism from her mom but no one came in her
room. She looked towards time. It was already so late still her mom didn’t
come. She felt so upset. She slowly came out of her room. She started walking
around. She looked around her mom was nowhere. She began to call her mom. After
sometime her dad came out. Her Dad said with angry look “Your mom is not coming.”
She asked with shock. “Why? What happened?” “She got tired of us. She found one
rich man & ran away.” Tara was so shocked. This was something she just
heard in movies & stories. This never happened with her in life. She always
felt positive in life towards her mom. She argued. “Mom will not leave us. You
are lying.” Her dad looked towards her in anger “Why should I do that?” She
didn’t have answer on it but she knew one thing that he didn’t have reason to
lie. She began to think about possibilities. It seemed so hard. Her mom never
got out of house to meet any one. It was impossible to imagine her mom was dating
someone. But then she felt she needed to accept whatever before her. She slowly
asked her dad “So how will we manage now?” Her dad “Of course on our own.” Tara
felt scared. But she began to feel that she needed to accept truth. Her mom had
left her. She felt so negative about everything. She decided to that she needed
to think in positively about all. She knew that her mom was gone. She supposed
to take care of herself. She smiled & said “It’s okay. We will manage.” Her
dad nodded. She was hoping her dad would help. But on next day her dad did
nothing. Dad kept telling her to do everything. She started to get late for her
college. She tried to tell it to Dad. Her dad laughed & asked “Are you
planning to do some big career?” She turned her head in both positions once it
was in “Yes” & it was in “No”. She was totally uncertain. Her Dad started
to laugh. “Come on. College is not that important. You can enjoy yourself more
at home. Just complete tasks which your mom used to do. You will need them more
after marriage.” She nodded. She agreed to all since she didn’t want to go to
college. She didn’t have any friends in college. She hated to study too. She
began to feel that it was better to handle kitchen instead. Her dad went away
& she started doing household chores. She began to feel nice since it
seemed like nice exercise & she began to feel more useful. She started to
feel that finally she was truly doing some work. Her mom was no longer part of
her family. Her mom deserted her & she was going to make certain that there
would be nothing lack in house due absence of her mom. She was planning to
replace her mom totally. She began to dislike her mom. She was not going to
permit her heart to miss her mom since her mom was not worth it.
Tara didn’t inform anyone. She just
kept working whole time while ignoring her studies. After seven days door bell
rang, she opened door her mom was there. She looked towards her mom with shock.
Her dad came from behind & said “So you came after visiting your mom?” Her
dad was laughing. She was so shocked. Her dad told her lies. She was working so
hard to manage house when her mom came back, she sensed that it was just lie.
Her dad laughed loudly. She didn’t want to tell her mom what she thought. Her
mom kept looking towards her. She just smiled nervously. She sensed that soon
her mom would take over kitchen & she needed to go back to college. Her dad
convinced her to ignore studies but now her mom would want her to study
seriously. She ignored so much. She sensed that she didn’t have any notes when
her examination was so near. She smiled & said “Mom I need to meet my
friend to get notes.” “Of course. You need to study harder.” Tara ran in her
room. She called her friend & told everything. Her friend “How could your
dad lied to you like that?” “I don’t know…” She didn’t want to cry but she
started to cry. She was feeling so sad. She started to cry on phone call. She
felt so negative by all. She didn’t want to tell this to mom. She said slowly
“Everything was moving in wrong way. Dad lied. I don’t like mom that much so I
am not planning to tell her anything. I feel so alone.” “You need to be
careful. You must not trust your dad anymore.” She nodded slowly. She suddenly
sensed one shadow was near her door. She slowly looked towards it. She felt so
nervous. She said slowly “I think he is listening our conversation.” Her friend
“Why?” Her friend sounded so shocked. She slowly took deep breath & said
“He is strange man. I am scared of him.” “You need to talk with your mom.” “No,
I don’t need it. I am coming to your house to get college notes. I hope it will
be okay if I stay for some time to study.” “It will be great.” Tara
disconnected call. She ran towards door but it was too late that shadow was gone.
Tara took deep breath to calm herself. She decided that she would concentrate
on her future. She took out nice dress. She managed to select a beautiful purse
too. She looked inside her cupboard. She could buy so many items. Her life was
perfect. She was living comfortable life due to her dad’s income so she needed
to adjust with this. She told herself that it was okay. She got ready. She came
out. Her dad was sitting in hall watching TV. He always did that. He looked
towards her & said “So going out to get notes but I don’t understand if you
don’t plan to do career why does you need to waste your money & time on
getting education.” “Since it is essential for future!” She said with
determination. She was so upset. She knew that her dad was discouraging her
when she was alone. She was certain before mom he would change his entire tune.
She knew that she needed
to avoid him. She just took her backpack & she ran out of house. She was so
breathless when she reached to elevator. She needed to start it. It was every day
job but she was so scared. She needed to calm her mind. She needed to select
floor carefully. Her life was no longer so easy. She didn’t understand what was
happening to her. She knew that if she complained her mom would not believe
her. In fact, she was finding it hard to believe herself. She was getting this
kind of treatment by her dad was something shocking. She knew that dad didn’t
like her that much. But she was not doing anything against him. Still, he was
irritating her. She decided that she needed to go in friend’s house. She needed
to cover all her studies before examination. It was very important.
Tara felt
so stressed. When she reached to her friend’s house, her hands were shaking.
Her friend’s elder sister opened door. She smiled sweetly towards Tara &
asked “What happened? You look very exhausted.” She wanted to tell all but she
was too scared. She just smiled & said “It was so hot. I felt so exhausted
while coming.” “I hope you have taken Auto?” She was too scared even to take
Auto money. She just ran out without second thought. She smiled nervously &
said “I forgot to take money.” “Oh!” Then she went inside her friend’s room.
She began to get so frustrated. She knew that her dad would keep creating
different troubles for them. She went in her friend’s room. She told
everything. Her friend “But you need to discuss this with your mom?” “She will
not believe me.” “Why?” “Because she considers me useless.” “But you managed
house for so many days when your mom was gone away.” “She feels dad done all.”
“It’s impossible. Your mom knows very well your dad can’t cook.” She looked
towards her friend. She sensed that it was right. Her mom was also part of
dad’s plan. She shivered. “I am alone in that house.” “I wish only if I can
help. But you can see we are not rich too.” Tara immediately looked around.
That house was small but anyone could see family was not rich. Her dad had
enough money. It was so sad that her dad never wanted to spend anything on his
family. She was hoping that it would change but now she knew that it wouldn’t.
She felt so nervous. She looked around. She knew her dad was not there but
still she was scared. She began to concentrate on her studies. She knew that
getting good marks was only way out of this. She felt if she could get good
marks. She could marry nice boy. She would out of this mess. She began to think
about different suitors suggested for her. She knew that she must not become
too choosy. She needed to except any one with good income. She decided that she
would select any boy who would show positivity towards her. She began to study
hard. Finally, she needed to go back. She shivered by thought of returning to
home. She started to feel so suffocated. It was really frustrating. She needed
to feel hopeful but her mind kept getting on negative side. She wanted to just
stay in her friend’s house but she knew that it was not possible. Finally, she
called one Auto her friend’s elder sister made payment & sent her home. She
knew that she was going back to hell.
Tara’s dad was
waiting for her. He didn’t like the way she went to spend time in her friend’s
house. He didn’t like to give her freedom. She supposed to stay under his
thumb. He was so upset when she didn’t come in few hours. Finally, she
returned. He began to scream on her. He started throwing things. She was so
scared. She began to look for mom but she didn’t find her. She started to
scream & call her mom. She began to search for mom. She was scared of her
dad. She ran towards balcony. She went in it. She locked its door. She didn’t
want that man near her. She wanted to keep him away. She looked towards balcony
railing. She decided to stand on it. She began to do that. On that point one
cop saw it from road. He came running. He began to tell her to stop. She
screamed “My dad will harm me.” Cop told her to stop & came inside running.
She came down. But she was scared. She felt cop might not believe her. When cop
knocked her dad opened door. Dad told cop that she was throwing all & she
lost her mind. Cop nodded. She felt so scared but then Cops called psychiatrist
& said “She must visit one.” Dad didn’t mind. Her dad smiled. She shivered.
She felt that she was doomed. Then one lady cop came. She went with Cops to
psychiatrist. Her dad came with them too. Her dad kept convincing all that she
was mad person. Most of cops nodded. Then she finally reached to hospital.
Psychiatrist told all to go out & talked with her. She told all. Then
Psychiatrist called her dad & told she needed to be admitted. Dad didn’t
want to but he didn’t have option. As soon as her dad left psychiatrist
explained cops her dad had mental issues & he was risky for Tara. Then
psychiatrist told Cops to make arrangement to keep Tara safe. Cops found one
place where Tara could stay. It was college hostel. Tara was scared to go there
but she didn’t have option. They told her dad that they needed money for
treatment. Her dad gave it. Her mom came to meet her too. But Tara didn’t want
to meet her. Tara knew that her mom didn’t care for her. Tara shifted in that
hostel. Tara broke contacts with her parents completely. She sensed that after
that Cop case her parents were scared to interfere too. Then she heard that
they had another child. They forgot about her. She sensed that this child was
their favourite. They stopped contacting her. She completed her education. Then
she began to study to become Cop. She wanted to become strong. She didn’t want
to feel scared again. She started to concentrate on her education. Slowly that
Tara who was scared of her dad vanished completely. She began to become brave.
When her parents learnt about her choice of career they kept away from her
& she was happy about it. She was certain about one thing after completing
her education. She would not take their money but she would take all those
investments which they made in her name. She had right on them. She deserved it
for tolerating them for such long time.
