Learning to drive
Ajit was so
happy to start his new lesson of driving. He wanted to learn it for long time
but his dad never permitted it. He used to see his friends’ driving cars with
such a confidence but he was never permitted. It was always considered
something less since he needed to call Cab every time he needed to go out. He
knew that his friends also didn’t bring their cars every time but they got one
car for themselves. It was becoming ego issue for him. Most importantly he
didn’t like way his father kept dominating on him. It was making everything so
difficult for him. He was no longer important person in eyes of people. They
all felt that he was just show of his father so it was not just about car. His
father kept dominating on his every decision. He tried to complaint to his mom
but his mom had special respect for his father. His mom told him clearly “Your
father earned it all so you got everything due to him so you must do whatever
he says. One day you might start earning but still it will never cross earnings
of your father. You will have just limited earning. These luxuries are just due
to your father so it’s your duty to obey him.” He was feeling so frustrated
when he remembered words of his mom. He knew that he needed to do whatever his
dad told. He decided that he still needed to discuss about learning to drive.
Ajit decided that he would talk when his dad came in night from office. He wanted
that car at any cost. He needed to keep positivity in mind. He needed to talk
sweetly with his dad. He knew that he must control his anger then only he could
find some way to get that car. He began to think things which he could say to
please his dad. He never insulted his dad or didn’t want to say anything
against his dad’s wishes but on some point, he needed to oppose him. He
couldn’t just always say “Yes” to all. He observed his mom always said yes to
all. But for him it was impossible so he needed to please his dad. It was going
to be problematic for him. He tried so hard for days. He wanted to earn better
income. But he couldn’t. It was just not enough. He felt so sad. He knew that
he needed his dad for moving ahead. He started to think about things which his
dad liked. He knew that his dad liked old movies or old songs. He began to
search for them. He wanted to find something unique but when he began to look
towards costs, he sensed that it was not wise to waste so much money. He knew
that if he did, his dad would just abuse him. He didn’t understand how could he
please his dad. He felt so nervous. He sensed that he couldn’t do anything to
please dad. His dad never felt happy by his any action. He felt so sad. He knew
that his dad preferred his friend’s son more. His dad kept admiring him daily.
He didn’t understand why. But it was always same. His mom never complaint.
Sometimes he felt that his dad was obsessed by that friend’s wife. He shivered
when he began to thought that way. He knew that he must not think that way. It
was so wrong to suggest such a horrible thing about his dad. He knew that his dad was honest to
his mom. He decided that he would order some tasty food for dad. Then he found
better option. His mom would cook it for him. He called his mom. His Mom felt
frustrated at beginning due to increase of work but then she agreed. His Mom
gave him big list for items he needed to get for that food. He nodded. He
worked hard to get those items then he even helped his mom little bit in
kitchen. Finally, he managed to create on feast for his dad. He needed to do it
since he wanted to please his dad.
When Ajit’s dad
came home, he immediately sensed that Ajit wanted something from him. His dad
was so happy. In these sort of situation he get big chance to humiliate Ajit.
He wanted Ajit to stay under his control. He didn’t like when Ajit gets carried
away. He saw same thing with his younger brother. His brother used to get
carried away same way & now his brother was dead. He didn’t want same
future for his son Ajit. Ajit’s dad didn’t say anything. He permitted Ajit to
entertain him in best way. Ajit was treating his dad like King & his dad
loved it. His dad didn’t bring any subject. His dad just started eating. Finally,
Ajit decided to start conversation. Ajit “Dad I needed to learn driving.”
“Why?” Ajit didn’t know what should be answer of this question. People liked to
learn driving. It was not unique demand but his dad presented it as if some
unique demand. It was so wrong. “Dad mostly people learn driving.” “I know but
mostly people learn to earn more than you. But you are not earning that much.” Ajit
was so upset. Ajit knew that every time it came to his earning & due to his
less earning, he got nothing. It was so odd when person had good earnings that
one would receive gifts & when someone didn’t have that one was not
getting. One who didn’t earn actually needed to get gifts but in life Ajit saw
different rules. Ajit didn’t say anything. Then he suddenly got one idea. “Dad
driving is one skill. It can be useful in increasing earning too.” Ajit’s dad
stopped eating. His dad never thought that he would have such horrible idea.
“Ajit, Stop this nonsense! I don’t want you to become driver. Just search more
attentively for jobs.” Ajit felt so hurt. He wanted to earn. He didn’t mind to
become even driver. He felt so hurt when his dad began to criticise his option
to work as driver. He didn’t understand what was wrong in taking job of driver.
He slowly said “If I can get job of driver, I will get better payment.” “&
if you done accident what will be its results?! Do you feel that you are truly
capable of driving?” Ajit began to feel little nervous. He had never tried to
drive. He told himself that everything would be fine. It was so disturbing to
have things as per his demands. He began to feel so scared. He didn’t want to
be involved in any accident. He decided that he wouldn’t learn to drive. It was
better to avoid it. He needed positivity in his life. He didn’t need more
tension. Then his dad continued “I will arrange one job for you. You can join
my friend in his shop. You can keep everything properly & he will even give
you nice salary.” Now Ajit didn’t want this. Ajit was feeling shocked. Ajit
didn’t understand why did he needed to work under his dad’s friend who
humiliated him publicly. It was horrible. He needed to get over it. But he was still
kept remembering it. He didn’t want to work for that friend. He was certain
that his dad was talking about just that friend. He said “I prefer to be
driver.” “Okay. But let’s wait for some more time. I personally don’t like your
idea.” His dad said it in such way that after hearing him Ajit felt that he had
full freedom to choose. He was even happy about it. He decided that he would
discuss with his friends & then he would decide. After dinner they all went
to sleep. Ajit’s dad was planning properly how to manipulate Ajit’s mind. He
was not going to permit Ajit to learn driving. His son needed to do whatever he
wanted. He owned his son Ajit since he spent so much money on Ajit. He was not going
to permit Ajit to do whatever Ajit wanted. But dad knew that if he had told it
to Ajit on face. Ajit would have fought back if he had said ‘no’ so he needed
to use some tricks. Ajit needed to agree with him & his dad was planning to
manage it.
From next
morning Ajit began to search for someone who help him in learning driving. Ajit
felt so stressed when he sensed that no one was taking interest in teaching him
driving or even ready to those who once promised to teach him already began to
deny too. Ajit didn’t understand why. Ajit felt that they were not interested
in him. Ajit never thought that his dad managed to threaten them. He thought
that his dad was just little bit scared but when he would convince his dad
would agree to all. Ajit felt that someone would teach him. Then he began to
think about driving schools. He began to read about them. He felt that it was
more promising. He just needed to go in some driving school & he knew then
only he could manage to drive car on road. He felt so upset by all. He slowly began
to think about routes he could take for those driving classes. He knew that he
was daydreaming. But he didn’t mind. He wanted to dream something positive. He
needed to create hopes in mind. He began to search hard. On that point his mom
suddenly came running in his room. “Your dad’s friend came to visit us.” He was
so shocked. “But why did that man come on this time? Dad never remains home at
this time!” “I know but this person said he was just visiting someone from
hospital & then he came here.” Ajit felt so frustrated but he decided that
he needed to go out. His mom couldn’t keep entertaining his dad’s friend. He
went out. Dad’s friend seemed very happy to meet him. Dad’s friend immediately
apologised for disturbing them. Then dad’s friend continued. “Actually, I went in
hospital to visit one friend. His son insisted on buying car. He gave it but
his son did accident. Some one died. Now his son is in jail & due to stress
he got heart attack. After watching his condition, I don’t feel much hope. His
wife was crying so much. His wife didn’t understand what she supposed to do.
Son was in jail. Those jails are not nice places.” Ajit began to feel so
scared. He had heard few bad stories of jail but he never saw anyone who
actually went to jail for crime. He was hearing this for first time. Ajit asked
“This son who did accident from where he learnt to drive?” “From one reputed
driving academy.” Dad’s friend gave one name & Ajit shivered. It was best
academy for learning to drive. Ajit was not planning for such costly academy
but now he began to feel if that academy couldn’t stop accident, then what
would be future of person who learnt from cheaper academy. He began to shiver.
Then Dad’s friend asked “Have you learn to drive?” “NO!” “Then never learn.
It’s better to avoid it.” Ajit nodded & Ajit decided to not learn driving.
Ajit felt so scared. Ajit decided to avoid it.
Ajit’s dad was
so happy when Ajit stopped mentioning that driving. Ajit’s dad wanted to stop
that. Ajit supposed to work under his friend. Ajit’s dad just wanted him to do
that job. Ajit’s dad decided that he needed to work harder to force Ajit. His
dad began to just discuss accidents repeatedly in house. His dad was observing that
there was different sort of fear in Ajit’s eyes. Ajit felt so nervous. Ajit wanted
to feel positive but his mind was moving towards negative. He didn’t like the
way his dad was discussing negative things. It was having impact on his mind.
He wanted to avoid them. But even when he went in other room, his dad screamed
so loudly that he kept hearing about those accidents. He knew that he needed to
concentrate on his career & future. But it was not going in easy way. He
told himself that he could do all from home. He didn’t need to go out. He was
so scared. He didn’t understand what was happening to him. He wanted to just
remain in room. He was too scared to even go on road. He kept thinking about
those accidents. He didn’t understand why. His dad was just normally gossiping
about those accidents. It was nothing special. He couldn’t point out place of
fear properly. Ajit began to blame himself for being so coward. He decided that
he needed to take walk. When he began to go out suddenly, he saw one message.
It was sent by some relative. It was something about accident. He shivered. He
told himself that he needed to ignore it. Ajit never felt so much fear as he
felt on that day when he decided to go out for walk. Every car was looking
scary. Ajit was feeling so frustrated. Ajit kept watching on road. Ajit was getting
so uneasy. He went back in home again. Ajit began to sit in his room &
started to work. Slowly his dad began to taunt him more. But Ajit was too
scared to go out. Finally, one day Ajit’s one friend suggested one counsellor
to Ajit. Ajit was too scared to go at beginning but then he decided that he
needed to. Many companies were demanding personal visits from him to do their
work. Ajit went to that Psychiatrist. Slowly Psychiatrist listened to Ajit.
Psychiatrist explained him that how did his dad developed this phobia in Ajit.
Step by step Ajit began to sense how did Ajit could handle it. Finally, one day
Ajit joined driving school against wishes of his dad. Ajit even purchased one
second hand car. Ajit’s dad was so angry & upset but Ajit decided to ignore.
Ajit wanted to live his life so he began to move ahead in his way. That
Psychiatrist taught him how to handle his fears. He began to feel confident
step by step.
