Tina's perfect mother-in-law
Tina was thinking all that she did yesterday. She was so happy that she had completed all her important tasks. She smiled happily. She was so sure that she needed to find someone to help her but she saw everything was just perfect. She couldn't believe it. She finished all so soon. She was so confused. She supposed to order servant for her but it happened without it. She was so shocked. She supposed to call at least. She didn't even remember how many people but today she received message from them all thanking her for inviting. She smiled happily. It was marriage invitation of her sister-in-law and she wanted it to be perfect. She didn't want to get blame from anyone about it. She wanted it to be perfect. Her husband Raja promised to help but she knew that she would surely miss someone. It was much big gathering. She knew that it would be worst thing if she missed someone! It seemed so wrong to miss someone like that out of crowd. It was considered as big insult. She was so tense. But she didn't understand how did she managed. She just knew one thing that she managed. Today when she woke up she saw email of all people confirming that they would come. She jumped with joy. It was truly strange but she didn't remember calling or emailing them. But if they were coming then she would be lucky. She didn't understand why she didn't feel healthy. She knew that from childhood she had her physical troubles. But she never thought that they would in so much by age. She knew that when person grew older physical troubles increased. Her life was not so easy. She kept feeling something was wrong daily. Her husband Raja was nice. He never said anything but she always manage to receive taunts from his parents. Like last time she was so sure that she would everything fine. But it all went wrong. They were living independently. No one was there to touble their life. Everything was perfect. His parents didn't live with them but sometimes they called them for dinner which was not wrong thing. They supposed to visit his old parents time to time. She remembered first time she went. She was so excited. She just learnt to cook new sweet dish. She was pleased when it tasted perfect. She showed it to Raja with confidence. He smiled and admired it's taste. She felt that her life was going to be perfect. She smiled. She dressed in dark green. She liked that saree. She felt that her mother-in-law would prefer saree. During time of marriage she admired sarees and kept saying wearing saree was great thing. She wanted to impress her mother-in-law so she wore saree and did all traditional get up. She asked Raja about it. He nodded. Honestly Raja never took interest in clothing. But still he helped her to make her saree right as much as he could. He was not expert but he did his best. Then they went in his parent's house. His brother and sister were present. When she entered they all gave her strange look as if she was some exhibit of museum. She sensed it but she smiled and convinced herself that it was just her thinking. She went inside. She was hoping that someone would admire her look or dressing style. But they all just discussed weather. It seemed as if intentionally they avoided discussing her look. She sensed one thing that they didn't like her. They were upset with everything she did. She was in kitchen. But she was alone in corner. They kept discussing their own issues. She tried to include herself but no one seemed interested in including her. She was unknown to them and they were trying to keep her that way. They didn't want her to become part of it. She was trying so hard. She wanted someone to care for her. She was so confused. She was part of that family but still she didn't treated like one. She was daughter-in-law like their elder son's wife but she was one of them. Still she was treated differently. She thought that they would accept her. But they didn't even try. She decided to not give so she went ahead & presented her dish. Her sister-in-law " What is this? This seem too oily!" " It is deep fried." " My God. It must have so many calories?" They rejected it. Her mother-in-law interfered. She stopped them from taunting Tina. Her mother-in-law gave forced smile & took bite. It seemed as if she was eating most disgusting thing. Her mother-in-law said " Nice!" But she sensed that it was worst. Their kitchen was full of ladies who disliked it. Her sister-in-law immediately started different subject and her dish was ignored. She felt so sad. It was not sister-in-law who was getting married. This was younger sister-in-law who was studying in abroad on that time. She felt so upset. Still she smiled. But when they came near door to say good bye. Her mother-in-law told her slowly "Honey don't take it in bad way but we don't wear saree that much. Next time wear dress otherwise people will observe you in strange way." Tina looked around. She felt as if neighborhood was watching her or laughing on her. She was so confused. She never thought wearing traditional dress like saree would be considered such wrong thing. She tried to hide her tears. She immediately made excuse and ran back to car. Raja was so happy about seeing his parents. He didn't sense her sorrows. Raja kept chatting with them while she ran in car and cried. On that day she thanked God that she was not staying with his parents. But she couldn't say no to small job they told her. She felt so happy when she was given this job. She checked properly that every one was invited. She smiled and went to her normal work. She didn't understand when did she completed her work. She was so confused. She started to remind herself of it but she totally forgot when she did it. It was wonderful that her work was done. She didn't understand how could she completed it in such perfect way. She still remembered one thing that her head started paining strongly and she fall asleep on computer. She was become sick again and again. She didn't understand what was cause. But this time she at least managed to complete her work. She smiled happy while cooking.
Tina's mother-in-law Shanti Bai was happy to manage to find nice son-in-law. Her younger daughter was not so interested in her studies but still they sent her forcibly to abroad with purpose to stop her connecting with wrong type of boys. Here her younger daughter managed to make friendship with boy who was not suitable for their class. Shanti Bai was totally conscious about class. She wanted just high class connection in her family. Tina was most low one. Her father had a small garment shop. It was prosperous one. But just one shop! He didn't even have any connections with high class famous people. Shanti Bai didn't like it. But then Raja was not even earning so much. She felt that Raja was sort of failure so she needed to understand just garment shop owner would accept him as his son-in-law. High class people wanted more education. Raja was nice boy but he had strange sort of stubborness in his nature. She didn't like it. It was not right to act stubborn like that. It really managed to hurt their reputation. Raja always liked to make friendship with common boys which was sin in her eyes. She didn't understand how could he act like that. Then his cheap wife came in that disgusting green saree on first day! She was sure that entire neighborhood was watching them. She didn't understand how did person supposed to act. Shanti always wanted to show her neighbour how much freedom she gave to her daughter-in-law so if Tina came in saree they might feel that Shanti forced it. If it was modern style saree with stylish blouse then it was perfect but Tina's green saree was so traditional. It seemed like out of some historical fiction. She hated Tina each day. Tina was useless from first day. While her first daughter-in-law brought new contacts in house with her money and reputation. Tina brought nothing. Tina was creating just chaos in her life. She noticed on each day Tina was bringing new troubles in life. Today she told Tina to sent invitation for her marriage of her daughter. But she was not sure that Tina would even able to do it. Tina was biggest trouble of her life. She knew that after sometime Tina would get pregnant then she would have kids and she needed to treat them like her grandchildren. She knew that they were her true grandchildren but she didn't want them. She knew that it was wrong. She didn't need to hate those kids which were not even born. But she was hating them. She was feeling so upset. She didn't sense that her class consciousness. Then suddenly she saw her mobile was ringing. It was mother-in-law of her daughter. She immediately took call. " Hello how are you?" " I am fine." Then she didn't spoke anything for moment. Shanti Bai sensed that something was wrong. When someone kept quiet, she knew that thing was serious. Shanti Bai was so tense. " What's wrong?" " Actually I saw your invitation that day." " Our invitation!" Without second thought she asked " What's wrong with it?" Her daughter's mother-in-law laughed slowly. " So you sensed that something might be wrong in it! Who did it?!" " Actually my younger daughter-in-law insisted that she would do it! She is talented but not mature enough.." " She don't belong to rich family so she doesn't get that upbringing which make her wise. I hope you understand it so I don't want her to interfere with my son's wedding. I hope you don't mind! This is invitation so I can tell all some designer messed it. You tried new one. It's modern art etc. But in case of gift decor or anything else! Just keep her away." Shanti Bai agreed. She immediately called Tina. Shanti Bai told her entire incidence & instructed to stay away. She agreed. Tina was feeling okay but on that day she suddenly developed back pain. It was so horrible. She didn't understand what was it. She never experienced such a pain. She started to remember what could be cause of it. Then she remembered that she sent those all invitations. It was big mistake. She didn't understand how did she supposed to design still she did it & then she sent it. Everything was mistake. She was unhealthy due to it. She understood how did her stomach was paining when she started to design those cards. She knew that she didn't choose colour properly due to pain of her body. She clicked just wrong colour. She was so sure about it. She knew that they didn't like bright colour still she clicked on wrong one. It was so frustrating. She knew that she was so sick. She decided that she needed to tell this to her Shanti Bai. So she called back. " Mom actually I got it wrong since I was little sick!" Shanti Bai spirit sounded shocked. Shanti Bai never heard about Tina's physical problems. Shanti Bai smiled happily. Shanti Bai felt ray of hope. Shanti Bai felt that it was possible that due to bad health Tina managed to confuse all. After all her parents were not rich so they might took her to some useless Doctor not expert. They could afford big expert & she would start working properly. She could dress with class. Shanti Bai felt convinced at beginning. But then she sensed that sickness couldn't cause all those mistakes. Shanti Bai felt that it might be just excuse. She didn't understand what was truth. But she felt one thing that she needed to show Tina to some Doctor. She felt so helpless regarding this daughter-in-law. Tina was not improving at all. But she decided that she would recommend good doctors to Tina anyway. Shanti Bai didn't trust her any judgement. She wanted Tina to go to best Doctor. Shanti Bai decided that she would use this as opportunity to as chance to dominate Tina. She decided that she would teach Tina how to behave so she encouraged her. Shanti Bai " Really what happened to you? Tell me in detail?" Tina was so happy. First time her mother-in-law was taking interest in something regarding her. Tina began to explain her sickness. She started to tell about her pains in body. She began to give every detail & Shanti Bai kept giving sympathy to her. Tina liked it so much. Tina was on top of the world.
When finally Tina disconnected mobile, Shanti Bai was convinced that her daughter-in-law was creating drama. But she needed a chance to enter in her life so she decided to take it. She called her Doctor and took appointment. She said " Actually my daughter-in-law is planning for baby so I want to physically check her. Make sure she is fit." Doctor sounded happy. " This is really great idea. I will give you appointment." Shanti Bai smiled that she called Tina immediately. She suggested that she should come at her home from morning. Tina agreed and Shanti Bai smiled happily. This time Tina dressed in normal & simple dress. It was such common dress that no one would notice her. She was happy that she managed to choose it since Shanti Bai didn't object it. But then after some seconds maid came to clean. Tina was shocked to see that she was wearing similar dress. Tina felt so upset. She began to sense that she was shivering from inside. But still she kept same smiley face on outside. Shanti Bai was laughing from inside. This time her maid managed to teach lesson to Tina. Shanti Bai never hoped that this would be managed so easily. Now she didn't need to taunt Tina and she understood. Shanti Bai slowly turned to her and said in slow voice" Go in my room you can find some dress. Change it immediately!" Tina nodded and ran inside. Tina felt so strange when she went inside. She was feeling something was wrong with her. She went inside. She tried to look normal. But she knew that she wasn't feeling well. She ran to mirror. She touched her forehead. It wasn't hot so she didn't have temperature. She didn't understand why did she feeling so sick. She felt impact but she didn't find cause of it. She kept feeling restless. She was feeling so unhealthy. She wanted to feel normal. But she was not. She turned towards cupboard. She started searching in dresses. She didn't even able to see their colour properly. Something was wrong with her. She wanted to steady herself. She sat on bed took deep breath. She felt little better. She went towards cupboard and decided to wear simple cotton dress. She tried to fit in it. Soon she sensed that it was too tight. She was stuck inside dress. She started to get breathless in it. She tried to come out of dress. She couldn't call anyone for help. In her house she was always keep expecting help from Raja. But here she was alone on her own. It was so scary. She tried her best to fit in that dress but she couldn't. It was horrible. Then she heard that miserable sound. She knew that she was getting breathless. She was having that attack. She didn't had it before. She saw her one friend having this asthma attack. But she never had it. She started to try to relax herself. But nothing worked. Shanti Bai waited for long time and when Tina didn't came out she finally went inside. Shanti Bai was shocked when she saw plump Tina trying to enter in her desinger dress. It was her favourite. Shanti Bai called herself. Shanti Bai before people of this society but to her personal friends she saw still Shamita who wore desinger dress. But today she managed to destroy it thanks to Tina. She didn't understand why did this overweight girl tried to fit in this. She was so upset. Then she sensed that worst thing was going to happen. Tina was going to faint on her carpet while taking showpiece with her. Shanti Bai ran to hold her. She knew that it was too late for her dress but she wanted to save showpiece so she ran to help. She managed to take Tina out of dress. Tina was looking strange. Her face was red and pale. Tina seemed to be spending her whole time in her house. She was pale without exercise she was fat. Shanti Bai didn't like both things. Tina was shivering. Tina was now in just her petticoat. Tina needed another dress. Tina was so scared. Tina didn't understand what she supposed to do. Tina didn't want to stand before Shanti Bai this way. Tina felt as if she was naked. Then Shanti Bai pushed one dress towards her. She said " Wear it." Tina nodded. Tina wore it and ran towards her house. Tina didn't thought what would Shanti Bai say. She didn't thought about her Doctor's appointment. She just ran away as fast as she could. She didn't even stopped to catch Taxi or auto. She kept running and running. She already lost control of her mind. She was so upset. She fall on ground in her mother-in-law's bedroom in petticoat. It was worst. She kept crying. She didn't sense that people were watching her. She didn't sense anything. She kept running. Finally she observed that luckily her feet took her back to her house. She was so glad. She went in her flat. She didn't care about anything. She was full of dirt still she slept on bed without cleaning. She was not concerned. She kept crying and crying. She fully lost sense of time. She didn't even went to bathroom to change. She didn't cook. She didn't eat. She was crying in room until finally door bell didn't rang. She shivered. She understood that it was maid. She didn't want to show her face to her. She kept crying in corner. She didn't open door. After ringing for sometime maid finally went away. She kept crying without stopping. She didn't care. She began to think that she might just hang herself so that she could stop humiliation from coming. She shivered. She started finding suitable thing to do it. On that point she began to hear voice of watchman. Clearly maid had not gone away. She came back with watchman. Then she remembered that how did she fall asleep last time. So maid must had assumed same thing this time. Maid didn't want to miss work today since it was her salary day so she was trying hard to come in. She took deep breath and opened door. Maid screamed loudly after watching her. Soon she sensed that her feet were full of blood and due to her walking entire house was full of blood. She gave sad smile and said " I had small accident while walking on road." Maid said " This is not small." Watchman nodded. Immediately Doctor was called. Maid helped her with cleaning up. She shivered feeling sad. Her life was going wrong way.
Raja was informed by watchman as soon as he entered in Society. He ran to his flat. He went to Tina and asked her " Are you alright?" She gave sad smile & pushed card given to her by Doctor. She said " He said this was Anxiety attack and it might continue if I don't took treatment. I am bad luck for you." She started crying. Raja hugged her & said " Who told you that?" " No one. But I felt that way." " Don't talk rubbish. It's due to Mom. She is like that only." Tina " It was not her mistake. I destroyed her dress but she said nothing." Raja started laughing after hearing that story. She was so angry. She began to abuse him. She locked herself in toilet for hours. Finally in midnight she came out. Raja was sitting outside on floor. He pointed towards card and said " I took appointment.." next day they went to psychiatrist. Tina told everything to psychiatrist. Psychiatrist " You are suffering due to inferiority complex which lead to depression & that anxiety. You are lucky that you didn't do anything harsh." Then Psychiatrist turned to Raja " You did right thing by bringing her here immediately. She could have taken some harsh step like suicide. But now I will handle it.." psychiatrist slowly taught her to how cope with such people who were different than her. At beginning it was hard but slowly she understood. After few years she was mother of two. Her mother-in-law Shanti Bai still hated her. But Tina managed to accept it. Tina didn't accept affection from her. They lived like people on two mountains. They just came together for Raja & pretended that they were happy in each other's company. It was perfect. Shanti Bai didn't show much affection to her grandchildren too. Since they were kids of Tina. At beginning it was hard for Tina but then she accepted & taught kids to accept it too. Luckily cousins were friendly so all seemed like perfect. Tina kept ignoring that treatment. Since she knew that protest didn't help finally Shanti Bai gave Tina's children & Tina that right in financial wealth equally so no one noticed this difference. Tina felt sad but she learnt to cope & went ahead with her life happily while ignoring what was missing from it since she didn't have option. She couldn't change thinking Shanti Bai's wrong thinking until Shanti Bai didn't decide. So she ignored it. She sensed that it was not her mistake & she couldn't correct other person's mistake. Psychiatrist taught her to handle taunts so she answered them in suitable way & went ahead with her life.
