Adventure story. 459. Searching for rich son-in-law

                               Searching for rich son-in-law

Dipti was so happy. Her appointment letter was in her hand. She was reading it again and again. Something impossible was going to become possible. She was dreaming it for so many days. She knew that getting job was not easy task. She saw her many friends still waiting for one. She never hoped to get one. She was so happy when she got her first job and she couldn’t believe it was something truly useless. She ran out. She went in kitchen. She saw her Mom was cooking something tasty. Her Mom Tanuja was wonderful cook. She never saw Tanuja cooking something worst. Tanuja always managed to cook something great. Many times she felt that Tanuja could have become cook of some five star hotel. But when she suggested this to her. Tanuja felt insulted. Tanuja looked at her with anger. “ I am not cook. I am not servant. I just cook for my family. I feel that I will not cook for other people. I am doing it for you since you are our daughter. I can’t imagine serving people and bowing before them.” Dipti was shocked. Dipti always felt that cooking in hotel was prestigious job. After all they cooked and earned too. Her friend’s father was cook. Every one admired him. She never thought that it could be something less. She felt job was something great unique. She needed to get some work like that. But Tanuja was totally against it. Tanuja considered working for someone was low for woman. She felt that it was slavery. She knew that many old fashioned thinker were existed in world and she felt that her Mom was one of them. She knew her Dad Chetan would surely understand. After all he was always modern and Chetan loved it when Dipti did something new. While Tanuja criticised her modern dress, Chetan always admired them. Dipti always felt that her father understood her. Dipti always kept high hopes from Chetan. She knew that he would understand. She knew that he would surely encourage her to take job. She just wanted to her Mom Tanuja to change. Tanuja kept her same attitude which was harmful for Dipti. She wanted her to change but she knew that her Dad didn’t think that way. So she went in kitchen to show her appointment letter then she began to feel confused. She started to feel restless. She was not sure Tanuja would agree. She felt that she should spoke to her in presence of her Dad Chetan. She began to turn back when Tanuja asked with irritation “ What happened? From morning I am feeling so sick. I don’t understand what was reason. I mean I didn’t ate anything wrong yesterday?” Tanuja always kept complaining about her health which was routine for Dipti. In fact Dipti liked it. She felt relaxed when she discussed about her sickness too. Dipti “ Mom now a days due to pollution nothing is moving in right way. We need clean air if we want to be healthy.” Tanuja nodded with sad face. Tanuja always wanted someone who would agree regarding sickness. Dipti never understood why did she wanted that emotional support. People get sick and this was common thing. She didn’t see anything bad in it. Dipti “ Mom why did you need to feel so much health conscious? People keep getting sick time to time.” “ Being healthy is very important. You need to sense it. You can’t work if you are not healthy.” “ But Mom you are inside home so you can easily go to Doctor if you feel sick and unhealthy.” “ And who will cook food for your Dad?” “ Dad will surely not complaint if you don’t able to cook one day.” “ Do you feeling your Dad is such nice person?!! He will adjust?..honey you are living in dreamworld.” “ Mom Dad will surely cooperate?” “ He never did.” “ What?” Dipti was so shocked. They never brought much outside food and she thought that Tanuja didn’t want it but that was not true. “ Mom are you telling that if you fall sick Dad complaint?” Tanuja looked confused. It seemed as if Tanuja didn’t want to answer. Then Tanuja said with smile. “ Not your father. He was nice man with wonderful attitude. But his parents!” Dipti smiled so in-laws were trouble. She heard this many times. They were old fashioned so kept irritating. Dipti knew that whenever she get married then she needed to adjust regarding her in-laws. But she knew that she might get nice in-laws too. She smiled with hope then she suddenly remembered her appointment letter. She slowly opened it and began to show it to Tanuja. Tanuja looked towards her with confused expression. Tanuja “ What is it?” “ I found job!” She was expecting some negative reaction from Tanuja but she smiled. Tanuja patted on her cheek and said “ Lucky girl!! No body get job now a days but you got one!” Dipti was so happy. Her road was clear. She was sure now that now she could do a job. She was waiting for it for such a long time. She was happy to finally get one. Dipti knew her friends were going to wait for it forever. But she got it. She went in room and began to get ready for job. When in night Chetan came, she told him about job. Chetan smiled and he seemed happy too. Dipti was happy that everyone was ready to let her do job. Her younger sister Rucha was excited too. Rucha “ Wow. If Didi can do job then I will do too?” “ Yes yes you must.” Chetan said happily. Next day Dipti went for job. Her Mom did all traditional things for good luck which she use to do before her examination. Dipti was so pleased. No one objected her job and she was doing it happily. Everything seemed perfect. She was doing all kind of work. It was helping her a lot. She was doing all kind of work in her office. Her Boss was so happy with her. She never say no to anything. One day their receptionist became sick. She even sat on her chair and did her job. It was interesting. She never thought that receptionist job could taught her so many things. She was so happy and excited. She kept doing her job. It was perfect life. No one was objecting anything. They were permitted her to do job. She was working hard and getting admiration. Her life was perfect. She knew few people were taunting her job as something low but she never felt that way. She loved it. She was so happy that her parents were supporting it. Life was excellent.

    One day Dipti came home after long day in office. She sat on sofa and started calling Mom. Chetan was sitting beside her. He suddenly gave her angry look. She sensed that he felt that she needed to take wash herself and change dress first. She didn’t say anything. She just went in bathroom. She knew that it was her mistake but she felt that something was different with Chetan. Normally Chetan didn’t interfere in her life this way. Chetan might support her few times but he never objected this way. She didn’t like this. She began to feel strange shiver inside her. She never felt this way. She went in washroom and cleaned herself. She began to watch her face in mirror. It was looking great. She was trying hard to control herself. She wanted to look great. She knew that nothing had happened. Chetan didn’t said anything but his eyes managed to scare her. She didn’t understand why. She tried to control her fear. This was happening to her for first time. She was shivering with fear and she was feeling sick in stomach. She began to feel as if she was sick with flu. She began to check herself for temperature. But she didn’t feel that she had fever. Then she was so confused why did she felt this way. Then Tanuja started knocking on washroom. Tanuja was standing outside but she was tense too. Dipti could sense it in her voice. Tanuja “ Do you want something to eat or drink?” She was feeling so sick that she wanted nothing. She began to cry. She didn’t understand why. She didn’t understand why Chetan’s eyes had so much impact on her. She wanted to feel relaxed but she felt like crying. It seemed as if someone died few days ago and she was feeling those pains. She was so upset. She knew that nothing happened. She controlled herself and smiled. She opened washroom door and smiled. “ What happened Mom?" Tanuja returned her smile immediately. Tanuja " I came to ask you do you want something special?" On that point Chetan started screaming Tanuja's name. Dipti was so upset. She wanted to talk with her Mom. She wanted to relax. But she didn't. Since Chetan called her for some work. She didn't understand why did Chetan needed to keep calling Tanuja for his work. He needed her on every moment. It was frustrating and shocking. He didn't understand she needed Tanuja. Then Dipti started to relax. She told herself that she was just fine. She went out with smile. Rucha was sitting with Chetan. Rucha was clearly enjoying company of Chetan. This was something different. She knew very well that few days ago Rucha was arguing with Chetan. Rucha was her younger sister but not much younger than her. There was just two years difference in them. At this moment Rucha was waiting for results of her final examination. Chetan was discussing marriage with her. Rucha " But I thought Dipti suppose to marry first?" " Rucha!! Dipti is not that much good looking! Boys don't like her as they like you." Rucha was shocked and confused. Rucha didn't want to talk against Dipti but she was happy since she got admired. Rucha didn't understand how did she supposed to react to this. She didn't want to criticize Dipti but she loved getting admired. Chetan"Dipti is fair in complexion no doubt but she is so fat. And look at you." Rucha was so happy. " You are perfect. Slime and fair!!" Rucha " But I am not as fair as she is!" " Who told you this nonsense? You are fair! In fact your complexion is getting lighter daily. You are becoming more and more fair." Rucha was on top of the world. Dipti never understood Rucha's obsession with fair complexion. Dipti didn't understand why girl needed to be fair. Dipti was fair but she got nothing. Rucha didn't understand it. Dipti had many friends with dark complexion who were happily settled in abroad or in India while Dipti was still struggling with her life. Dipti knew her complexion didn't help. She was confused now. Suddenly she began to sense that she was fat. She never thought about her figure that way. She accepted it as it was. But on that day she began to touch her body and began to judge her fat. She started to sense that she was ugly. She needed to work hard to make herself slim She once again ran in washroom. She looked in mirror. Then she sensed that in this mirror she could only see her face. It was not enough. She needed to see her body too. It was so upsetting. She began to watch her face. She could see fat on her face. She began to sense that she was not as pretty as she use to be. It was so upsetting. She started  crying. She wanted to control herself. She didn't want to feel sad. She was feeling so upset. She knew soon Tanuja would come. When Tanuja appeared, she suddenly managed to control her feelings. She was so happy at her success. She smiled and said " Mom I am getting ready." " For dinner?" " Yes? I thought you are planning candle light dinner for your beloved daughter." Then they laughed. She was so happy. She was pretending in perfect way. She managed to fool many Tanuja. Then she sat on dinner table. Luckily Chetan and Rucha were eating there dinner before TV set in hall. So she decided to eat in kitchen only. She could chat with Tanuja. For first time she sensed that something was wrong with Chetan. Chetan, her Dad was not as nice as he pretended. Few days ago Rucha and Chetan were abusing each other but now they were suddenly best friends. It was confusing and shocking. She didn't understand it. She still remembered their argument before one day but now every thing was vanished. She didn't want to be in bad books of Chetan. But she didn't understand how could she become his perfect daughter. She didn't want to win her Dad. She didn't need it. But she didn't want him to start targeting her. She didn't want to object his affection for Rucha. If he loved her more that was perfect but she didn't want to be targeted for it. She didn't understand how could she manage to get over abuse. She was so scared but she was happy that he was busy with her. He was not abusing her. She enjoyed her dinner with Mom in kitchen.

       Chetan was planning for long time. He needed to show his daughter as suitable daughters-in-law to his rich client. He knew that Dipti was his elder daughter so he supposed to married her off first. But her age didn't suit that boy. She was elder than him. Chetan knew that finding boy for Dipti on such short notice was impossible so he needed to do one thing. It was to convince Dipti that she couldn't get husband so she should give chance to her younger sister. He needed to convince her that she was ugly. He knew that it was ruthless but he needed to do it. He needed to tell her that she didn't find husband so quickly. If he kept searching for her he would surely lose this chance. Chetan didn't have much interest in her from beginning since Dipti didn't have big ambitions. Dipti wanted jobs like cook or receiptionist. He didn't like those lower type of jobs. He made it clear to Tanuja from beginning and Tanuja was nice wife. She never argued against his view. But Dipti kept arguing. He never showed it on face that he didn't like it. He just kept pretending. But behind her back he always made sure that she wouldn't get any such opportunity. But when Dipti grew up, she suddenly came with appointment letter. He hated it. He didn't want her to do that job. But he knew that Tanuja would object since Tanuja already began to sense that financial independence of her daughter was important. Rucha was not that much strong willed. Chetan knew that he could manage to convince her in first try. Rucha was ambitious girl like him. She didn't keep discussing about values and morals. Dipti was always talking about morals. Her independent views managed to irritate him from time to time. It was so upsetting. He was very sure that she was not useful in catching some wealthy son-in-law. Dipti would demand things like love and kind nature. He didn't want to find boy with kind heart etc. He wanted someone who was practical like him. It was not easy to find it for him. He was so upset. He didn't understand what he supposed to do with his daughter Dipti. He just didn't want to handle her. He wanted someone who knew how to seduce rich boys. When Dipti sat in kitchen, he could hear her chatting with Tanuja. Many times he felt that Tanuja was wrong influence for her. Tanuja didn't encourage her for job or money grabbing tactics. He kept she learnt all those morals just due to her. But on that point he just concentrated on Rucha. He needed to make her useful. He began to teach her how did she needed to just concentrate on money. Luckily she was practical. She began to agree with him and he did entire planning. He was doing this all. When Dipti was feeling upset that he might start to target her soon. She was so scared. She didn't understand what was her way out of this. She kept chatting to Tanuja since she wanted to appear normal. Next day in morning she came in kitchen for breakfast. Tanuja was cooking omelette for her. She always ate omelette of two eggs in morning. Tanuja cooked it in butter. She loved it's taste. It was totally normal. But then on that morning Chetan came from his walk. He looked towards omelette and said " Well it's smell is so wonderful." Tanuja smiled. Tanuja was happy that her cooking was getting admired. She wanted that admiration from Chetan. Tanuja asked excitedly " Do you want one?" " Are you out of your mind? Look at calorie it have!!" He looked pointedly towards Dipti. Tanuja put omelette in Dipti's plate. Dipti wanted to be strong but she was no longer feeling that way. She was feeling so weak and scared. She could sense tear drops were appearing on her eyelashes. She wanted to stop them since she knew that Chetan was watching her with smile. She knew that he wanted to see her tears. She felt so sad. She didn't want to show it to him. She didn't understand why he was so upset with her. From childhood she always saw his positive side. He was so sweet. He always kept admiring her. But she sensed today that he was going to face his worst side which was again and again mentioned by Tanuja. She shivered. She didn't understand what was her mistake. She asked suddenly without second thought " What happened Dad? Are you angry with me?" Chetan looked at her with anger and said " Yes I am since you are so fat and so useless. I don't think I will find ever any boy for you." Dipti started crying. She truly wanted to marry a nice and kind boy. She wanted rich one too if possible since she didn't want to take any help from her parents. She wanted her independence. But when Chetan started to say she couldn't find husband her dreams were shattered. Tanuja couldn't able to tolerate it. Tanuja screamed on him " What's wrong with you? Why does you want to harass her?" " Because I found one rich boy for Rucha and she is willing to get married with him but Dipti is becoming obstacle." Dipti was so shocked. She didn't want to become burden or obstacle but sadly Chetan felt that she was. Dipti " But I never objected Rucha's marriage before me! That is not uncommon thing." Tanuja was shocked. Tanuja wanted Rucha to marry nice boy too. But Chetan was harassing Dipti for it. She could have easily convinced Dipti but Chetan didn't want that easy convincing. He wanted to harass her. Tanuja didn't understand why but she knew one thing that it was wrong and she was very upset about it. She felt so sad. Tanuja " You can go ahead with that proposal for Rucha. No one asked you to stop. I will take care of Dipti." Chetan " Really!! Do you have brain to do it?" Tanuja started to look red with anger. Dipti said slowly " Actually I don't want to get married!!" Chetan was happy. He wanted same thing to happen and it was finally happening. He wanted Dipti out of his way and she was going out. He smiled happily.

     Dipti was stressed at beginning then slowly she began to enjoy entire thing. She began to get relaxed. It was nice to see Rucha so happy. Rucha was getting what she wanted in life. Dipti was truly happy for her since she didn't like that proposal at all. She couldn't imagine to marry man like that. She was happy that Rucha got her choice. But then suddenly she sensed that everything was not fine. She was helping Rucha to choose dress when suddenly her Auntie entered. Auntie "Dipti I think you should be looking at catering arrangments. I will manage her dressing." She was confused. Then Rucha gave her irritated look. Dipti sensed that Rucha wanted her out of picture. She slowly vanished from background. She went in kitchen. She pretended looking around. Then she slowly returned back to her room. She didn't want to cry but she wanted to. She did all as they told but still they kept abusing and insulting her. Then Tanuja came. Tanuja told her " Why don't you go to movie?" " Alone?" Dipti said this but then she immediately agreed. She took money and went away. She booked movie ticket. She went to movie. She didn't hoped that it would be so interesting. She was so happy. She totally forgot her all troubles. She enjoyed it. She drank cold drink ate snacks. Suddenly entire day became wonderful for her. Finally she returned home. She was expecting that everyone was planning for marriage. But soon she saw Rucha was crying. Chetan was so upset and angry. She didn't say anything. She just ran towards bedroom. She kept hearing sound of crying. Then she suddenly heard abuses of Chetan. She was confused. She wanted to know what happened. Then Tanuja came to her room and told her " Rucha was rejected by that boy." Dipti was so confused. She needed to feel sad but she was happy since it was nice revenge on Rucha. But she didn't want to become part of this revenge dance. She just kept sitting in her room. Then she came out after sometime but Chetan began to look towards her with anger. Chetan screamed " Let her to stay in room. I don't want her to be seen wandering in this house. She is evil to this house." Dipti was shocked. She never heard bigger nonsense. She didn't dare to say much. She went in her room. After that Dipti started staying inside room. Chetan didn't want her to come out. Tanuja didn't like it. Tanuja began to argue. On one point Rucha was creating big drama. Rucha was screaming and throwing things. On other point Chetan was targeting Dipti without cause. Tanuja tried her best to handle but Rucha and Chetan were clearly grouping against her. They were trying to lock Dipti in her room. Tanuja didn't understand why.  He planned something which went wrong and it kept worst impact on him. He kept blaming all on Dipti. He knew that it would be worst for Dipti. Then one day he brought worst proposal for Dipti. Dipit was shocked. She didn't want to marry but he started abusing her. Tanuja was watching whole drama. Chetan suddenly began to hit Dipti. Tanuja tried to protect her. But Rucha joined Chetan. Tanuja started to sense that she couldn't control situation. She began to call for help. But soon she sensed that it wouldn't help much. She couldn't be heard from 7 floor in building full of AC houses. She knew that she needed to go down. She ran towards door. When Rucha came and hit her head with flower vase. Tanuja lost her senses and fainted. When Tanuja was awake, she found that she was in hospital. She immediately started asking about Dipti. Doctor called someone. Soon Dipti came with her injured face. Tanuja kept watching her. Then suddenly Cop appeared and asked " Who did this to you?" Tanuja said clearly " My younger daughter. My husband told her." For first time Tanuja spoke against Chetan. She was watching her injured daughter and she wanted culprits behind bar. She closed her eyes due to pain but she had one determination in her mind that she would fight back. She didn't let anyone destroy her daughter's life. Suddenly only Dipiti became her daughter. She forgot all other things. She opened her eyes again. She began to tell Cop how did they attacked. Cops wrote everything. Tanuja " I just want one thing with surety that my husband didn't attack my daughter." Cops " They go to some relative." Tanuja was confused. She didn't like it. She knew that no one would help her. But she took deep breath. Then she took out diary of telephone number and started calling every one with hope that someone might offer her help. She knew that she needed to start her life once again.
