Adventure story. 338. The old house

                                                                The  old house
Priya was not that much excited about going in her hometown but her mother insisted. She didn't want to break her heart. After all that old village was just irritating otherwise it was okay. Priya was so used to her busy life that she didn't like that quiet and peaceful life where people started their day early and end it soon. She just couldn't able to sleep so soon. But she get so bored in nights. But it was not enough excuse to hurt her mother. She could have dragged her entire family in this. But she didn't want to increase Jay's miseries. He was already having lots of trouble in office. If he needed to take leave, he preferred if it should be for pleasure not for some duty. She told him to stay there. She wanted to use his vacation for wonderful holidays. She decided that she had to go alone. Her son Rohit & her daughter Pinki decided to come with her. In fact they were not forced too. They couldn't able to say no to their grand mother. It was hard for them. Rohit hoped for internet but soon as they came near it. He sensed that village didn't have signal for internet. He screamed on Priya " Mom internet is not coming here!!" " So?" " So!!? What I suppose to do during all these days!?" Grandma " I know many things you can do without internet. After I never used internet." Rohit looked at Grandma with anger. She knew that she lied about many things. But then he sensed that he could hold such anger on that old fragile lady. After all it was his duty to think with logic. He sat on car seat once again. He asked driver " Do we ever get internet in this place?" Driver " Of course." His mobile had internet. He screamed " How?" Driver smiled. " I searched place in car where I can get it. In village you need to search location where you can get internet." Rohit smiled and placed himself in such a way that he could get internet. All started laughing. Grandma " Thank God I don't need internet every day. I don't need to stand that way." Rohit looked at her with anger. But he soon sensed that he couldn't keep getting upset on entire vacation. Many times he wished that he should have just stayed with his father. He didn't like this vacation at all. He looked around. Nature was fresh but nature was not enough for him. He needed technology too. He wanted mobile and TV. He hated those farms that dust. But Pinki started jumping with joy. Pinki " Mom I love it." She started admiring every thing. " Mom I wish we can stay here always. Priya started laughing. Rohit " And how did Dad going to feed us?" " He can do farming with cows." Priya and Grandma started laughing. Rohit was so angry. Rohit " Educated people don't do farming with cows." Grandma " Who told you that? All people from village are not illiterate. Many people are educated too. You kids from town don't understand." Priya could easily see anger in her mother's eyes. Her Mom was proud of farms. Priya didn't want argument. " Mom he is just kid." Pinki " Mom I will marry farmer.." Rohit started laughing. Now Priya was angry. " If you don't value farming then don't joke on it. If I heard any wrong comment regarding farming from you. I will take away your mobile." Rohit looked so scared as if Priya signed his death warrant. He just turned ahead and started to looking in mobile. He finally got internet and he didn't want to miss it. He became busy on mobile. Then Priya started telling Pinki stories of her childhood. There were many stories of her childhood until now Rohit never showed any interest in them. But Pinki seemed so interested that she began to feel thrilled. She started to sense that her vacation and stay could become better if she started telling stories to Pinki. She just needed to ignore Rohit. She sensed that her vacation could become interesting if Pinki kept showing interest in stories. She began to tell her many stories. Then suddenly her mother whispered to her. Grandma" Tell her that story of Doll house." Priya started laughing. Priya " I don't want to scare her." " What Doll house?" " We got an old house in our house. We use to play with it when we were kids." Pinki jumped with joy. " Mom I want one. Please" " Honey it is too old and rusty." Rohit " Come on Mom you can repair it for her. It is not as costly as Doll house in shops." After hearing this encouragement from Rohit Pinki got excited. " Mom I want it..Mom I want it." Priya was confused. Grandma" Let's go and see it first then we will decide." Pinki nodded with smile since she sensed yes in it. Rohit was laughing since he got his revenge. Now Priya needed to do lots of repair for that Doll house. If he was not going to get internet then his Mom Priya who dragged him in this mess without warning should deserve this lesson too. Priya looked  at Rohit with anger. She understood Rohit's every move. She gave smile to Pinki " Don't worry I will do something about it." She decided that Rohit was going to be pain in neck on entire trip. She wished that her Mom had not insist on bringing him. He was lot better off with his Dad. But now she couldn't change situation so she decided that she had to cope up with this situation. After all she didn't want to increase troubles for Jay so she smiled and started telling stories to Pinki.
    After long journey finally Priya reached to her house. She started looking at it's wall. She sensed that she must  need to do lot of work. She felt that she did big mistake by not returning to her property. It was in horrible condition. She kept looking at it while calculating how much amount needed to repair house. She didn't sense that she stopped for long time. Pinki " What happened Mom? Why you are looking at house like that?" Rohit " Since it is disgusting." Rohit went in house while making faces. Priya saw pains on her mother's face. Priya wanted to scream on Rohit but then she sensed that it was useless. She turned to her Mom. " Don't worry Mom. I will make it right again." Grandma " I know honey but you will need lot of money and time for it." Priya smiled " I will invest both. I have arranged all by Jay's suggestions.  As they went near house their housekeeper came out. Rohit " Raghu Kaka you are looking young than this ghost house you need new job." Raghu Kaka started laughing. Priya was so angry why Rohit had to keep taunting that house. But Pinki came in defence " This house is old but beautiful. We all get old one day." Rohit " Really we need to learn philosophy from baby like you about life." Grandma " It's better since otherwise you receive slap by these old hands. I have heard enough of your nonsense. You don't need to stay here. Tomorrow we are going to send truck of some stuff in city you can go with them." Priya " No Mom no need to do that I don't want to burden Jay." Grandma " But you can't keep him. He will destroy our peace." Rohit " I want to go." " Okay I will talk to Jay." Grandma " It's not needed. I have already done that. In fact Jay himself told me to send him back. Jay didn't want disturbance for you." Rohit looked upset. He was clearly treated like burden. He didn't like that he went inside house. He was so angry. He just wished from heart only if he had stayed in city. He went inside. He started to look at rooms. All were full of dusts. He started to feel they were wasting big property. They could create something profitable by this land. He knew that this house was useless. Priya and Grandma would never break that house. In his eyes they were acting like sentimental fools. He knew that this house didn't hold any soul the way they were telling. Now they were feeding wrong thoughts inside head of Pinki. He didn't understand why they were increasing his problems. In future he wanted to sell that property. But if Pinki began to love it then it would be bigger problem for him. He looked at that old house. It was just ghost house. Then he heard Pinki talking from behind." Mom you are going to repair it?" Rohit was so angry and shocked. He began to think how much money would be wasted on it. His future was dependent on that money. His parents didn't care about him. They were just thinking about his Grandma who hardly had any life left in her. He needed that money. He screamed " Mom you can't waste money like that?" Raghu Kaka was standing behind. He looked at him with anger. He was servant so he forced to keep quiet. But Rohit could easily sense abuses he wanted to make. Rohit felt more hurt now. Even servant was looking at him with anger. He was big now. He deserved respect like his father. He began to feel hurt from heart. " I need money for college." " But you need to take of this house too." " It was important once upon a time. But now this is useless house. " Then Priya screamed on him " Enough. You are not grown up to decide financial matters. Your parents will decide. You can decide when you grow up." Rohit gave bitter smile and said " Only if some money remained for us." Priya was so angry. She started to screaming from behind but Rohit went in his room and closed door with loud sound. Priya " Sorry Raghu Kaka he is just immature boy. He didn't understand value of things." Raghu Kaka nodded. But his face was so pale. He began to feel fear for his future. This house was everything to him. If it was sold, he didn't know where he would go. He was so tense about every thing. He needed to find options now. Grandma " Don't worry. This house is on my name I will not let him have it." " But this is your inheritance. You can't stop him from having it." " Priya, Pinki, have right on it too. He couldn't sell it." Pinki screamed " I love this house. I will not sell it." Raghu Kaka smiled. " Thanks honey but now you must go to your room." She smiled happily and Raghu Kaka showed her room. Raghu Kaka " May be I should bring dinner for you in room?" Priya " No. My son is already spoiled child. I don't want to spoil him more. If he wanted food. He must come down and ask  you for it. You are not going up for him." Raghu Kaka nodded. Priya " Mom you have phone for calling Raghu Kaka?" Grandma nodded. Then they all settled in their room. Raghu Kaka came in Grandma's room. By his attitude Grandma sensed that he wanted to tell something. Grandma " What happened?" " I wanted to search for part time job." " Why suddenly? because of Rohit he is just kid." " No. One day he will own this. He is not like Priya. Priya don't like to stay here but she like property. She never wanted to make money out of it. But he want it. I don't want to argue owner or fight with him. I work honestly for so many years now I don't want to destroy that relationship. If they want to sell, I want to just vanish with peace." Grandma could see tears in his eyes. " You can do that job. But no one sell this house. But little extra money can be useful for you." Raghu Kaka nodded and went away.
      Rohit sat in his room. He started to look around. He always hated sitting alone in room. But he couldn't adjust with his Mom. She had strange obsession about this house. Even his Dad supported it. He was only one who wanted to save money. They didn't understand this investment was going to be useless in future. Then he heard voices. He looked out of window. Mom was giving instructions to worker. He sensed that it was going to be long day. He didn't want to remain stuck there. He was glad that Grandma planned to send him back. His Grandma was nice lady but when it came to this house she lost her logic. He didn't understand why did they like it. He just hated it. He wanted them to understand their situation. Then he suddenly heard sound. Pinki was knocking his door. He had taught her this. He didn't want to  be distrub again and again. He smiled. " What happened?" " I found that Doll house" " Really?" Pinki smiled. " Are you coming?" " Yes" Rohit decided that he would need some work to pass time and it was perfect. He went in Pinki's room. It was old doll house which had damaged and destroyed wallpaper. He decided that he needed to do some interior for it. " Go and bring a knife." " Knife?" " Come on. You big enough to bring knife." Pinki was confused. She didn't want to get in trouble by doing something which was not permitted. " Go and tell Raghu Kaka to bring it." She smiled and nodded. She was totally coward girl. She never disobeyed Mom or Dad. He was so frustrated. He started  pulling wallpapers from doll house. It was so strange. When he started to pull those wallpapers, he began to hear a song. He was confused. He looked around. He stood up and started searching for source of voice. It was nice sweet voice of some man. Then he thought of Raghu Kaka. He smiled. He understood source of voice. Raghu Kaka must be good singer. He wanted to go and admire Raghu Kaka. But then he decided that he must not distrub that song. He returned to wallpaper again. He started removing them. It became magical rhythm for him. He didn't stop until Pinki screamed. Priya was so scared. She came running without giving second thought to anything. Rohit was so upset and scared. " What happened?" " Your hands? They are full of blood." Rohit looked at his hands. By that time not just Priya but entire house gathered there. Priya " My god!!why did you use hand for scratching that wallpaper? You must have cut yourself. You need to take anti tetanus now." " It happened because this girl was not ready to bring knife." " No Mom I went to Raghu Kaka. He supposed to bring it. But he started before it and now he is blaming me." Pinki was so angry. It was not her mistake. Priya " Stop blaming her. She is small and how could she supposed to find knife on her own?" Rohit nodded. " Sorry I am so upset. My hand is paining." He looked at his hand. That wound was looking worst. He started to regret his decision to help Pinki with that Doll house. " I will never touch Doll house. It is worst." Grandma " You should not have touched that house it supposed to be done by professional." Rohit felt so hurt. He went out of his room in anger. He was so frustrated. Grandma was so angry now. She screamed loudly " What's wrong with this boy!  He was totally normal in other places. But in this house he became so arrogant as if some evil soul entered in him." Priya " Mom relax I am calling our doctor. Rohit sit in chair don't wander with that hand." Rohit screamed " Don't worry I will not damage your flooring." Then he went in his room and closed eyes. He began to hear that song again. He was so angry. How could Raghu Kaka sing songs in this situation. It was frustrating. He screamed " Raghu Kaka will you singing. For God sake stop it. My head is spinning." He soon sensed that his legs were becoming weak. They could no longer able to carry weight of his body. He wanted to stand but soon every thing around him went black. He was no longer in control of body. Raghu Kaka was in kitchen when he heard Rohit's scream about not singing. He was so confused. No one was singing. He didn't understand why Rohit was screaming like that. He decided that he must go upstairs and ask Rohit what was the issue after all no one was singing. House was totally quiet. When he reached to door, Priya was already knocking it from outside. She was telling Rohit to open door. Slowly whole family came there. Grandma " What is wrong with Rohit? Why he locked himself? And am I getting deaf since I don't hear any song?" Priya" No one was singing. Raghu Kaka will you able to open door? Do you have key?" Raghu Kaka nodded. They were so lucky that last summer they changed all locks in modern one to avoid crisis. Raghu Kaka went down and brought key. They opened door. Rohit was fallen on floor. Priya was so scared. She tried to wake him up. Slowly he came to his senses. Then they told him to sleep on bed. They all started waiting for Doctor. It was so frustrating. Until now Priya never felt scared in this house, but with sick son and while having Doctor so far away that house managed to scare her. She just wanted to return to town now. But she knew that it was impossible. She had already paid advance and started work of that house. She was so scared now. She didn't know anything about this town. She never inquired even if a hospital was available here. Grandma sensed her fear. Grandma " Don't worry we have good Doctor? If anything is serious, he would handle it." Priya looked at her. She said " Coming here was big mistake" and started crying. Pinki was shocked. She loved that house. It was not mistake of house that Rohit was sick. Pinki " Mom don't blame house. It is nice." Rohit " Wow my sister love house more than me. She is truly loving sister." Grandma was shocked. Rohit was spreading poison against house. It was strange. Grandma " Don't worry. I will arrange ambulance. It can take you back to city. Pinki can stay with me. We will manage to work here." Priya was shocked. She never thought that way. " I can't put all on you." Raghu Kaka " I will help them. Trust me. I have done everything in fine way after your father's death." Priya knew that she could trust him. She nodded and let her Mom call ambulance.
    When Doctor came with ambulance,they checked Rohit. Doctor" Why did you call me?" Grandma " Since he suddenly fainted. We feel so scared." Doctor " Fainted?" Priya " Yes. He also started hearing those songs which no one could hear." Rohit was shocked. He sensed for first time. He was hearing no existing song. It was so shocking. Rohit " What no one heard that song? Am I getting mad? Is it possible I have some tumor in my brain and it is doing all this?" Doctor " Now stop this guess work. Let's take him to hospital. Will you stood up?" Rohit nodded. He went out and sat in ambulance. But he began to hear that song again. He turned to ward boy and asked " Did you hear that song?" Word boy looked confused. Doctor pointed him to keep quiet. Ward boy " Let's go to hospital first." Rohit wanted to confirm about song. He screamed " Did you hear it? Someone tell me. Did this house manage to make me mad in one day? What revenge you want to take against me Grandma? I never harm anyone with.." Then he suddenly stopped in middle of sentence and went inside ambulance. Priya " Sorry Mom." " It's alright. He is not in his senses. He kept hearing that song. I don't understand what is issue with song. No one sang in this house for years." Priya " I don't know but I sense one thing I need to take him in hospital. Something is totally wrong with his brain just one day in house against his will can't hurt someone so much."  Grandma " Did this happened before?" " When he was child, he used to have nightmares in night. It use to cause lot of embarrassments to him. He used to avoid going to school trips. It was so problematic for us. We wanted to take him to Doctor but then his grandmother gave some holy thread to him and he stopped dreaming." " Did he wearing that holy thread now." " Yes of course. I never dare to remove it." Grandma " Then why did it started again? May we need powerful priest now." Priya nodded. On that Priya went to city. Hospital took all reports of Rohit and then they sent him back in home. Rohit was sleeping in his bedroom. He was so happy. Finally he was in home without threat. He looked at his bedroom with special affection. He wanted to sleep in it. He was so happy finally he was away from that worst house. He looked at painted walls of his room. They were so lovely. He closed his eyes and that song started again. He opened them again. It stopped. He was so scared. He began to feel fear in his heart about that song. He wanted to run away from it. He began to run out of room since he began to feel it was coming from his room. He began to feel that he must had brought something from that house with him. He began to tell in air that he would not break it. Priya came out running. She took Rohit in arms and started telling him. That she called his Dadi and Dada, they were going to bring priest. She told him entire story. Rohit " You know it all then why you take me back to that house?!!" " I never thought it was that house. I thought it happening because of place where you used to play" " Where I use to play?" " Near one cemetery. We just shifted house." Rohit " But I don't remember much." " I know. You just forgot after shifting and we were happy about it." Rohit started to shiver. His entire room was covered with every religious idol. But still he kept screaming. Soon it became clear to them that nothing was helping. Jay came back one day with medical reports. All medical reports showed that he was physically perfect. Jay " My Mom will bring priest tomorrow. But you feel it is safe to keep Pinki there?" Rohit " But Pinki is not ready to come that evil might sense we are trying to trap him if we try to remove Pinki!! It might kill one of us." They all shivered with fear. Priya " That vacation was worst idea!!" Jay " You can't guess it . We all thought it was that cemetery." Rohit "It might have come from cemetery. But it became strong in house. It must be with me whole time." Priya " Are you saying it might be here even now and listening to our plans against him?" Rohit kept quiet. They understood. Jay " But why you call it him?" " Since it is man's voice. They all started shivering. They were too scared. Finally Priya' s in- laws entered in house with priest. He started looking around. Her Mother-in-law came near her and started talking angrily " Where is Pinki? Why didn't she came down to take blessings from priest?" Priest looked at her with disapproval too. She immediately explained the situation. Her father-in-law " How could you act like mad person? Let your daughter stay there." Priest stopped him from talking further. " Magic of evil no use of cursing. It might be listening to us and laughing on us at this point." They all shivered. Rohit was scared most. During that day obeyed priest without question. They didn't thought about money. Finally it was over in evening. It was relief for all. Priest told them that every thing was safe now. They smiled. Rohit was so happy. He slept peacefully that night. He thought that it was over. But he once again woke up in night with that song. He started screaming on top of lung. Priya and Jay came running in his room. They sensed one thing. Their ritual didn't work. Then they next day called priest. After that blame game started blaming every thing on her. She started to feel sick too. One day she finally went to same hospital for check up where Rohit went. She went alone since even Jay was getting angry without cause now a days. But she couldn't blame him. He couldn't even sleep one day. Rohit kept getting hysterical every night. She just couldn't control him. So she went to hospital alone.
      As soon as Priya entered Doctor looked her with shock. Doctor"  How could you lose so much weight in such few days? But first question must come first. Where is your son? Why don't you bring him for further treatment?" Priya was confused. " But report said he is physically fit?" " Yes and hearing songs which are not existed is normally physical problem? It's mental." Priya was shocked. Priya sensed that they had not completed their son's medical treatment. Priya started stammering. She wanted to speak properly but her words started getting confused. Doctor "Relax take deep breath." He explained her exercise of relaxation too. " I just feel you might need little bit counseling too. Now tell me what happened?" She began to tell all step by step. Doctor " So Pinki is in that house and missing her school and Rohit locked in his room. I just can't believe how can you do that? Why did you felt that house is evil where you spend entire childhood?" " Don't know Doctor I just got carried away." " But you went to totally risky point. I want to talk to Jay. We must start Rohit's treatment immediately." She just nodded. She was so relieved. She finally began to find solution with help of science. Jay was happy too. He told her that he would bring Rohit immediately. She smiled happily. Then she took appointment of Psychiatrist until then she did all her tests. They called her tomorrow for remaining tests. One thing was clear to her. She needed treatment for physical troubles too. When Rohit came whole time he kept shivering like feather. When they entered, Psychiatrist talked with him in friendly way. Finally Psychiatrist asked about song. Rohit " What if ghost came here?" " But why you feel that it will come here?" " For revenge?" " Why? Did you hurt anyone?" "No..no.." "Come Rohit sing that song. How can we handle it if we don't know whose ghost is it?" Rohit took deep breath and nodded. Then he started singing. Priya screamed " My Dad use to sing that song when he use to play with Rohit." Psychiatrist " Where is he now?" He fall from stairs and died. It was tragic. But Doctor said he might had slipped due to old age. But why did my Dad hunt Rohit and hurt him? He loved him." Rohit " Because I killed him." Jay and Priya were shocked. " I was playing with my helicopter. I was running after it. Then it stuck on top of staircase. I ran towards it. I reached to that top when I saw Grandpa coming. He was going to step on my helicopter so I grabbed it. I wanted to save it from breaking. I know Grandpa might fall if I did it but still I took it. He fall down. I was scared. He was screaming for help. But I couldn't hold him. He fall down. He landed in blood but I couldn't help him. Then every one came out. But I ran inside. I killed him." Jay was shocked. But Priya said quietly " It was just accident." Rohit " You know about it?" Raghu Kaka saw it. He didn't tell anyone about it but when you started getting nightmares.
