Adventure story 300. Funeral

                                                                   Funeral
Trupti started looking around. She sensed that she must had missed that turn. She began to took look around. She didn't understand how could she missed house of her best friend. Trupti turned again and started moving back when she suddenly saw a funeral. They were taking away body. She always hated it when she saw funeral. She felt that it would bring bad luck to her. She needed to avoid it. She never liked to cross road when she saw funeral. She decided that she just stood in corner. When she started to receive call, her Boss was calling her. Boss " Where are you now? Our client is calling me again and again." " There is one funeral so I have to stop." " Ohh sorry. But just leave immediately." " Yes sir I am on my way. " She didn't explain further. She knew that her Boss never understood her fear. She was always scared of funerals. She looked her eyes and let them pass. She was holding her breathe whole time. It was horrible for her. She just needed to hold her breathe. She felt that air was poisonous. She felt it every time when she saw funeral. She felt that strange sort of air which would give different effect on life. She started to feel different impact on mind. She started to feel as if some poisonous aroma was following her. She suddenly started to feel scared. She began to feel as if some evil soul was following her. She felt as if that soul was trying to take over her body. She began to feel so strange. She was so relieved that finally that body went away. She didn't understand why did not those people took away body in ambulance. Trupti was so frustrated. She looked at her watch. She was getting late. She just decided to take taxi. She didn't want to stand in that poisonous air. She didn't know how did this fellow had died. She just kept guessing. But his body was smelling so worst. She could sense it but she was not sure that it was him or her. But she knew one thing that death didn't make much difference between them. She had sense it always. When that dead body went away with it they took away all evil feel. She smiled and started to stop Taxi. One Taxi stopped. She immediately sat in Taxi. Trupti " I just hate funerals." Driver " I feel same way. They are so depressing. I keep praying to heart that this should not happen one day in my home. I hate when some one die. Age doesn't matter. I just love all of them. I can take care of them all. I still remember my grand parents. When they alive they use to irritate me little bit with their lectures but still I like them. I can start to laughing at their comments. They were so old fashioned and full of superstitions. Like don't walk under that tree. Don't go out in those special days. I use to joke about them. But in reality their concern use to please me. It should have been great if they were in home now to shower same concern on my kids. My Dad was not like them. He just kept getting drunk. My wife just kept trying to keep my kids away from him. We don't want bad influence on them. We tried to convince him to quit it. But he never listen to any one. My Mom tried her best to compensate but they can't become replacement of my grand parents. My kids just don't got that affection." Trupti was glad that driver was chatting. She wanted to chat too. Trupti " But I heard that it bring evil on person too?" " What?  Do you mean bad luck? But I never heard that? Still it is possible. Death never considered a good thing in any culture. But then it is also not bad thing. Person's body needed to replace. I heard that we take new body and come again." Trupti started to shiver at that thought. Trupti " If this is truth then soul must be wander around dead body for some time?" " No..no I heard it immediately go to god. Only if some one was in pain then that one will wander in world." Trupti " But how can we identify a soul in pain?" " Now that is hard question. We can't guess it unless we know that person very well." Trupti " Even if we know that one we can't guess what that one is thinking at time of death. Can we? I mean even if person want mango at time of death and it's season of other fruit so it is possible soul might wander in search of it." " You are suggesting that ghost kept wandering for mango and it will hunt family?" " Why family? It can hunt mango seller. He needed mango not family." Driver started to feel scared. " Now you are scaring me. I mean a soul can hunt any one not just some one it knew." " Yes. Just think with logic." Then suddenly Driver stopped. " What happened?" " Madam we have arrived." " Ohh I am getting late." She went down from Taxi and paid Taxi driver. Then she vanished inside building. Driver was still shivering. Driver " This lady was so scary. She just manage to give nightmare in night. I don't want to talk with her again or may be I should talk in details and solve problem." Driver started shaking head and laughing to himself. " Come on. You are not kid. Get over it. She was just joking." Then he drove away his Taxi.
   Trupti felt little bit fresh when she went away from that funeral. She started to feel finally that evil went away. She started to feel fresh. She created one smiley face. Then she went inside. She was normal again. She once again convinced her client with full confidence about it. She started to act with normal way. By end of that day she already got that order. She called her Boss about her success. Every thing else that happened in morning was already forgotten by Boss. She was so happy that her Boss didn't want to know about funeral. Her Boss had one habit. He kept forgetting things regarding employee's personal problem. It was always matter of anger for other employees but for her it seemed like matter of hope. She wanted to hide her lie. So every thing went in perfect way on that day. She was so happy. After all funeral were not regular thing. She went home happily. When she went home, her kids were busy in studying. She immediately went in kitchen. She started heating food which was already cooked by her cook. She just needed to cook rice now. She was glad that she kept cook. It was so tiring to cook dinner after coming from office. That travelling was too exhausting for her and kids also had demand. They wanted to eat some thing nice and interesting. Now she would have to cook just to please their special demand. She was waiting in kitchen for that special demands. After some moment Kanti entered in kitchen. Kanti " Mom can you cook some pasta for me?" " Sure but did you finish your home work?" " No Mom I have not finished it yet." " Now that is not fair. You suppose to study properly." " Mom it was too much. I will complete it step by step. I needed to do work on every day." " But your teacher want it on tomorrow." " No. This time she had give two days to us." " Two days? This is not long time. This is limited time." Kanti " Mom I will do it. Stop irritating." " I am not irritating you. This is wrong way to speak with me. I do every thing for you still you keep giving disrespect to me. Fine I will not ask you again." Trupti turned to cook in kitchen. She knew that Kanti would feel upset by this. Kanti " Sorry Mom. I will study as you said." Then Trupti smiled immediately. Trupti " I know you will do every thing in proper way but it is my duty as Mom to keep paying attention." " Mom I can understand. " Then Kanti went out. Trupti smiled happily. She was glad that her daughter was ready to cooperate. She knew that Kanti was good in getting marks but still she needed to encourage her from time to time. She started to feel happy about it. Then next Ashish came in kitchen. Her husband never wanted any thing to eat but he loved to chat with her in kitchen. Ashish " So what did you feel about Kanti's marks?" " I feel she will get good marks." " Great." Then suddenly Ashish's mobile rang. Ashish " What?? When?? Of course I will come immediately." Then he turned to Trupti. " I need to go in village. Dad is sick." " So suddenly!! What happened? He talked with us yesterday. He looked so great." " I don't know. I will see what is wrong with him. Neighbor called and said I must come immediately." " Ohh I will pack bags and take some cash to pay in hospital if emergency came." " Don't worry. I will keep every thing. Cash and card every thing. Just take care of Kanti and yourself. I don't know for how many days I might need to stay there." Trupti " Just take care of yourself and Dad. I hope nothing will happen to him." She suddenly started shivering. She knew that her father-in-law whom she always called and treated like Dad was getting older day by day. She knew that death was unavoidable. But she didn't want to face funeral. She just hated it. She knew that she had to face it on some day. She couldn't avoid it. She knew that it was need of situation. She had to attend it. She knew that she had to discuss this with Ashish. He knew every thing. Trupti " Ashish don't let him die. I hate funerals." Ashish looked at her with anger. " Don't you care for my Dad? Your concern just seem to related to yourself." " Sorry." She started crying slowly. Ashish " Now don't worry. I will be fine. I need to just go there and help Mom to take him to hospital. Trupti relax just take deep death." Trupti nodded and started taking deep breathes. Trupti started laughing as she was taught in that laughter club. Ashish also started smiling. Since it looked totally strange then even Kanti joined them. So they all started laughing with happiness. Then finally Ashish went away with smile and hope that nothing wrong would happen in his parent's house.
   Trupti said good bye to Ashish with smile but in her heart she started to feel scared. She began to feel strange fear. She started to sense that it might be time for some evil to enter in her house. She was so scared. She began to lock doors. She called Kanti and told her that she must be careful with doors. Then she started to think. She suddenly remembered a pinch of salt would keep evil out of house. She decided that she had to spread it. She slowly took out salt and started spreading it in line around house. She decided that she must start with windows. Soon Kanti sensed that some thing was wrong. Kanti " Mom what are you doing? What is this?" " Nothing sweetheart just pinch of salt. It can't harm us, can it?" " But Mom why are you doing it?" " I just want to keep insects away." " Insects? Like what? I don't saw any insects. Did you saw one?" " Now will you stop disturbing me. I want to do it properly." " Can I help you?" Trupti looked at Kanti. She knew that if she didn't took her help Kanti might feel hurt. " Fine. Just create a line ahead of every door step and also in windows. No I will handle windows. I need to create garlic threads too." " Garlic threads?" " Yes. Actually need to just tie some garlic to a black thread and then tie them to door." " Where on door? I don't see any point where we can hang something." Trupti once again started to feel tense she began to sense that it was not going to be easy for her. She started to understand that she just couldn't manage it all in one night. Then she sensed that she was doing it all just based on few horror serials. She didn't know proper truth behind it. She started thinking then she suddenly found herself discussing this with Kanti. She wanted to avoid it but she was just too scared. " Kanti actually I was scared of evil spirits." " Evil spirits?" Kanti started laughing. Trupti decided that she might just ignore her. She started creating line of salt again. " Mom do you really feel that they are existed?" " I am throwing this salt for that purpose only. We can see footprint tomorrow." Kanti suddenly began to feel scared. Until now she thought that it was joke but now it looked as if something serious. Kanti also started to sense excitement inside it. Kanti wanted to become part of it. Kanti " Mom you are right. We need to check if evil spirit really existed, I wanted to understand it too. I will help you." Trupti smiled happily. Trupti explained her about her trouble. " Mom you need some priest. Do you remember who performed your marriage?" " Yes. I know him but he is not smart enough to handle spirit." " Mom but he could perform some holy ritual of god. We can do some pooja to keep our house clean. It might need few things but we can do shopping. " Trupti smiled. Kanti was right. If they performed pooja all evil would stay away from them. She looked at watch. It was late but not so late. She called priest. Priest gave her list of items which were required to perform that ritual. One thing was sure that there was going to be lot of smoke tomorrow in their house. Since they had to create Homa which meant that they had to burn lot of woods in it. It might be small but still when that smoke started to spread it always managed to hurt eyes and burn lungs. But she felt so good by this and they needed to cook special food too. She decided that she would invite just close relatives. She could tell them that she was doing it for her father-in-law. Actually she was doing it for his long life. She just didn't want any one to be great. She started creating list of things to be needed. She sensed one thing tomorrow was going to be exhausting. Then suddenly Kanti screamed " Mom I know a shop which had all this. Can I go now to buy it?" Trupti looked in wall clock. It was not too late. But still she didn't want to send Kanti alone so she decided that she should go with her. " I will come with you. It is time to do some shopping." Then they shopped every thing. Suddenly Trupti began to feel so positive this ritual was having wonderful effect on her. She felt so safe due to it. Then she told Kanti what did they wanted. They started searching for every thing. Then she remembered that she had to call her brother too. She couldn't sit for pooja alone. She needed a couple. A man could sit in pooja alone but a woman couldn't so she needed to call her brother and if possible she could tell her sister-in-law to come too. She was not sure about her. Since her sister-in-law was always busy with job. She called her brother who didn't agree to come due to his work. Now Trupti got so tense. She started calling many relatives. But no one seemed to became ready to sit for pooja , they all were busy in their job. Then Kanti stopped her. Kanti " Mom what are you doing? Call some one who is retired." Trupti smiled. She called her Uncle who was healthy enough to sit for pooja and he had free time to conduct it. She was so happy that finally she found a person who perform pooja for her. Then she started purchasing things. She needed to purchase every thing in perfect way. It was for her family and her home. She just wished from her heart that only if her father-in-law didn't die. She didn't want to do funeral. She kept telling herself if she did this pooja properly then every thing would be fine. She started to purchase every item with care. She needed to do it properly. She was so glad that Kanti was doing it properly too. The way Kanti was shopping. She sensed one day Kanti would become a nice wife too. She would also keep her husband and his family happy like Trupti did. Trupti smiled happily at success of her perfect upbringing.
   When Trupti finally reached to house, she was so happy. She knew that everything was going to be perfect, she was going to throw away evil from her house after ritual. She knew that this ritual would make every thing perfect. When she suddenly received call from her Uncle, she was so tense. Her Uncle supposed to performed that Homa. She prayed to god that he was perfect and healthy. She couldn't change person who supposed to perform ritual on last moment. Uncle " Those special clothes of silk which I supposed to wear are teared. I don't when it happened but you know that silk clothes no one had guarantee of them." " Then how did you sit for Homa tomorrow?" " Just relax. I can wear clothes of Ashish." Trupti started laughing with pleasure. Trupti " I was so tense. You are such nice person Uncle. I will search them. But can you manage to wear them?" " Of course. It is simple. I know how to wear it." Trupti smiled. She started thanking god. She started to make her house ready for ritual. Everything needed to be perfect. Then she suddenly remembered that she had to prepared food early tomorrow so she needed to sleep too. She decided that she should not invite many. But then she sensed that she had already invited many while searching for man who would perform this Homa. She decided that not inviting remaining people was insulting for them so she worked hard to keep everything perfect. She wanted it to be in best way. She began to do everything with her own hand. She did everything in perfect way. She started to arrange things then she told Kanti to sleep. She started sleeping. She immediately fall asleep. Then she finally woke up with alarm sound. She started cooking food. She did everything in perfect way. She was so happy. She called her Boss and told him about ritual. He agreed to give her leave of two days. She hoped to make everything perfect. Kanti also woke up. They both worked hard on that day. Trupti began to attend every one in best way. She started obeying every order of priest. Priest sat down to perform ritual. When suddenly one of her relative came running, he screamed " It is bad news. Your father-in-law is died." Priest stopped. He started praying to god for dead and immediately began to leave that house. Trupti was so shocked. Every one came near her. They started consoling her. But she was so scared. She started to sense that evil thing must had stopped her ritual. She managed to do every thing in proper way. Still she didn't managed to do any thing. She started crying. She wanted to control herself. But she couldn't stop crying. She couldn't stop that evil. She could sense that it was entering from every window. She started to run towards them. Then she sensed that some one must had stepped on salt. That line was broken. She started screaming " Who stepped on salt?" Every one started to look at her with confused expression. She ran in house. She started to take salt. She began to throw it on every corner on every way from which that evil could enter. She started to move around. She wanted every thing to be perfect now. It was strange that she was shivering now. She was taking name of god again and again, She didn't let herself stop from taking it. Kanti was crying too. Kanti was trying to tell her to calm down. But she knew that it was not situation to calm down. She needed to do everything in correct way. She started searching for things to protect herself and her house. She started throwing garlic around. Then she heard some one saying " Why did she is creating so much drama? Uncle was old person" Then other person said " Stop it. She needed a Doctor." But she didn't care about opinion of people. She just needed to protect her house. But Kanti started to try to stop her. She screamed on Kanti. But finally she sensed that Kanti was right. She needed to stop. But she was so scared. She just ran inside her room and sat in one corner while shivering like feather. Finally evil entered in her house. She needed to go to funeral. She started to shiver. Then she heard voice of Doctor who came inside and then slowly he told her to sit on bed. She did as he said. She was feeling so cold. Trupti " I am feeling cold that is sign of spirit. That evil spirit entered in house." Doctor looked at her with confused expression. Then he gave her smile. Doctor " Don't worry. I will take care of it." " No you can't. You are Doctor. I need priest." She started screaming and tell all to bring some priest. They all looked shocked. Finally she felt pain of injection. She didn't sense when Doctor gave it. But after taking it she started to feel relaxed. Suddenly world around her started to look unclear. Her eyes became too heavy so she went to sleep. Since she had no option, she had to sleep. But before going to sleep she kept telling Kanti that she must bring some priest. When she fall asleep, Kanti ran to Doctor " What happened to Mom?" " This might be due to sudden death of your grandfather." Kanti " But it was not so shocking. He was nice person. We miss him but he was old man. He was going to die one day we all know this. I just don't understand Mom." Doctor looked confused. Doctor " Let your Dad come back then I will discuss." Her Auntie " But can we take her to funeral?" Doctor " No..no don't do that. I advise you strictly against it. You can take Kanti with you and any one can stay with her. She would calm down when she woke up according to my guess. But don't talk about that death before her." Auntie nodded. Then it was decided that Trupti's sister would stay with her and Kanti would go with other relative. Kanti said bye to her sleeping Mom and went to her grandfather's funeral.
  Ashish was sitting near his Dad. He had to act strong way. He could clearly see his Mom was controlling herself. But she was not feeling well. He knew that his Mom needed help. He just hoped that Trupti would come as soon as possible. He started waiting for her. He began to feel so upset when she started to getting late. She never attended any funerals but this time he knew that she must attend it. It was his Dad. His Dad always treated Trupti like daughter. She was always special to him. His father never forgot death of his sister who died due to some fever at small age. In fact he didn't even remember her fact. His parents had never able to bring her home. She died in hospital. He went to her funeral. She was so small. He was too scared to go near her so he kept hiding behind his Aunt. His Mom and Dad kept crying entire time. Then after few days their life came to normal. He just wanted Trupti to come here. Since now his Mom wanted her to be with her since she felt Dad wanted her on funeral. He was so desperate to see her. But he was shocked when he saw Kanti alone. He ran to Kanti. " Where is your Mom?" She hugged him and started crying. He sensed that something was wrong. He screamed " What happened?" Then slowly his cousin told him every thing. He was so shocked. " Ashish I just feel she was not normal. Trust me. She needed help." " But she was normal." " She was not normal Ashish. She didn't even attended funeral of her own Dad. Do you feel it was normal?" Ashish sensed that it was wrong. " I have kept her with her sister but I feel that you should start her treatment immediately." " But I need to stop here." " I know but you can suggest her sister to begin it. After all she didn't want to stay with mad person, do you feel she wished to?" Ashish nodded. Ashish slowly went in room which was in corner He looked carefully. He was so happy when his Mom started to hug Kanti so Kanti would manage those things which Trupti supposed to do. Ashish " Doctor I called you regarding my wife Trupti." " Ohh I was waiting for your call. Your wife need immediate treatment." " But she looked fine." " Mental break down happen on any time. I just suggest immediate treatment." Ashish took number of Psychiatrist. When he called Trupti, her sister took call. " Where is Trupti?" " She is once again creating line of salt. Ashish she is becoming impossible for me." Ashish " I know Doctor suggested same thing. This is number of Doctor. Take her there." Ashish expected complaint from her sister but she agreed immediately. Now he was really worried about Trupti. Trupti was trying to keep evil out when her sister came near her. " Trupti we need to go to Doctor." " Doctor why?" " Don't you remember you are sick?" Trupti looked confused but she nodded. Trupti " But we must keep salt with us to throw on evil." " Sure. Let's go." Then they went out. When Trupti's sister started driving, she sensed that Trupti was chanting something. She wanted to ask question but then she decided that it was useless so she just ignored her. Then when she finally reached to her hospital, she took breathe of relief. But then worst moment came when they started to move towards psychiatrist's room. Trupti started screaming on her that she was not mad. But then suddenly a young man came there. Young man " Madam this is nothing but routine check for insurance why don't you come?" Trupti was confused again. But then she nodded and her sister took breath of relief again. Then they entered in room of psychiatrist. He was middle age man. He started talking sweetly with Trupti. Soon they became friendly. He started taking her to point of her problem when she told that she hated funeral. " Why?" " Since they are evil." " Why you feel that way?" "Since body smell worst." Psychiatrist looked at her sister with confused expression. " Actually Doctor when we were kids, once Trupti went to a marriage with our grandparents. Sadly that train had accident. No one got hurt from our family but Trupti saw many people burning alive. This started from that day. She began to remember those people with every dead person." " Ohh this is happening due to that trauma and effect on her mind. She developed phobia of funerals. It is not uncommon to develop strange type of Phobia. No need to worry. She would be fine step by step. Where is her family? Trupti did you fought with your husband?" Then instead of answering Trupti started crying. She didn't understand for whom she was crying for those burned people or her father-in-law. But she felt that she was crying for all those dead. Her sister explained situation to Psychiatrist. Psychiatrist " Tell her cry. When she managed to cry, she slowly start to accept death as that fact which was not evil at all. It hurt but we all needed to die one day. It is need of human life to survive our race. We all can't stay alive so young one will come and old one will go. Even nature might take some new ones if need arise. We need to accept it. I will teach all to her." Trupti's sister nodded. She sensed one thing that Trupti was in safe hand so she smiled happily. She was more happy when psychiatrist took Ashish's number from her and started chatting with her. She knew that Ashish needed to stay there for some time. But she knew that Trupti's burden was removed from her shoulder. She knew that she loved her sister. But she was no longer just her sister. She was Ashish's wife and Kanti's Mom. She wanted them to take decision so she took breath of relief.
