Sarika's nightmares
Sarika was having different dream which was creating impact
on their life. She was having those dreams for long time. She told her husband
Ravi about them before marriage. Ravi laughed & said “It’s nothing. All
people have nightmares time to time. Your nightmares would vanish too.” But she made it clear. “No Ravi they don’t
vanish. They kept coming. I don’t want you to take them lightly.” Ravi still
nodded & said “It’s okay. Few nightmares don’t harm us as married couple.”
Sarika wanted to explain him in details that nothing was helping her. Ravi kept
insisting on getting married with her. Finally, she gave up to his wishes. Then
she got married. Everything was fine during day. She was happy her entire
family was happy with her. Her mother-in-law couldn’t stop admiring her.
Everything was perfect. It was just the way she wanted. It was such perfect
day. She was so happy. She first time went in her husband’s house. Until now
she & Ravi used to go out for dating. She heard about his house but she
never visited. His house was getting redecorated on that time. Ravi told her
clearly that his house was small one. Ravi said “I am not rich man. You need to
handle all budget properly.” She didn’t want to discuss that. She just wanted
to talk about her nightmares. She kept discussing it. But clearly Ravi was not
interested in them. But when she first time entered in house, she sensed that
having nightmare in this house was not going to something which could be taken
lightly. In her house her parents were always considerate. She slowly asked
Ravi “I hope you told your family about my nightmares?” Ravi smiled & said
“Why did my parents need to know about it? They are not going to stay with us!
They will go back to our hometown tomorrow.” She didn’t like it. But she
nodded. That night she pretended her relaxed mood. She was so scared. That
night she screamed due to nightmare. Ravi promised to act relaxed. But he was
not. Ravi was so scared. Ravi asked “What happened?” She looked around. She
needed to wake up properly first. By then her in-laws started knocking on door.
Ravi needed to open it. Then she explained about her nightmare to entire
family. Her mother-in-law was so upset. “So, you were having it for long time!”
“Yes…I told all to Ravi. In fact, I was not saying yes to marriage just due to
it.” Then her mother-in-law looked angrily towards Ravi. “You should have told
us! We need to show her to some psychiatrist before marriage. You need to know
what is wrong with her.” She didn’t say anything. But she sensed one thing
according to her In-laws they got mad daughter-in-law since their son was
stupid enough to agree to marry to mad girl. She was so sad. She tried her best
to hide her tears. Ravi was already busy to convince his side. He began to tell
that he thought that it was just small issue. But one thing was clear before
all that it was not simple issue for them. Sarika knew that her different
dreams were going to create impact on their family. Her mother-in-law
immediately declared “We can’t go away tomorrow…” But Ravi objected “Mom let me
handle.” But his father didn’t support him. So, his parents decided to stay
with them. Clearly her dreams managed to impact her family in one day. Now she
was scared about her future journey.
Ravi was
not happy when Sarika screamed. He just wanted her to not do it on that day. It
was important to convince his parents everything was fine. He loved Sarika
& he wanted her at any cost. He didn’t care how serious might be her mental
illness. He loved her & he wanted her. But his parents were such bossy one.
He didn’t like it when they interfered but they never stopped. They felt that
was due to their genuine concern but he felt that it was just bullying & he
didn’t like it. He wanted to marry Sarika & now they were planning to
declare love of his life a mad woman. He didn’t want it to happen. He slowly
turned towards Sarika & said “You don’t need to visit psychiatrist. I will
tell my parents that we have already visited.” She felt so relieved. She didn’t
want to prove herself mad or go in mental hospital. “But I can’t stop having
those dreams.” Ravi slowly took her in his arms & said “It’s okay. I don’t
mind. My parents don’t need to keep telling me how do I supposed to live my
life. I love you & that’s enough.” Sarika smiled happily. She knew that
Ravi would handle all. Ravi was so stressed. But he went to his parents. “Mom,
I don’t feel I want you to take stress. I love Sarika. I took decision. I will
handle it.” His Mom smiled nicely. His Dad nodded too. Dad “You are right. You
have decided it. That girl didn’t lie to you so it was your mistake. You need
to handle it.” He was so shocked. He couldn’t believe that they were calling
his marriage a mistake! He was planning to talk but his mom suddenly began to
talk. “How can you blame everything on our son? He was in blind love. She could
clearly observe it.” It was so shocking. His parents were talking in such a way
as if he was planning for divorce. He screamed loudly “Will you stop this? I
love Sarika. She is my wife & I don’t mind nightmares.” His parents gave
odd sort of laugh which told him that they were telling him that he couldn’t
handle them. He was so glad that Sarika was not with him. He told Sarika to go
back to sleep. Sarika was sleeping peacefully. This time she didn’t had another
nightmare. She woke up in morning properly. She ran in kitchen to help in
cooking. Then she sensed that her in-laws already left house. She found one
letter in kitchen which was telling that they would return for lunch they went
to visit some friend. It was clear that they were not going so Sarika &
Ravi hardly able to enjoy positive life. Sarika didn’t understand why did they
supposed to stay with her if they hated her so much. They declared her mad woman
& still they wanted her to cook for them & give them respect. Sarika
was shy person so she couldn’t insult anyone but she felt so hurt when they
began to say on her face that she needed to be checked mentally before
marriage. It was not right to talk with someone like that. It was problematic.
She disliked them but she didn’t have much option so she needed to respect
them. She had already understood from Ravi what sort of food they liked so she
started cooking it. She needed to cook it in most tasty way. They must admire
its taste. She wanted to arrange it in plate properly. She felt positive about
all in her mind. She kept remembering what her mom told her. Her mom said “If
you act sweetly all will admire you. Your patience is most precious. Those
nightmares disturb them in night so they might dislike you but if you talk
sweetly then they will begin to admire you again.” She smiled & started to
cook lunch in best way. Today Ravi was going in office so she needed to handle
all by herself. They would go out on honeymoon next month. Ravi managed to get
tour on that time so now Ravi needed to go to office. She said good bye to him
very sweetly & told herself that she would do her best to get things as
they wanted.
Sarika kept
arranging everything properly. She needed to arrange all food items then she
also made fruit juice. She cooked dessert. She used nice curtains, table
clothes. She managed to decorate her house in best way. Her house was looking
so nice. She kept watching it carefully. She wanted to arrange all properly.
She wanted to receive admiration from her in-laws. She waited hopefully.
Finally, her in-laws came. They both entered in house. They looked around.
Slowly her mother-in-law spoke “Well it is nice that you decorated house but
you must not waste these things daily. You need to think about budget.” She was
so shocked. She didn’t understand how could she move in such wrong way. She was
having so many hopes that her in-laws would admire her. She began to feel so
stressed by entire incidence. She told herself that she needed to think
positively about all. She tried her best to control her negative thoughts. Then
she suggested for lunch. But her father-in-law declared “We just ate food from
our relative’s house. You will not eat it so soon. We will eat after sometime.”
She felt so sad. It was so upsetting. She didn’t understand that why they
didn’t like anything. She tried her best to get all as per their desires but
nothing seemed to work for her. She began to get stressed. She said slowly “I
wanted to make you happy.” Her mother-in-law said slowly “Then give divorce.”
Her father-in-law gave odd laugh. She knew that there was no turning back for
her. She was so sad. She didn’t keep quiet any more. “I told Ravi many times. I
am not suitable for him. But he decided to marry. Now I will no longer turn
back.” His parents gave angry look to
her then they returned to their room. They got all. They had their room. Their
comforts! She was only one who was suffering. Entire day she tried her best to
act normal but they were not trying to act normal. They kept showing anger. She
sensed one thing. It was hard for her to survive this way. Finally in night
Ravi came from office. When he came his parents kept talking happily with him.
His Mom avoided her subject but one thing was clear. They were not going
anywhere. They were planning to stay with her. She was so upset. She began to
feel as if they never planned to go back. She began to feel that some one
managed to drag her in this issue. She knew that his parents hated her but
before Ravi, they called her. They smiled so sweetly. She felt that Ravi
managed to convince them & they were no longer angry. His mother called her
nearby. She went near her mother-in-law. Her mother-in-law slowly took out one
box from her purse. She slowly opened that box which had beautiful diamond
necklace. They had given her such costly gift. She smiled sweetly. She sensed
that they admire her. They had given her costly gift & she assumed it as
signature of their admiration. She decided that she misunderstood them. She
took it & thanked. Ravi smiled & went to get fresh. Immediately her
mother-in-law looked towards food. “So, you kept morning’s food only?” “No…no I
cooked again.” “What? Such waste of food.” She felt so confused. She said “I
have just added few items.” Her mother-in-law gave an angry look. She didn’t
like the way she kept looking towards her. She felt so scared. Ravi came in
room on that point. Then Ravi began “Mom I feel she is okay. She doesn’t need
to visit psychiatrist.” His Mom nodded. Then his father added “Do you feel she
can’t be cured?” He was so shocked. She thought Ravi would argue for her but
it didn’t happen. Ravi just nodded & said “You are right. She can’t be
cured. Psychiatrist just keep wasting money.” She was so angry. She said “Then why
did you married to me?” Ravi smiled in odd way. Ravi “I want you so I did it.
But I don’t understand that nightmares mean so much noise.” She felt so angry.
She went in her room. She didn’t understand what she supposed to do. She just
began to pack her bags. Soon she was out of house. Ravi was running behind her.
He was apologizing. He was telling her that he needed to pretend before parents.
He kept saying that they own everything. He had limited income. She didn’t
care. She just went out of that house. She went back to her parents. Until now
her parents always looked happy but today, they were not happy to see her. When
she explained issue, her parents began to tell she needed to adjust. She sensed
one thing that there was no turning back. Her father started to suggest that
she might visit psychiatrist. She felt so sad. But she nodded. She needed to do
that.
Next day Sarika
went to Psychiatrist. Her father managed to take special appointment. Psychiatrist
listened to her. She soon sensed that her issue was not big one. Psychiatrist
convinced her that she was not mad the way her in-laws were trying to prove. They
just needed to plan treatment for her. It would take some time but she would be
fine. She went happily back to her parent’s home. It was so frustrating. She
needed to feel positive but she kept feeling negative. She began to feel no one
wanted her. Soon she began to find some work. Luckily she found one job in
other town. She began to work as cashier of one shop. She made sure that she
would stay alone. She continued her treatment. Slowly her nightmares stopped. She
stopped her treatment but on that day Ravi sent divorce paper. She was so relieved.
She didn’t tell him that she was fine. She just signed them. She knew one thing
that she wanted out of that relationship. She might fall in love again or she
might not fall but she didn’t want to drag it. She informed her parents about
it too. They didn’t argue much. So finally, she became one divorcee without any
nightmares in night. It might not look pleasant situation for others but she
was happy about it. Finally, she learnt to enjoy her life happily & began
to smile openly without restrictions.
The End
