Supriya’s roommate
Tina began to do her dancing practice as she always did. Nothing was new in it. She was doing it for long time. She loved dance since childhood. She was so happy to able to perform. She started to wear her shoes. They were glass slipper. They were shining in that light. She felt a magic in them. She began to start to dance. She started to sense music in her mind. She began to tap her legs. She was floating in air. She was so happy. She began to feel like princess. She was so happy. She began to dance & suddenly roses started to fall on her. She began to say “ Thank you. ..Thank you.” Supriya was sleeping peacefully on her bed when Tina started screaming “ Thank you...Thank you.” It was so confusing. Supriya was sharing her room with Tina. They were paying guest. Both had come to study. Supriya wanted to go in hostel but sadly she didn’t manage to get one room. It was so upsetting. She needed to take room as Paying Guest. She wanted to study in nice college. She wanted to complete her education properly. She began to get settled in this flat when Tina appeared. Supriya didn’t want to complaint about Tina. She knew that Tina was struggling to settle in flat. Tina was normal girl. She didn’t have any addictions or boy friends. She heard other girls complaining about smoking & drinking habits of their room mate. She needed to admire Tina for not having those habits. She knew that they were big trouble. Her one friend was telling her roommate managed to hide her cigarettes under her clothes & landlord thought that her friend was smoking. Her friend tried to convince but it didn’t work. Finally her friend needed to find new place. Her friend was so happy that at least land lord didn’t tell her parents. Supriya felt scared just at that thought. Supriya knew that her Dad already wanted to stop her education & marry her off to some son of his friend. But her grandfather insisted on educating her. Her Mom was already dead so she didn’t have any support from her. Her step Mom was okay but her step Mom never interfered in her matter. Her Dad kept reminding her step Mom that she was not her real Mom so Supriya didn’t want any risk to her career. She knew that Tina was normal girl like her. But Tina was talking in sleep every day. It was so irritating. She wanted to sleep peacefully & in middle of sleep suddenly Tina began to talk. Supriya decided to put cotton in her ears from next day. She was so upset by all. But she knew that it was better. She began to feel so uneasy when Tina began to laugh loudly. She could see Tina’s face in light of moon. Tina’s face was looking so pale. Tina was weak & slim. Supriya noticed from first day that Tina was never physically strong. Supriya didn’t want to comment on it since Supriya was overweight so no body was perfect. But now a days Tina stopped eating. Supriya noticed it every day. At beginning she used to think that Tina was eating in college. On that point their classes were different but since Supriya decided to change her course in this semester they both started attending same class. Tina was always surrounded by her friends. Supriya tried to say “ Hi!” few times. Supriya even went to stand with that group but she couldn’t include herself in it. Tina was so famous in those girls. Tina was so stylish whenever Tina spoke all just agree with her but she was just forcing herself in conversation. She soon sensed that they didn’t want her. So she sat back on her bench. She didn’t understand why a girl who was so happy & living perfect life needed to get so restless. But Tina was getting restless every day. It was upsetting for her. She saw her room mate was not eating properly. She saw that in college Tina did eat much in canteen. Tina went in Canteen then she just sat with some thing to drink. It might be coffee or tea or cold drinks. Tina never even drank milk shakes. It was clear that she was not having anything which could make her less hungry. Supriya sensed one thing that Tina was not eating properly but she couldn’t argue. It was not her matter. Supriya was good friend of Tina but she was not sure if Tina would like her interference. Supriya was watching Tina clapping. She felt as if Tina was getting so thin that she would vanish one day in this style. Supriya was shivering with fear. She was so scared that she might become like her one day if she kept staying with her. For world Tina was great thing but Supriya didn’t like that life. Every night Tina kept talking to herself. Supriya felt as if she was just started to get mad by this. Supriya had enough. She looked out of window. She suddenly noticed her car. She suddenly remembered that she brought her car. She was not permitted to drive but her cousin who came to drop her kept this car here when he came to drop her. He smiled & said “This is my old car. I don’t drive it much. You are not permitted to drive but still I keep just in case.” She knew that her cousin cared for her. After her mother’s death they were her true family. Her father was never considerate towards her. She had two step sisters but they were too scared of her father they didn’t talk with her much. She knew that her step sister felt that they would get blamed if they told something to her. She saw plenty of times when they came to chat with her immediately their Mom stopped them. Her father didn’t like their chatting with her. Her father didn’t like any one chatting or laughing. He didn’t like anyone except himself. He hated all his daughters equally but sometimes he kept pretending that he liked one out of them to get some benefits from his daughter. She slowly sensed that her track of thinking was moving in wrong direction. It was totally upsetting for her. She started to watch car again. She felt that she might need to sleep in that car. She knew that it would look odd. Her landlady always came in garden early morning so her landlady would surely observe her. It was frustrating for her. She slowly looked towards Tina. By now Tina stopped talking. Supriya decided to go to sleep. Supriya knew that she didn't have much option. Supriya didn’t understand why her life needed to move always in wrong way. She couldn’t get any happiness. She started to cry slowly in memories of her Mom. She was so sad.
Next morning when Supriya woke up, she began to feel so nervous. She didn’t understand cause of it. She wanted to feel relaxed. Before her Tina was jumping with joy. Tina looked like model of perfection while she looked totally wrong. Supriya went out. Immediately her Land lady came out. Land lady “ So you overslept again?.. come on! I know girls like you don’t need to work at home. But now you need to learn.” Supriya felt so stressed. On every step of her life how hard she tried but she proved herself useless. Now once every one used to admire her for her hard work but now she began to look like burden to all. She knew that she was not perfect but she tried so hard. She knew that her Dad never admired her while her step Mom always kept admiring her without cause. On plenty of occasions she felt that her step Mom was doing it just because her step Mom felt that she didn’t want to appear like evil mother of Cinderella. But she never felt like that about her step Mom. Her Dad was always too bossy. She didn’t understand when she would learn to please her Dad. But now she sensed that she couldn’t please anyone. It was frustrating. Supriya smiled & said “ Sorry from tomorrow I will set alarm.” “ Great. I hope you remember that today you are going to cut vegetables for me?!” This was extra work this landlady expected them to do. Landlady “ I am telling you to do this since after marriage you can’t avoid kitchen. Can you?” Supriya began to get restless. She didn’t want to start cooking while taking education. She wanted to get married but to suitable boy who would love her. She didn’t plan to marry someone at random. It was so stressful. She ran towards kitchen since she knew that after education she needed to marry. She needed to cook properly in her husband’s house otherwise she would suffer taunts. It was not pleasant at all. She didn’t want to hear abuse from any one. She wanted to keep everyone happy but she understood long ago that it was impossible. She couldn’t even able to keep one person happy. She began to feel so useless. She started to sense that she needed to cook. She went in kitchen & started cutting vegetables. She wanted to do it fast. She could hear how sweetly landlady was talking with Tina. According to landlady Tina was perfect. Tina kept talking entire night but it was not her mistake. They didn’t blame her. Supriya wanted proper sleep at night but she was scared to demand it. She kept cutting vegetables. She done all. She decided that she might cook some item for lunch too. She decided that she wanted to impress landlady little bit. She cooked spicy food then she kept it on table & ran to college. She went in college. She was trying so hard to gasp but she couldn’t understand subjects. She wanted to prove herself but she sensed that she was not smart enough to do it. She began to get so upset by all. She wanted to prove herself intelligent but she couldn’t help it. After trying so hard in college to adjust with situations she came back. She saw that Tina was successful on every step. She was expecting to relax herself in house but as soon as she entered landlady came towards her. Landlady “ Did you cook that vegetable in morning?” She could sense that it was mistake. “ Yes. I thought that it will help?” Tina came after her & gave her meaningful look which told her that she did big mistake. She immediately said “ I am so sorry.” “ From now just keep one thing in mind never cook anything without my permission.” She nodded. “ In fact never cook anything. You cook too spicy! Now who will eat that entire vegetable you have cooked?” She worked hard to control her tears. She said “ Sorry” once again. She ran towards her bedroom. She began to cry on bed. That landlady turned towards Tina. Then Landlady began to speak with Tina “ Something was totally wrong with this girl. She is crying now. All will feel I am some evil person!” Tina “ No..no you are most kind lady! Actually she is missing her home. She never faced world that much. Her mother died.” “ And her father pampered her too much.” Supriya was so shocked. Her father never talked sweetly with her & this lady was suggesting that she was getting pampered. She didn’t say anything. She began to feel that she must get married instead of getting further education. She was so upset by all. She decided that she would took small vacation & go home. She called her Dad. “ Dad I thought about it all. I will quit idea of studying further!” “ Great! From beginning I was telling you that you are not smart like others. You can’t complete that course.” She nodded. She knew that she was useless. She was convinced about it. That night she tried so hard to sleep. But she couldn’t. She kept having nightmare after nightmare. She kept feeling upset about them. She wanted to feel normal. While Tina was enjoying her night in her claps, she was suffering so much due to her depression. She couldn’t even able to sleep. She sensed that she needed help. She looked at clock. It was night but she knew that her cousin must be awake. She decided to give a call him. He was her brother & he always helped her. She was so upset by all issues. She began to get depressed. She waited until he didn’t pick her call. Finally he took her call. She controlled her tears & told everything to him. He slowly told her “ I want you to call psychiatrist.” “ I am not mad!” “ Well but you are depressed. It happening since death of your Mom!” “ This is happening since Tina talk in night.” She said this & disconnected her call. She started crying. She was so upset. She felt that her brother called her mad. She was upset about her Mom’s death but every person get upset about such a incidence. She was totally normal. She was unhappy due to Tina. She started to look towards Tina. She began to wish only if she could kill her. She thought it then she started to feel guilty. She started to blame herself but then Tina started laughing in her sleep again. She began to feel so angry. She wanted to hit her. She went back towards her bed. She took cushion in her hand. She stood near Tina.
Supriya was holding cushion towards Tina’s face when Tina suddenly woke up. Tina screamed “ What are you doing?” Supriya looked towards her hand. She sensed that her hand was empty. She was just standing there. She was watching Tina with full attention. Supriya said “ Nothing. I just thought that there was something on your dress.” Tina immediately stood up & started cleaning her dress. Tina “ What was it?” Supriya “ Maybe some insect from lamp? Sometimes they come in night? Sorry I manage to wake you up. I was not planning to..” Tina smiled & said “It’s okay! You did right thing. We need to do some pest control for these insects. But who will tell it to that landlady! That landlady is so frustrating. I mean you cook in such nice way still she scream on you & yesterday she forced me to cook. When I did it she said it was less spicy now you did she said it was too spicy! But we can’t argue. We need to stay here. It was really upsetting.” Supriya nodded slowly. Supriya was clearly upset about entire incidence. She wanted to feel normal but she was not feeling that way. She was so stressed. She knew that she was planning to kill innocent girl. She ran towards her mobile. She smiled & told Tina “ I need to go in washroom!” & ran with mobile. Tina kept telling “ Keep mobile outside at least?!” But then Tina laughed & ignored her. Supriya went inside washroom & called her cousin again. She started to cry on mobile. Then after sometime she controlled herself & told all to him. Cousin said “ Just relax. I will come tomorrow & we will go to Psychiatrist.” “ But what if I kill someone in night?!” Cousin didn’t say anything for sometime. Then Cousin said “ Just go to that car & sleep in it.” Supriya felt so happy about it. Supriya locked herself in car. She started music & slept there. She didn’t understand when morning came until her landlady didn’t knock on window of car. She came out. Landlady “ Why did you sleep in car?” “ Ohh! I went in car & door got locked!” “ But you have keys. You just came out yourself.” “ Actually I just found them near my feet. You woke me & I moved my leg. Actually in night hard to find anything!” “ Do you have any problem in eyes?!” She looked towards landlady with confused expression. Suddenly on that point Taxi came. Her cousin came out. He smiled. Landlady knew him since he dropped her. Cousin said “So you are already got our car ready for our trip?” Landlady started laughing. “ She didn’t got it ready instead she was stuck in car for entire night.” Supriya gave weak smile. Then she immediately went in room. Her Cousin came behind her. She was so nervous. Tina was searching for her. Tina “ Where were you? I was searching in entire house!” Landlady came inside while laughing. Landlady “ She locked herself in car for entire night.” Tina looked nervous. Then they all went in room. Tina looked towards her & said “ What happened tell me the truth?” Supriya looked away. Her cousin started to make excuse but she stopped him. Supriya “ Remember last night! I stood beside your bed. I was trying to kill you with cushion.” Tina started laughing. Tina suddenly stopped when she sensed that Supriya didn’t join her. Tina “ You are standing there for long time without doing anything. I observed you then finally I sensed that you might be sleepwalking but you were in strange state of mind.” Cousin smiled happily. “ So you were not killing anyone?!” But Supriya started crying. “ I am sure. I was!” Tina patted on her shoulder then Tina said slowly “ Do you notice I am eating perfectly now? I talk during sleep still but my eating habits improved!” Supriya looked towards Tina. She sensed that Tina was truly looking healthy. She nodded. Tina “ I went to Psychiatrist.” Supriya smiled happily so she was not only one who needed. Supriya “ I am going today too.” Her Cousin immediately gave name & number of Psychiatrist. Tina looked confused. “ I am going to different but this one might be good too.” Supriya insisted on trying one which Tina was referring. But Tina laughed. Tina “ Come on. Let’s go to this one. I will come along too.” So they all went to Psychiatrist. Tina was trying hard to make them laugh. But Supriya couldn’t. Finally time came for Supriya to enter in Psychiatrist’s room. Supriya decided to go alone. Then she told all to Psychiatrist step by step. Psychiatrist listened to her. But he didn’t say anything for long time. Then after some time finally he decided to talk. He said “ You were not planning to kill your friend. But you were just jealous of her. You said her Mom was calling her daily. Her Mom was cause of your jealousy. Can I suggest you one thing?” She nodded. “ Why don’t you discuss this with your step Mom?” She didn’t like that idea. Then Psychiatrist just changed subject. Her treatment was started. Psychiatrist said that it was due to death of her Mom. She kept coming. Slowly she began to concentrate on her studies. She began to get okay marks too. She was so happy. Finally one day she returned home on vacation. She came back. Her step sisters talked nicely. But her step Mom didn’t say much. Her step Mom cooked what she loved. She ate. She didn’t say anything until night. Then she suddenly went to kitchen. Every one was sleeping her step Mom was washing pots. She went near her. She hugged her & cried. Her step Mom looked scared. Her step Mom looked just like her Mom. She told everything to her step Mom. They decided to hide it from her father. Then in morning her step Mom called Psychiatrist. Her step Mom talked for hours. Supriya knew that her step Mom cried entire night for her. Then after lots of convincing finally she went back to college. But this time she was not upset. Her step Mom was calling her every day. She smiled. She felt her life was perfect. She knew that she had troubles but she didn’t care. She got two Moms now. One her dead Mom who was advising her in memory & one step Mom who was there for her. Tina no longer made her feel inferior since she knew that she had two Moms & Tina had just one. She laughed at that thought. She knew that her life was perfect.
