Can’t stop eating
Trupti was searching for excuse to deny invitation to party. She didn’t understand why did people loved parties so much. She wanted to scream on them & tell them that parties were not healthy. But she knew that if she did this then people would start calling her eccentric. She was actually eccentric. She knew that she hated parties & it was not normal according to everyone she knew. They were ready to die to attend party. But Trupti always managed to find one good excuse for not coming to party. She was going to give it when suddenly her friend Rina declared in conference call before all that she was planning to stay with Trupti. Trupti was so shocked. Trupti was not married. She was staying with her parents & she couldn’t invite anyone like that. Her parents were not easy to handle. She knew that inviting a guest would be most embarrassing for her. Trupti wanted to deny but it was impossible. She just wanted to discuss it alone with Rina. But Rina declared it in conference call so it was impossible to deny it. Trupti sensed that now she couldn’t escape it. Trupti regretted taking that conference call. She knew one thing denying that invitation was useless for her. She didn’t say anything. She just disconnected that conference call. She knew that she needed to convince her parents to act nice before her friend Rina. But they couldn’t. They just kept acting same way. She knew that. She came out in kitchen. Once again her Mom was cooking that fatty food which she didn’t want to eat. She knew that once they used to live in joint family & many family members were used to like it but now they were alone. They had big family. Her father was elder brother & he had three brothers & two sisters. He managed to take care of entire family since his Dad was not responsible. Her grandfather kept wasting money on his bad habits. Her father managed it all. Her mother helped him. It was okay but slowly they developed love towards them like parents but sadly they didn’t. Her Uncles or Aunties didn’t disrespect them. They always admired. They gave her parents inherited house which was big one. They gave them large share of property with it. Her parents could easily manage to get on with their life with plenty of luxuries but they didn’t gave one thing that was their company. None of them was ready to stay with her parents. They were not even interested in visiting her parents. Their kids never showed any interest in visiting house. Her parents didn’t accept it. They kept claiming that they would come. Even today her Mom was cooking something which was favourite for one of her Uncle. She screamed loudly “ Mom why you keep cooking those oily meals? Mom I don’t like to eat them. They damage my health.” Her Mom gave her confused look. Mom “ I am cooking same way for years & no one got sick due to my food.” “ That was our good luck but Mom you must not try to stretch it too much.” She went near the food. It was oily & spicy. She began to feel sick just by watching it. She looked away. “ Mom cook something simple for me.” Mom nodded. Her Mom always cooked different food for her. It was not issue for her Mom but her Dad hated it. Her Dad came in kitchen. “ Why you need to cook different for her every time? You are spoiling her.” Mom “ It’s okay. She is weak in health.” Trupti hated this reminder but she knew that she didn’t have much option. She couldn’t eat that food & stay healthy. Her Dad “ Look at me. I am so healthy. I can’t believe my child could be so weak. She went after your side in health issue.” Her Mom didn’t say anything. Her Mom never say anything to anyone. Her Mom always kept taking taunts of other people peacefully. Her Mom acted in such a way that people could treat her like punching bag. Her Dad kept abusing her every chance he get. It was so wrong. She began to feel so restless. She wanted to start abusing too. But she knew that this daily episode wouldn’t help her. She was sure about one thing that she couldn’t bring Rina in this house. She needed to make different arrangements. But even those arrangements were impossible now. She knew that Rina didn’t want to waste her money on hotel. If she decided to book one, it would appear odd. She suddenly got one idea. She saw one invitation for marriage by her cousin. She could go there. She didn’t want to travel with her parents but she didn’t have much option. She gave it to her Dad. “ I forgot to give this.” Her Dad looked towards her. He took it. But suddenly he lost interest. Her Dad said quietly “ I don’t want to go there.” “ But you miss them so much.” Her Mom “ We don’t want to go. They keep asking for money from your father.” She was so confused. She didn’t know this. “ So?! My Uncle tried to ask for money?!” “ No..no his son.” Trupti was so shocked. But she decided to not interfere in matter. Trupti said slowly “ My one friend want to stay in this house.” Her Dad gave angry look. Dad “ So you invited her without asking us?!” “ No..no I didn’t invite her. We were planning a party but I was not going in it. She was planning to go so she said she would stay with us.” Her Dad was so nervous. “ She must not stay here. You know what happens when person stays here.” She was irritated. “ Dad I am staying here since childhood I have some right on this house. Rina is coming. She is going to stay. That’s all.” After this her parents didn’t say anything. She was so scared that they might argue but luckily they didn’t finally everything was over. She was so happy. She arranged everything as per her choice. Finally that day came when Rina was coming. She was little bit scared. She looked around her house. Her house was old but not so bad. Then she sensed that it was too old & it was needing some repairing which her Dad kept ignoring. But she told herself that it was not movement to think about it. She told herself that every thing was perfect. She kept thinking positive. Then door bell rang. Trupti opened door. Rina was standing outside. Rina was looking so different. Once Rina was slim like some model but now she managed to gain some weight. Trupti was not against gaining weight but Rina was getting breathless which was risky. Trupti started to get stressed. She tried to smile but it was not working. Rina was not looking healthy.
With Trupti’s help Rina came inside. Rina sat on sofa. Rina “ I am getting so breathless lately. I don’t know why?!” She wanted to say due to weight but she didn’t. Trupti just sat beside Rina & smiled. “ It’s okay. Few people get breathless.” “ But this is so embarrassing.” Rina seemed on verge of crying. Trupti didn’t understand cause. She was feeling so nervous. She never saw Rina that way. Trupti sensed that something was wrong with Rina. Rina was no longer that same girl from college who used to joke on life every time. Rina was not enjoying life same way. Trupti was so confused. Trupti didn’t know much about Rina after her marriage. Trupti “ So you are married?” Rina smiled sweetly. “ Yes. I have two kids.” Trupti felt happy for her. Trupti didn’t understand how to react on this. Trupti was neither obsessed with kids nor dislike her. Trupti just didn’t want to marry so she never thought about it. Trupti was happy that Rina began to talk about her kids. Trupti wanted to avoid other subjects. Specially anything regarding her parent! Trupti was feeling so restless & upset. Trupti wanted to escape all. But she knew that she was stuck in this mess. She kept watching Rina carefully. She sensed one thing that entertaining Rina for whole time was not easy job. She felt so restless. She didn’t understand what she supposed to do. On that point her Mom came in room. Her Mom asked “ Hello how are you? You must be hungry & thirsty. Let me fix something for you.” Rina literally jumped with joy. “ Thanks.” Trupti just nodded. Trupti began to sense one thing. She needed to adjust with Rina. Rina was acting so different. Rina talked about her kids but it didn’t seem natural at all. It seemed as if she was creating some imaginary kids. Trupti sensed it but then she began to feel that it was just her jealousy. She didn’t have kids so she was feeling this way. She gave smiling look to Rina. She didn’t ask any question. Then Mom brought snacks. Rina started eating. Trupti noticed that Rina was eating in strange way. It seemed as if food was most precious thing for her. Trupti didn’t want to hurt Rina by commenting on it. Her Mom sat on one sofa. Soon her Dad joined them too. Luckily her parents were in good mood that day. They didn’t seem to enjoy company of guest. Trupti felt so relaxed. She could enjoy herself now. She didn’t want to keep talking with Rina. She was happy to give that responsibility to someone else. She began to play some game in mobile. She began to like her mobile world more than her true world. She started watching mobile. It was so pleasant. She began to feel so happy inside it. In that world she was some super human being. She was so happy about that feeling. She didn’t want to enter in reality at all. In this reality her life was full of miseries. She was feeling so happy in this mobile world. She wanted to stay in it. But then on that point Rina began to talk with her. She was so confused in thought. She kept nodding. Then finally she sensed that Rina was telling her that Rina was planning to visit Rina’s cousin & she agreed to it. She was so upset. Trupti wanted to deny but her Mom already began to arrange dress for her. Her Mom always managed to choose better clothes for her. She knew it so she always permitted her Mom to do it. Her Mom began to arrange dress. Then her Mom ironed it. Whole time Trupti was regretting her decision of not paying attention to conversation. She could have avoided this visit. Then finally Trupti went in room & got ready to go. When she came out Rina was already gone out. She literally ran to catch up with Rina. She didn’t understand how could Rina move so fast. Rina was running so fast. Rina didn’t acting normal. Trupti sensed it. Trupti went in car as soon as possible. She was feeling so upset. She didn’t understand why did she forced to go with Rina. She knew that this must be some plan. Then soon she noticed even while driving car Rina was munching potato chips continuously. It seemed as if Rina needed food whole time. Trupti never saw her so obsessed with eating. Trupti didn’t want to comment on her weight. Trupti knew that it managed to hurt many people. But this was different. It seemed that Rina was getting breathless due to overweight. Rina was eating so much. Trupti never saw anyone who ate even while driving. It was risky too. Trupti needed to say something. Trupti “ Rina if you are so hungry. Stop car & eat.” Trupti was trying to suggest different thing & it came out of her mouth in totally different way. Rina smiled & said “ It’s okay. Don’t worry we will not have accident.” Trupti observed that Rina was driving in perfectly smooth way. It seemed as if she drive & eat every time. Then they finally reached to her cousin’s house. Rina rang door bell. A handsome man came out to open door. Trupti didn’t want to admire him. But she couldn’t help herself. She began to sense that Rina might be trying to arrange date for her. But her entire dream was shattered when his beautiful wife came from behind. She was so beautiful that Trupti sensed that she never had any chance before her even if Rina managed to introduce Trupti to this man before marriage. That man smiled & said “ Hello I am Tarun. This is my wife Nisha.” Before Trupti could say anything Suddenly Rina asked “ So did you bought them?” Tarun looked confused. But he nodded. Nisha smiled & said “ Of course. We don’t know you love those chocolates so much.” Rina “ Yes..yes I want to eat them for such a long time. But no one was permitting it.” Now after hearing this Tarun began to get uneasy. Tarun “ Why no one was permitting you to eat them?” Rina laughed. “ Don’t worry. I is just extra weight issue. Where are those chocolates?” Actually now Tarun & Nisha were not so sure that they wanted to give it to her. But Rina started giving money for them. Nisha “ It’s okay.” “ I can’t take them free.” Rina forced money in Nisha’s hand. Nisha was planning to return back but then she looked confused. It was clear that she needed money. Tarun went inside & came back with chocolates. Nisha suddenly changed her mind. Nisha began to give back money. Nisha “ Actually we don’t need this. We want to keep chocolates for kid..”before Nisha could complete her sentence Rina grabbed box of chocolates & literally she ran towards car. Trupti was so shocked. Trupti just kept standing in door. When Rina began to call her, Trupti said good bye to them & ran towards car.
Rina immediately started eating chocolates. Trupti sensed that this was something wrong. Trupti took hold of her hand & said “ Stop it.” “ I can’t. I need to eat them. They manage to relax my mind & reduce my tension.” “ What tension?” Rina was driving while discussing. Suddenly Trupti sensed that they might had accident. Trupti screamed “ Stop the car!” And they escaped hitting one truck. Trupti “ You are not in proper mind to drive. Let’s keep this car on side of road..” Rina began to chant something then Rina said “ I am fine.” She started driving without eating. When they came home, they pretended everything was fine. But Trupti knew inside her heart that it was not. Trupti decided that she needed to discuss with Rina. She showed Rina her guest room. Rina went inside. Then Rina suddenly began to ask for some fruits. Rina “ I want to keep them. So that I can eat them if I want. I don’t want to trouble anyone..” Trupti closed door of room & forcibly pushed Rina on sofa to sit down. Rina sat on it & suddenly it gave up. Trupti needed to hold her. Rina gave strange laugh. Rina “ Now I began to weight so much that even Sofa can’t able to manage my weight.” “ It’s not about sofa. It was old but you are getting breathless. It will have bad effect on you...” “ I will die” Rina completed Trupti’s sentence. Actually Trupti didn’t want to say those harsh words. Death was something Trupti never wanted to talk about. But Rina completed for her. “ I was telling you about kids. Remember!” Trupti nodded. “ It was all past.” Trupti looked confused. “ I don’t get it. You have two kids.” “ Yes. I had once.” “ I don’t understand. They are okay?” Rina started laughing. “ No..no they are alive & okay. Actually they are too smart. They know how to choose in world.” Rina started laughing in strange way. Trupti was so confused. Rina “ You know about my marriage?” Trupti actually didn’t remember much. Rina smiled. “ I tell you once again. I married to nice dentist. He seemed such nice man. But then one day he met a model. She was new comer of industry. She started meeting him daily. I never understood it. Until finally one day he came to me & asked for divorce..” Trupti was shocked. Rina“ I know it look odd. But that was truth. He was not spending much nights at home. But he told me that he opened one production house. I never asked for it’s name. But it had name of that model. He told me he went to work. He used to take kids out. They used to enjoy those outings. I never sensed that this model was introduced to them during those picnics. My kids began to admire her style. Slowly they began to like her. I began to get irritated by all. I wanted to enjoy my life too. For kids I become boring Mom. Then he came asked for divorce. I cried. I argued. But nothing worked. For few days my kids supported me. But then slowly that lady managed to convince them too. My husband was fighting every day. He even did one suicide attempt. I got scared & gave divorce. At beginning kids were with me. But then slowly they shifted to her. Now I have no one except empty home & alimony.” Trupti didn’t understand what she supposed to say but then she said “ You can stay here as long as you want.” Rina screamed happily “ Really?! I will pay rent or other expenses..” “ No need. I want you to just visit psychiatrist.” Rina made sad face.Rina “ My Mom was suggesting same but I just runaway from her & came here.” Trupti “ You need a Psychiatrist.” Rina nodded. Rina “ I want to stay here.” Trupti went out of room. She went in her parent’s room. She told them all. “ & Rina is staying with us.” She was shocked when they nodded. Her Dad “ I like some company. That girl is very nice & entertaining not like you.” Trupti liked this criticism too. She smiled. So she decided to turn that guest room into Rina’s room. But her Dad offered one of the room which he kept for his sister to Rina. Trupti smiled happily & agreed. She felt as if her parents were trying to move on & it was great. Rina was very thrilled when she saw that beautiful room. She tried to say it was too much. But in her heart she wanted it. So Rina settled in that house. But Trupti knew that she needed treatment. She kept eating again & again. But Trupti noticed that when Rina began to chat with her Dad. She forget eating. Her Dad was so happy. Trupti was pleased too. But then one day her Dad asked “ Trupti when you are taking her to psychiatrist? She is getting sick day by day.” Trupti sensed emergency. Trupti immediately called her family Doctor who suggested Psychiatrist. Then in few seconds she managed appointment. She didn’t warn Rina. But she called Rina’s parents. Rina’s Mom was literally crying on mobile. “ Rina is not only eating but she is killing herself. She knew that what was happening to her.” Trupti told about psychiatrist. Rina’s Mom thanked her. “ We did big mistake by suggesting that marriage. It was worst thing for Rina.” Trupti changed subject since she didn’t want to know more about that failed marriage. She didn’t want to know too much about Rina’s personal life. Then on day of appointment she told Rina. She called Cab since she didn’t want Rina to drive. She totally forgot about get-together for which Rina had come. When Rina mentioned it, she sensed that it was on that day only. “ Let’s go to Psychiatrist after it we can go there.” Rina wanted to argue but didn’t. So they got ready when Cab came they immediately went out. They told address. Entire time Rina was eating something. Trupti tried to object then she gave up. She decided let Doctor handle it.
When Trupti & Rina waited for their number, Rina managed to eat at least three packets of biscuits. Trupti was trying to stop. But receptionist came on that point. She took away Rina’s packet & said “ Doctor gave you emergency appointment.” Trupti sensed that receptionist observed emergency of situation. They went inside. Trupti narrated all. Then she came outside. Trupti kept doing something on mobile. After long time Psychiatrist called Trupti inside. Psychiatrist “ Your friend is suffering due to Binge eating disorder due to Anxiety disorder which developed during divorce & then she began to depression which lead to this Binge eating disorder. This is not incurable. We will cure it after treatment. But today don’t go to party since she must not see food around her easily at this moment. She need to reduce weight to stay healthy & alive. She said she enjoyed company of your parents. Specifically your father!” Trupti smiled. “ Yes when she sat with him she forgot eating. Even Dad enjoyed her company so much. His dark moods are reduced.” “ Then let her enjoy evening with him. She said she liked gardening. You encourage it. But plant flower not fruits or vegetables.” Rina “ Yes I can’t eat them. I will plant roses.” Psychiatrist “ No..no some people even eat their petals!” Rina & Trupti gave shocked looks to Psychiatrist. Then they started laughing. When they came out, Rina told all truth. Rina declared her trouble. They all decided to come in Trupti’s house. On that day no one mentioned food. Finally they ate dinner. But Rina was given just limited food on plate. She kept asking for more. But all kept changing subject. They all sensed that it was hard for Rina but they decided to help her. After that party Rina felt so relaxed. First time she told all truth. But Rina knew that she couldn’t control herself so soon. So she told Trupti’s Mom to lock kitchen door. Then finally Rina went to sleep peacefully while hoping for wonderful life.
