Rita's Picnic
Rita was feeling so upset. She planned all and suddenly this happened. Rita was going to picnic with her school. Her bag was packed. Her Dad bought all necessary things. This was first time when her Mom permitted her to go on school trip which was out of her state. It was so exciting. Her friends were going on camping and school trips for long time but she was not permitted. Her Mom was always against it. But this time her Mom agreed. She planned all. She was talking with her friend on mobile. On that point call came and everything was shattered. Her Mom came running in room. Mom " There is bad news. You grandmother is slipped in kitchen. I need to go there." She nodded. " It's okay Mom. I am going to that trip any way." " No..no you can't go to trip. Your grandma is going in hospital. You can't go to trip on such point." She was so shocked. Her Dad came in. His face was sad too. " Rita call your friend and tell her too. I am calling your teacher. Let's hope we might able to get back some money. " Rita was so angry. She wanted to cry. Her entire trip was spoiled. Her dreams were shattered. But no one cared. Her Mom started calling her Uncle and Auntie. They started to plan all. She was not no longer part of it. Her Dad sat in room. But his only concern was to get back his money. Rita was so upset. She didn't want to cry before her Dad she wanted him out of room. She was unpacking all while her Dad was arguing. Then suddenly her Dad came in her room and said " Do you want to go on this trip?" She nodded. " Then put it back and go. Your teacher will come. Go with her." She was so confused. Her Mom was not there to give her any instructions. She didn't know what she supposed to take. Her Dad started screaming " Just hurry up." She nodded. She put back every thing. On that point she noticed her doll. It was her favourite. She decided to take it. She knew that her friends would not joke. They might taunt but then they would ignore. After all keeping on beautiful barbie with you was not crime until you didn't start playing like kid with her. She took her doll out of cupboard and kept it inside her bag. She knew that this doll would help her. She knew that if her Mom was here. She would have objected. But her Mom was not with her. She took it. Then her Dad came back in room screaming. She was so scared. But she managed to keep her face brave and smiled. She said " I am ready. But I need some money.." her Mom told her to take money when she sat in bus. Her Mom was planning to drop her to bus. Dad was going to accompany her. But now her Mom was out of picture. Her Dad managed all. She knew that getting money was hard. Dad " Why did you need money? It will be risky? Someone might rob you?" She was so panic. She was not asking for big amount. She was traveling. She wanted to do even some shopping there. She wanted some money. She was not asking for Credit card. She was just asking for cash. But on that point her mobile rang. It was her best friend Archana. Archana " What happened? Teacher just called me to tell me that you might not come. Come on we are sharing room and all. I can't stay with unknown person?" Archana was on verge of crying. " Grandmother slipped and she is in hospital." " Then why did you need to stay? You can't help Mom. Do you planning to do cooking etc..." " No..no Mom is just too scared." " Come on. You promised you will come." "Actually I am coming.." Then she slowly went out of room. She didn't want to demand borrowing before her Dad. " But I am in little trouble. Mom is in hospital. I need some cash. I will return it... " " Don't worry. My Mom will give." Rita smiled happily. " So you are coming." " Yes I am." " It is promise." " Yes it is." Then Rita packed all. Rita waited for teacher when her mobile rang. It was her Mom's call. She told it. Mom " Your grandmother is not okay." " I know. She will be fine." " No I don't think so." " But Mom I am going to trip!" " What? But I told you.." " Mom we paid for it. We can't cancel." " We can forget that money." " No we can't! Dad said so. And I promised Archana I will come." " But your grandmother is dying. She liked to see all her grandchildren for last time." "Mom she will be fine." On this moment Rita didn't care. She promised Archana so she needed to go. She knew that her Dad kept asking for money and her teacher would become upset too. She spent on trip and she needed to just go. She didn't understand why she was doing it. It supposed to be fun but it was getting stressful. " Mom I promised Archana. I can't say no now. She is without partner in trip." " But what if your Grandmother died." Rita was shocked by this line. But Rita was so upset. She felt that Mom was pretending just to stop her. She knew that stopping on that point was impossible. She couldn't cheat Archana and what about her teacher." Mom do you want me to upset my teacher?!! Dad called her and she is coming to pick me up." Mom sounded confused. Then Mom took deep breath and said " Fine go away. But remember one thing. You must not mention this call to any one." Then her Mom stopped. Mom took deep breath and said "If your grandma died you must tell all you were already gone. Okay?!" Rita was confused now. "Mom maybe I should not go." " No..no you must go. I don't want you to upset your teacher." "But what if.." " Honey you can't cure her!" " But she might want to see me!" " Honey we can't upset your teacher and let me ask doctor about her condition." Rita agreed. Then her Dad called. Rita went out. She sat in car with teacher. Her teacher didn't say anything but she was clearly upset. " Your grandmother stay alone." She nodded. " Why don't you keep nurse with her?" Rita was so confused. She knew that her Dad would never pay for it. So they couldn't ask their Uncle to keep one. He had his financial issues. He was not ready to spend so much. Teacher " Now a days people are not ready to spend on parents. Very wrong! Now it is possible that something might happen to your grandmother. She was staying alone. We don't know how long she was fallen down on floor and no one knew that she was there. She might be screaming in pain or fainted for hours." Rita shivered. She began to feel she was monster. Her entire family was monster. She wanted to cry but she didn't. She knew that it would upset her teacher more.
Rita's Mom Trupti was in hospital. Trupti knew that her husband Pratap surely managed to anger Rita's teacher. Pratap was like that. Pratap managed to hurt people without cause. He kept claiming that it was for money but she never believed it. Pratap wasted money on many things which were not needed. He had strange obsession of grabbing money from people. She didn't understand why did he needed to do it with teacher. Trupti knew that now teacher would surely get upset and it was teacher's mistake that they needed to change plan. Now she knew that this trip didn't become pleasant for her daughter. She wanted it to become success. She wanted it as source of her courage but it all went wrong. She began to feel so upset. She started moving around corridor of hospital. Nurse immediately asked her what did she want. She sensed that she was not supposed to walk around hospital like that. She might spread some infection to other patients. She said that she wanted to purchase medicine. It was part of truth. Actually she needed painkiller for herself not for her Mom. Her head was paining so much. She needed to buy something for it. She went to chemist purchased painkillers. She was so upset. She didn't understand how did she supposed to manage all. Her brother was coming tomorrow. She knew that he would take over but she knew that he would be upset too. He wanted his Mom to shift with him. But Mom couldn't able to adjust with his wife. Her sister-in-law was not bad woman. But she had her life style and her Mom couldn't stop herself from commenting. She didn't like interference. Trupti always felt that they needed to find a nurse. But her brother was not financially so secure. He had money but he had big loan to pay back for his flat then he had his kids to take of. Trupti understood his situation. Trupti just wished only if her Mom agreed to adjust with her sister-in-law. But Mom wanted her freedom. Trupti took medicine and came back to floor. She inquired. They told her that Mom was stable. She was happy that risk of death was gone. She decided to call Rita. Rita was traveling in car with teacher then she shifted in bus. Her face was so pale. Archana immediately sensed something was wrong. Archana didn't ask before her teacher but then when teacher went out of sight. She immediately asked. Rita shivered and started crying. She slowly told all. Archana " Don't worry your grandmother will be fine. Where is your mobile?" Rita started searching. She couldn't find. She began to feel she forgot it in her house. She shivered. She didn't understand where it was. She couldn't open her suitcase. She began to cry slowly. Archana then asked " What happened?" " My mobile." Archana pointed towards her pant. Archana " It is inside pocket." She smiled and took it out. She wanted to dial number but she began to feel so restless. She didn't want to cry on mobile. Archana took away mobile and said " Don't call now. Your Mom will sense you are crying." She nodded. She knew that her Mom knew everything. She was so happy that she got friend like Archana. She was so upset by every thing. Now she got one good friend who would help her. Rita " I am so upset." " I know.." Archana was talking to her when suddenly another girl called. " Archana we are starting party games do you want to play?" Then that girl looked at Rita in such way that she sensed that Rita was not wanted. Rita knew that she was not so talented. She didn't manage any victory. She needed to find way out. But before she could say anything. That girl said " I think Rita didn't like that game so she will not play. " Rita nodded. Rita didn't truly like that game since everyone blame her if they lose. She didn't want to blamed. Rita once again returned to her game on mobile. She came here since she thought Archana needed her. But now she was sitting alone. It seemed as if Archana never needed her at all. She didn't understand why did she came on this trip. It seemed just to prove that she could stay without Mom or just to prove that she didn't care for her grandmother. Then Trupti called. She took call. She was shivering with fear. But Trupti said happily " Your grandmother is out of danger. So enjoy picnic." Rita started to cry. She wanted to control herself but she couldn't. She looked around. Everyone inside bus was watching towards her. She immediately smiled and said " My grandmother is fine." Teacher said " These are tears of happiness so tension is over. Clap every one." They all clapped happily. Then they all continued their game. Trupti took deep breath and asked " Are you happy there?" " Mom this picnic is not what I hoped for. Mom I don't want to be here." " Don't worry honey. This is just matter of seven days then you will be back." " But Mom I am scared." " Don't worry. Try to find friend there. Where is Archana?" " She is with other girls playing party games." " But she was the one who insisted that you must come?" " I know Mom but now she don't care. Mom this picnic is big mistake." " It is happening because you are stressed out due to grandmother." " NO!! Mom my decision was wrong. I wished I stayed at home." Then Rita disconnected call. Trupti was so upset. Her head was paining more and more. She didn't understand what was wrong with her. She began to think that she might needed a check up. She was sick. She just wished only if her brother joined soon. She needed his help. Then her mobile rang. It was her brother Yogesh. Yogesh " I booked flight of tomorrow. I will be there by evening. What is Mom's condition?" " She is stable." " Trupti now she must shift with me. I convinced my entire family. They will not irritate her." " It is not about your family. Mom is like that on some point." Yogesh gave sad laugh. " Thanks for support. Anyway I can stay for long time since I can do work from home." Trupti said " Thank God." Then she disconnected call. She needed Yogesh with her now. It was happening.
Rita tried her best to act normal. But on every minute they kept taunting her. She didn't join party game. Then they started to dance. She danced little bit. But her rythems were not so fast so once again she was trouble in their eyes. They wanted her to sit in chair. She could sense it by their eyes. She began to return on chair but Teacher objected. Teacher " Come on dance with them! Your grandmother is fine. Don't worry." Teacher called Archana. Teacher " Archana take her with you. You are her partner on trip right?" Archana nodded. " Yes Madam." " So why don't you keep her in your company? On trip you must say in group as I told you. You must keep her with you. I don't want any one of you sitting alone." Archana " Actually she was feeling tired!" " This happening since she is tense about her grandmother. She must not sit like that it will increase her tension. I will talk with her Mom and confirm she is fine." Rita insisted. " Madam she is fine." Teacher " Yes she is! So enjoy yourself. " Rita nodded. Then she tried to dance. Everyone was upset due to her worst dancing skill. Rita finally sat back. She once again started reading her book. She began to concentrate on each page. She began to think about it. She started to read thoughts written on it. She began to learn different concepts on it. But then after some moments she sensed that her teacher was observing her. Teacher sat beside her. Teacher smiled " You don't like dancing." " No. I love books." " Great but on picnic you suppose to adjust with all. It is not right that you just kept sitting alone in corner. You must become part of group." She nodded. She was so nervous. She didn't understand why did she came on this trip. She wanted to go back. They traveled for long time. Finally they reached to destination. She was happy since now she could sit peacefully in her room. She didn't want to go on any picnic again. She kept telling her that it was for just few days. Then she could go back. As soon as she reached to hotel she began to take our her luggege. She wanted to hurry up. In this process she managed to push another girl. That girl screamed loudly. She apologized but it was useless. Teacher was angry. Teacher " Don't you have patience." " Sorry Madam. I just don't understand how did I slip!!" Teacher gave her such angry look. She understood that she did biggest mistake by coming. She kept apologising until she didn't reach to room. Then she sat on bed and started crying. She sensed that Archana was sharing room with her and it was frustrating for her. Rita smiled and said " I am so sorry. I don't want to spoil your holiday. " She was trying so hard to control her emotions. But she managed to upset Archana. Then she started to apologise. But Archana was already upset. Archana " This way you are spoiling entire trip." " I know. But you can go out with others." Archana smiled happily. It seemed as if Archana just wanted freedom. But then Archana looked nervous but teacher would get angry. Rita " But I am sick and it was not your mistake. I will explain it to teacher." Archana nodded and went away. Rita sat alone in room. She began to start TV. But then she decided that she would read something. She wanted to do something different. She looked around. She was so hungry. She knew that coming to this trip was biggest mistake. She was sitting alone in room. She could have done it in her house. She was so upset. She didn't want to cry. She didn't understand what was wrong with her. She loved nature but today she was surrounded by that nature but she was not interested in it. She just wanted to go back. That night she had restless night. She went to sleep alone. Archana was in different room. She shivered. She kept wearing more sweater and more blanket. But nothing was helping. She was shivering. She was so scared. Finally Archana came in room. She sensed that Rita was shivering. Archana felt so scared. She called teacher. They called Doctor. After checking her fever. Doctor gave her medicine. Her teacher felt so scared. She immediately called Trupti. Trupti was in hospital in her Mom's room when she received this call. She started to cry. Nurse noticed this. Nurse slowly came towards her and asked her " What happened?" " My daughter went to picnic and she is having fever there. It is too high." " Then bring her here immediately. In those hill station they didn't have proper Doctors." " But I can't go there." " Then arrange amubalance." She smiled and nodded. She called Pratap. But Pratap didn't agree. Pratap just wanted to save money. She argued but nothing helped. She started crying due to fear. She began to feel so tense. Yogesh came on that point. She told him all. Without second thought Yogesh called ambulance. She thanked him. Yogesh " Nonsense. I have suggested that Pratap as perfect husband to you. It was my mistake too. " Then they sent ambulance. Rita's fever was not reducing. Teacher was very happy when she was taken away. They admitted her to hospital. Pratap was so angry. Pratap started screaming " I am not going to give one rupee." On that point her sister-in-law spoke " Don't worry we don't even ask." Trupti was so happy. Her sister-in-law put hand on her shoulder and Pratap went away. Then Doctor checked her. Doctor gave her medicine. But Rita's fever started to reduce immediately after seeing Trupti. They were so happy. But Doctor was not satisfied. Doctor said " I feel this is mental. I feel it will be better if you start psychological treatment today otherwise it would create trouble tomorrow.." This time Yogesh didn't even asked Pratap. He started it himself. Slowly Psychiatrist told them that Rita was sent away forcibly by her Dad. She didn't want to go. She spent money but she wanted to stay back. She was tense which started Anxiety which managed to make her sick. Her fever was due to fear. Even on mention of staying away from her Mom Rita was shivering. But Trupti took Rita to many counseling sections. Slowly Rita's fear was gone. Finally Pratap thanked Trupti since when Rita wanted to take college education she needed to stay in hostel and just due to Trupti she managed it in perfect way. Rita was happy in that hostel.
