Rita’s pregnancy
Harish started to think positive about it. He began to feel that everything was very hopeful. He was teaching in school for years. But still he didn’t get that respect which he deserved. He married to a girl his parents suggested. His wife Rita was working in one private company. Rita was so skilled in talking sweetly with client that she was earning much more. She was even bringing daily gifts in home. Those gifts were very costly. Sometimes he doubted her but he never dared to say anything. Entire world told him that she was better than him. He wanted to argue but today he decided that he would accept whatever she was saying. It was complicated. But he wanted to do that. It was important for him. Something special happened between them. They decided to have baby before sometime. It was not happening for long time & yesterday she told him that she was pregnant. He was so happy. Now she belong to him. He knew that he needed to act carefully with her. He needed to respect her emotions. He knew that becoming father was not easy. He needed to give full attention to his wife. He came out with smile. Rita was sitting in corner. She was wearing dress in wrong way. She needed to wear loose dress. He thought. He didn’t like her sitting position. He felt that it was totally odd. He began to get restless. It was so strange. He was just becoming father & he didn’t have experience about anything still he felt that she was acting in wrong way. He didn’t want to taunt but when suddenly he saw her he said “ Be careful.” She gave him angry look. He just smiled. But he knew that she was upset. He tried to change subject. “ I mean now you need to be careful regarding everything.” She didn’t give any smile to him. He began to sense that she didn’t want to even talk with him. She looked away. He wanted to feel happy but she was not interested in sharing any happiness with him. He returned to room. He didn’t understand what was wrong with him. Then he heard his mobile ring. His Mom was calling him. He took call. His Mom was excited about becoming grandmother. His Mom “ I want to tell you what you suppose to do? I mean actually your wife..” she started laughing sweetly. He wanted to join her but he couldn’t. He knew that Rita was not interested in his interference. He didn’t understand what was happening. He was father of that baby. He was so sure that he was going to do everything for child. But he was not so sure now. He began to doubt that he might be not father of that baby. But it was not possible. He was father of that child. He must not doubt on his wife Rita. He smiled. He laughed with his Mom. He discussed plenty of things about that child. He didn’t know what he would have girl or boy. But he was planning for both. It was so exciting. He was feeling so stressed too. He tried to make himself happy. But he was not happy at all. He knew that Rita was not concerned about him. Rita was not even treating him like father of that child. He still needed to convince himself everything was fine. He went out again. This time Rita was talking with someone on mobile. That person was telling her about precautions. She was wearing one relaxed dress & sitting properly too. He smiled. He started to think that he was overreacting. Rita was just throwing normal tantrum. She did whatever he told. He sat beside her. She looked towards him. She looked nervous. She was about to stood up. But then her eyes met his. She gave nervous smile & sat beside her. He felt so happy. He wanted to feel happy & he was feeling it. He didn’t say anything. She didn’t speak too. He just kept watching her. He liked it but then she suddenly started talking. “ I need to take sleep.” He wanted to keep observing her but he nodded in agreement. He wanted her to feel relaxed. She went in room & he looked towards her. He knew that he didn’t need to disturb her. But he wanted to watch her so he went towards door. He slowly began to watch her from crack of door. He felt so nice. He could watch her but she didn’t sense. It was wonderful for him. He kept doing it for sometime then finally he went back to his room. He sensed that he needed to go to school . He immediately got ready. He went to school. When he entered in school, he began to watch those small kids he started to imagine his kids inside them. He was so happy. He chatted with kids & every thing became perfect for him. This school was everything to him. He was favourite in school. Every student liked him. He was famous. When he entered immediately kids started coming towards him. They had their questions. They wanted to show him what they had created. He was so happy. He came to teacher’s room. He could see jealousy in some eyes. Some teachers felt upset that he was favourite to them. He sat on his chair. Now kids didn’t enter in room. It was rule that kids must not enter in teacher’s room. Peon immediately sent them back to their class rooms. He was so happy. Other teachers began to talk with him. He was so admired in school. He knew that his salary was not large but he was happy. He wanted to earn more but it was not possible but he wanted respect & he got it in this job so he was happy about it. But he knew that he didn’t get all this in his house. Sometimes he felt only if he could have married some simple teacher. But it was not possible. He needed money to buy house which was not possible at all with less earning by wife so he decided to marry Rita. She was beautiful but he used to like another girl lot more but she didn’t have job. He needed a girl with nice job as wife. He wanted financial security. On that time his parents insisted that he needed to act practical so he didn’t propose that girl. When he proposed Rita he thought that she would reject his proposal but she accepted. He still didn’t understand why. She was not in love with him. She was very ambitious. Still she decided to marry simple person like him. He never understood reason behind her action. But he was happy to get such a nice wife. She was perfect for him. He married but now he kept feeling that it might be his wrong decision.
Rita slowly sat down on bed. She disliked him so much. She never wanted to marry him. But she didn’t have much option. She needed to hide all. She smiled & before her mobile rang again. She started talking with her sister Purva. Purva was settled in abroad. She was expecting her on at least her marriage but Purva didn’t come. She never wanted to marry Harish but her parents insisted. Her parents said “ You keep talking that Purva daily after this. You need someone who adjust with you & this Harish seemed perfect.” She knew that she was obsessed with her sister but it was not crime. She tried to argue “ But Dad I don’t like him?” Mom “ You will like him slowly. He is nice boy.” “ He is teacher of school while I am such big director of company.” Her Dad gave her angry look & asked “ So you feel noble profession like teacher is lower level than you high prestigious company job? He is doing more useful & great work than your work. He is creating new generation..” Then her father gave her big lecture on greatness of his work. She nodded & agreed. She didn’t want to marry him. But her parents forced her in it. She was so upset. Then she met Harish once again. She felt that he was okay. She didn’t need to do much to impress him. But soon she sensed that it was not true. He kept complaining about something. Like today he complained about the way she dressed. She knew that he gave her freedom too. But she didn’t like him. She wanted to get rid of him. She was already began to date one man from office but it didn’t work. One day when they were on date she saw Purva. Actually she was in hotel room when Purva was standing in hotel lobby. Purva was watching her angrily. She knew that Purva was upset since she didn’t remain honest to Harish. But Rita didn’t like Harish at all. Rita wanted someone she loved. She liked this fellow. She went to Purva. She started to explain. That man came towards her. He began to ask “ What happened?” She just said nothing. Then in room she didn’t feel okay. She decided to go home. She knew that this might had upset that man but she didn’t expected him quitting job next day. It was shocking for her. He resigned & told her that he was shifting in some other town. She tried to come near him but he kept some distance. She understood that he wanted it to be over. She had her pride so she just congratulated him. After that she never took interest in other man. She knew that it was not going to work. But she started to chat with Purva daily. Purva came to chat with her every afternoon. She knew that Purva wanted her to remain honest with Harish but she needed to confess to Purva again. She was becoming obsessed with another client. This one was married already. This man didn’t want to divorce his wife too. But she was pregnant so now it was out of question. But still she sometimes wanted to change this. She wanted to forget sometimes that she was pregnant. She forgot it totally in morning when Harish reminded it. Harish kept watching her for hours. She hated it. She knew that he was her husband she needed to permit it but she didn’t enjoy it. She was so frustrated. She needed to feel happy but she was not feeling it. She knew that her marriage was big mistake. But she couldn’t tell it to anyone. In fact she was not even sure that this child was right decision. She did it since Harish wanted it. She was feeling guilty due to her affair. She wanted to compensate & she knew that she couldn’t find another man. She forced herself to like Harish. But it was not working. She was discussing all with Purva but Purva kept telling her that she needed to act honestly with her husband. She kept waiting for Purva. Then her door bell rang. She knew that she needed to go to office but she didn’t want to. She called office & told that she would be late her sister was coming. They agreed. They agreed to all since she managed to get every client thanks to her every talent. She needed to talk with Purva. She was began to get confuse about her life. She didn’t feel sure what she supposed to do. She was trying so hard to find solutions but she couldn’t manage them. Purva came. Purva “ So how is your baby?” “ I don’t know.” “ Come on. You can sense it.” “ But I don’t want to sense it.” “ Did you went to check to Doctor?” She looked towards Purva in confusion. “ I know I am pregnant & you know it too.” Purva gave sweet smile & nodded. “ We don’t need confirmation.” “ But I don’t want it. I shouldn’t have told Harish.” “ Come on. It’s his baby isn’t it?” Suddenly Rita began to feel confused. She stopped dating that other man but then suddenly she began to feel scared. “ I don’t know.” Now Purva looked tense too. Purva “ That man ran away!” She nodded. Purva “ Now do as Harish tell you! Don’t argue with him.” She nodded. Then Purva went away. Rita wanted to tell her to stop but she knew that it was useless. Purva always went away whenever she wanted. Rita didn’t know much about Purva’s family. Her parents always kept telling her to avoid talking with her. She never understood why. But now she began to feel that it might be about Purva’s marriage. Purva might have married someone whom her parents didn’t approve. Then Purva went away. Rita got ready & went to office. Rita entered in office with full confidence. She started working as she always did. All staff was happy with her. She was energy of that office. She managed to set all in perfect way within few seconds. Luckily she never met Purva in office. In fact she told Purva never to come in office. She didn’t want to bring personal issues in office. It was so wrong. Rita was busy with work when Harish called. She took his call. Harish “ So when your gynaecologist gave you your next appointment?” “ Gynaecologist?! I never met one.” “ Then how did you know that you are pregnant?” “ I understand.” He was confused but then he thought that there were other ways. “ But now you need Gynaecologist!” She wanted to reject idea but Purva told her that she must not so she said “ You are right.” Harish “ I will ask some teacher.” She once again said “Okay.” Harish said “ Bye.” Then he disconnected call. Rita went ahead with her office work.
Harish was so tense when he knew that Rita had not visited Gynaecologist. Harish sensed from beginning that something was wrong. He knew that Rita was too influenced from her sister Purva. Once his Mom told her that he needed to reduce that influence but he never took it seriously. But now he began to think that he needed to take help of Purva to convince. Then he suddenly noticed one teacher. He told her all. That teacher looked serious. “ You need to confirm with Gynaecologist! I don’t know much about other things.” Then she gave him one name. Harish immediately took it then he called Gynaecologist & fixed appointment of evening. He knew that he needed to tell Rita but he thought that this time he would forcibly take her. He needed to insist. It was question of her life & death. It was risky for her & their child. But then he decided to call her. He told her about it. Rita didn’t look happy but she agreed. He began to feel little bit relaxed. In office Rita was feeling so tense. But she knew that she needed to go. Finally she told her colleague that she needed to go. As usual no one objected. She went out with Harish without any criticism. While Rita didn’t sense anything wrong Harish sensed angry look of entire staff. He knew that Rita’s staff wasn’t happy with her. He didn’t know reason but one day one girl told him. Rita was fine in office but she just came late & sometimes she left office without proper notice. She managed to get new clients so they managed her tantrums. He didn’t understand why did Rita needed to keep coming late. He did not insist anything in house which could cause extra work. In fact they mostly order food from outside. He didn’t ask anything. Then they went to Gynaecologist. They waited for their number. When they entered soon Harish sensed that Rita told that she was pregnant because she felt it. Harish was shocked. He was angry too. He felt cheated. Then Gynaecologist checked her. Gynaecologist told some tests but according to her guess she was not pregnant. When Gynaecologist denied it. Rita began to get upset. Rita told Gynaecologist “ Purva told me I am pregnant it can’t be wrong.” “ Who is Purva?” “ My sister!” “She is Doctor!” “ No..no but she knew all.” “ How could she know all?” Suddenly Rita lost her control & began to tell angrily “ I want to know just whose kid it is?” Gynaecologist gave her shocked look. Harish looked towards her in anger. Harish “ You are having an affair!” She nodded & said “ This is kid of that man!” Gynaecologist “ But you are not pregnant.” She began to scream “ I am pregnant.” Harish was so shocked. Gynaecologist said “ You may leave. You can go to other Doctor but I suggest Psychiatrist not Gynaecologist.” Rita began to scream loudly “ I am not mad person. Do you hear me?” She threw away files & paper from Doctor’s table. Harish was so nervous. Gynaecologist began to call her staff. He started to tell that he would take her out. But she was screaming uncontrollably. Gynaecologist immediately called some Doctor. All patients who were sitting outside started to look nervous. Gynaecologist pointed a room & told Rita to sit there with Harish. Harish forcibly took her there. On that time Rita suddenly saw Purva in that room. She ran inside. She began to hug her. Harish was watching with shock. His wife was hugging someone in empty air. No one was standing there. Harish was too scared to go near her. He suddenly understood what was going on. He remembered very well that Rita’s parents had one daughter who died in car accident at school age. But he never asked her name. He just understood since they had her picture in room. Once he asked maid. She told this to him. Then his wife was seeing ghost of her dead sister. He was so confused. He looked around. He heard that lights flicker when Ghost enter in room. But he observed nothing like that was happening. It was so shocking. He sensed that one nurse was standing there. Nurse “ Does she suffer from mental sickness?” Harish nodded negatively but he knew that he was wrong. He didn’t know about it. They were married for three years. But he never sensed that anything was wrong with her. But then he never talked much with her. He began to remind herself when she last demanded something from him. She never. She kept talking with that invisible sister. Nurse began to call Ambulance with Psychiatrist. Gynaecologist started taking remaining patients. Everyone was looking towards Rita in strange way. Gynaecologist kept telling them “ Don’t worry Doctor will come & take her to hospital.” After sometime Psychiatrist came with nurse & ward boys. Luckily Rita was so busy in talking with Purva that she didn’t protested when she was taken away. She was talking to Purva. She was concerned about child which was not existed. He sensed one thing. She had affair & that man left her. Harish was so upset. Psychiatrist took her in Ambulance. They told him to follow them. He did all as they instructed but in his mind he didn’t care. He was no longer in love with her. She cheated him. She didn’t love him. Now he even knew why did she married to him since she had this madness. He kept going ahead as they told. He finally admitted her in hospital. After it he returned home, he cried. Then he called his Mom. He told all. He decided to take Divorce. He knew that it was easy since Rita never wanted to stay with him. But she was mentally sick now. So he decided to wait. But he was scared that she might wanted to come back so he called lawyer. Then lawyer arranged all. Soon her parents confessed that she had trouble from childhood. He was kept under dark. They all agreed to divorce so he managed to get it easily. But on that night he cut himself for first time. He wanted to punish himself for loving her. He didn’t sense that it was his journey towards mental sickness or he sensed it but he couldn’t able to stop it. His life was not going to be easy but he knew that he must move ahead. Life was precious thing. He told his students many times & he didn’t want them to think he was not perfect. In his school he was still that perfect teacher every day. He kept his troubles at home. He also started to take Psychiatric treatment himself. He wanted to remain perfect teacher always.
