Anita’s husband
Anita was so excited about opening that folded paper. She was going on trip after such long time. She was a house wife who did all household things. She wanted to do job but giving birth to child slowly she forced to resign. She did all as mother but when kids became grown up. They started to feel she was just taking rest in home. She wanted to find some job but after such long break starting career was not easy. She couldn’t take small level jobs. Her husband Ravi felt that they were too low for their status. People would start to taunt him. People would began to question him why did his wife needed work like that. People would began to assume he was not earning enough. So Anita needed a job which was reputed. But she couldn’t get it. So she stayed at home. It was frustrating for her. Specially when everyone started to treat her like piece of furniture. She began to feel that she needed life. On that point she saw this group from school on social media. She immediately started to come in contact with her friends. Anita was so happy when they started talking about their life. It seemed as if she was rich than most of them. But soon she sensed that she was not so much happy. Few out of her friends were clearly dominating their husbands. It showed that their husbands loved them so much. One friend Priti said clearly “ My husband loved me so much that other things didn’t matter that much.” Anita felt strange pain in her soul. She needed happiness in her life & love. She knew that Ravi was not in love with her. He was never in love with anyone. He was just too busy. She didn’t let her mind think. She decided to control her negative feelings. On that point she suggested “ Let’s go to picnic!” All friends jumped with joy. They were all so happy. She was so sure that this would bring success in her life. She began to get nervous. She knew that just one picnic couldn’t improve her future. She started so restless. She said “ But how could we decide place?” She said it just because she wanted to drop idea. But it didn’t work. They all started to select different places. Those places were showing their dreams. She was so confused. Finally they all decided to play a game. They wrote names of places on paper & they all selected Anita to choose one paper. Anita was not permitted to write one since she was judge. She agreed willingly. She didn’t have any desire to select place so finally today she got chance to select that folded paper which would decide her destiny. She felt as if her destiny was written on that paper. She knew that this trip was going to change her life. She took out paper. It turned out near by hill station. One friend from group had farm house there. That friend screamed excitedly about her victory. She immediately started to make call for arrangements. Soon she sensed that her friends were not happy that farm house of Rucha was selected. She heard them talking against her. One friend said “ Rucha offered us to stay now then afterwards she started to complaint. She will treat as if she done favour.” Other friend “ Actually I prefer hotels than farmhouse of friends. This way we can pay & get whatever we want.” All nodded. Anita sensed that all was not going as per her thought. But then she knew that something was going to happen. She began to feel scared. She started to think what if it was something sinister. She began to imagine what if her friend decide to kill Rucha. She began to feel so helpless. She started to sense that something was wrong with atmosphere. She needed to stay away from this trip. She decided to make excuse. She said “ Actually I don’t know if my husband will permit?..” they all gave her shocked look. Priti “ Come on. Why he will not permit?..oh h he must be like my husband Tarun can’t stay one day without me.” Every one made funny sort of noises. Then Rucha said “ Don’t worry. I will come in your home with my husband one day & then we will convince him” Anita didn’t want Ravi to know that she said it. Anita started laughing & said “ I was just joking. Ravi is not that sort of husband.” They all laughed. But when Anita went home & told all this to Ravi, he immediately objected. Ravi “ Are you sure this place is safe?! I heard farm house parties have drugs, gambling & even..you know what I am saying!” She gave nervous laugh. “ No..no we are not going to party. We are just planning picnic like kids do.” He looked little confused. “ I don’t understand.” “ We will make sandwiches. Take some cold drinks sat on lawn then gossip etc.” “ Really? So you are saying no one will even bring drinks like wine, beer..” “ No..no.” Ravi started laughing. Ravi “ Come on! You can’t tell without confirmation?” She began to get nervous. She never thought with this angle. “ Actually this thought never cross my mind.” She suddenly began to feel more scared of this idea. She didn’t want to stuck with group of drunk women. But if they drank in limit & she was sure that they wouldn’t force her then what was issue for her?” She felt little confused. Ravi managed to scare her. She started to think negatively about this trip. Ravi suddenly added “ Why don’t they permit husbands?” She was nervous now. She didn’t want to introduce Ravi to her friends. Ravi was perfect in eyes of her family but she knew that her friends wouldn’t like him & if they started to appreciate him then they wouldn’t appreciate her. It was always like that. No one could appreciate them both. Ravi always taunted her. So either people disliked her for her weakness or they hate Ravi for calling her inferior. In both cases she would surely didn’t able to enjoy picnic. She suddenly began to think going to Picnic was wrong idea. She smiled & said “ I feel that Picnic was wrong idea. I will make some excuse.” Ravi “ But why don’t you take me?” “ If it will have things as you mentioned I don’t want to go.” She stood up from table & left room. She knew that her Picnic couldn’t have drugs but she was not sure about alcohol. But she knew that she could say no. But after listening to Ravi she started to see all differently. She began to feel scared that they might manage to mix something in her soft drinks. She started to feel upset by it. She began to plan how did she supposed to say no to them. She needed good excuse. She began to plan it all.
Anita was so tense for entire day. She didn’t understand what was going wrong with her life. She planned so much about this trip & now it all suddenly began to move in wrong way. She began to get restless. She started feel so upset. She was dreaming to make this picnic a changing point of her life but it seemed that it was not working. She was so frustrated by this. She needed to understand what was going on with her life. She needed to find that point where everything went wrong. She remembered that how much she used to trust her friends but now she was not so sure. She was not trusting them so much. She began to feel scared about them. She started to think that they might be criminal. She began contact with them. Now she needed to cut them. She began to search for excuses which could make it possible. She knew that she must understand those issues which were creating troubles for her. She started to feel so sad about all. She began to get restless. She started this all & now she needed to end it. She was so upset about entire incidence. She never felt so much guilty. She began to search for excuses then she suddenly found one. She would tell them that she was working from home. She smiled at this thought. She knew that no one would tell her to forget job. She opened Facebook. Then she started to type message. She knew that she was lying to entire world & it was wrong but she had no option. She typed slowly ‘ I got job.’ Soon she received lots of congratulations from everyone. She sensed that even her many relatives were reading it. She knew that she needed to increase her lie. But she had no option. Then she typed that she was not going to come on trip. She felt that her friends would argue. They typed few words expressing sorrows & then they went ahead with their plans. She decided that she would ignore them. But soon she sensed that observing posts of that group became her obsession. She wanted to know everything about them. They were planning all. She could see from where they were ordering what stuff. They included many items. She observed that it was going to be one big party. She sensed that she liked to avoid it. But then soon she understood few of her friends were not planning to drink while few planning to drink. They kept it as per their choice. She was so confused. She didn’t understand if she could trust them or she couldn’t. She didn’t understand if she was acting odd or they were doing wrong thing. She knew one thing whenever Ravi drank it was worst day for her. He kept abusing & insulting all. But then Ravi always liked to give inferiority to people nothing was new in it. She knew that she didn’t want to take risk. She kept trying to tell herself to ignore them. But she was concentrating on them whole time. She began to search for some work just to show that she got job. She got some typing assignment. It was useless. She knew that it was not going to give her much money but still she took it. She kept telling herself that everything would be fine after sometime. She knew that by pretending she was doing job. She was avoiding many troubles. But one day Ravi started to laugh on her. Ravi “ What kind of work you are doing?!” She tried to tell him convincingly that she was doing some work. But he kept laughing. Soon he called kids. They started smiling too. She sensed that even maid was smiling. From that day all started to telling her that she was not working hard. She was just sitting at home. She began to feel lonely again. She wanted to join that group but it was not possible now. She sensed that they had managed to get enough members already. Actually there were limited people could manage in that small car they had selected. They had already booked two cars. She started to sense that they didn’t want to increase number. Their first trip was success. She began to sense that they were enjoying it. She was no longer part of their group. She kept searching for them. Then sometimes she began to search for new groups. She started to chat with many people. She didn’t care who they were any more. Most of them got bored with her so she was not making any friend. She sensed that she was unwanted everywhere. She was so upset. She didn’t find someone who needed her. She began to sit in corner of room. She began to watch TV for hours. Soon those serial began to become real for her. She didn’t understand when she managed to attached herself so much to them then she started to feel they were real human. It was perfect until all was nice but then she began to feel sad when one day one character was killed. It was so strange. She began to feel that she lost her love. It was not her husband. It was husband of that lady in serial . But she began to feel as if her husband was died. It seemed as if that loving character became her husband. She started crying. When Ravi came home, he asked her. She told him entire story & started crying. Ravi laughed. He felt that it was emotional drama of few days & he didn’t need to pay much attention to it. He began to ignore it. Then she wore white dress on that day. She kept looking sad in a way as if someone was really dead. Ravi knew many women get carried away by TV characters. He decided to ignore it. On that day she didn’t talk with anyone. She kept looking out of window with sad face. She was crying for a serial character. It was common so entire family decided to ignore. They all went to sleep peacefully while she didn’t sleep entire night by memory of that sad scene. In her mind that character was her lifeline. She was dreaming many things about him & suddenly it was taken away. She didn’t want to feel upset but she was. She knew that this character was giving her positivity now it was gone. She felt as if her entire life was destroyed. She cried so much. They all were expecting her normal or at least little sad on next morning. They never thought that it was something serious.
Anita was cooking all things which were suitable for funeral next morning. She was wearing white dress. She did all which indicate as if someone was dead in house. Ravi went for jogging in morning. During his jogging many people came to him since they wanted to ask him who was dead in his house. According to them in morning Anita went to some shop in white dress all saw she was crying. He denied idea. But when he came home, he noticed that Anita was preparing for funeral. Ravi was shocked. Ravi “ What is going on?” “ I am preparing for funeral.” “ Whose?” She began to cry slowly. He began to think that someone had died actually & he didn’t know. He asked “ Who died?” She took name of character. He didn’t want to laugh any more. He sensed that she was preparing for funeral of none existed person & she really felt that this person had died. He decided to talk sweetly with her. He said “ So you are playing some game for attention..but you are not child! You need to understand that these games are not funny. Every one on road asking me about this funeral..” she cut his sentence in middle & said “ Of course. I have invited them all. Many agreed. They wanted to express sorrow too.” He was shocked by this madness. He knew that this person who played this character was healthy & alive. But still his wife was announcing one funeral for him. Ravi didn’t understand how did this fellow react? Ravi felt that he might enjoy this publicity. But Ravi was not sure. Ravi began to get tense. He didn’t know how did people would react. Ravi “ Honey these things are done normally for publicity & you are not told to do it. So you must not try this.” She gave him confused look. She said “ It is not about publicity. I feel so sad. As if love of my life died.” Tears started to fall out of her eyes. He was so shocked. Ravi didn’t understand what she was saying. He was love of her life. He was her husband & she was telling him on his face that love of her life died as if it was someone else. He was so upset. He wanted to slap her. He began to do it but then he stopped himself. He was in hall. He didn’t want anyone to see this drama. If it was their bedroom it would be different thing. He could have slapped her for saying this. A woman must remain honest to her husband otherwise she deserved beating according to him. Until now he felt that Anita was under his control. He never saw anything aggressive by her. He was so upset. He took hold of her hand & started dragging her. She kept crying while taking name of that character. It was so odd. After some time literally people started coming. Ravi wanted to stop it but he couldn’t just throw that whole crowd out. Then Anita came out. She started crying like widow. Every one joined her. Soon a reporter came there. Ravi was so angry by all this. But he didn’t understand how could he stop it. Even kids were upset. They all started to hide themselves in their own room. They closed door too. But they could hear entire drama. Soon their mobile started ringing. People were calling them. Every one was telling them to start TV. Soon Ravi started it. On TV Anita was crying for that dead Character. She began to tell that she couldn’t live without it. She started to claim that she wanted to kill herself after his death. One reporter asked “ What about your real husband & kids?” She looked confused then she said “ Ravi can remarry. He can surely get better wife than me.” Ravi sensed that it was too much. He went out. He started to drag her in room. It was big drama. Soon few people came to help him too. No one wanted Anita to try suicide. One neighbour suggested “ Let’s call Doctor otherwise she might do something to herself. She need psychiatrist.” Ravi felt so shocked when he heard it. He never thought that it was her mental disorder. He kept thinking that it was attention gaining trick. He felt strange fear. He immediately told neighbour to do it. He pushed her. Forcibly she sat on one chair. Then kids immediately told everyone to go away. At beginning they didn’t agree. But soon few Cops entered then they immediately ran away. Cops asked Ravi angrily “ Did you arrange this show without permission?” Anita began to scream loudly & cry. She started to tell that this was not show. According to her that character was everything to her. Cop looked towards Ravi with anger. But neighbour immediately told “ Sir we have called Doctor. Don’t get upset. That Doctor will take her to hospital.” Cop nodded. But then Cop gave angry look to Ravi & asked “ She was getting insane don’t you observe some signs? What kind of work you do that you are so busy that even doesn’t notice wife’s madness.” Ravi didn’t say anything. He was too busy in trying to control her. Then after sometime Psychiatrist came with Ambulance. They took away Anita. Ravi went with them. For long time he waited outside while Psychiatrist was talking with Anita. Finally nurse took Anita to some room. Psychiatrist called him inside. Psychiatrist “ You supposed to show affection to wife but you were too busy in bullying! What was her crime? Due to this attitude she began to imagine her husband in that character. She had nervous break. Does her family have history of mental sickness?” He couldn’t answer it. Actually he never discussed. Psychiatrist “ Give me number of her parent or sister! I am sure they will know better.” He nodded. Then Psychiatrist added “ Why you don’t let her go out with her friends? You were concerned or it was just bullying.” He tried to convince Psychiatrist that he was concerned. Psychiatrist smiled & said “Then why didn’t you feel ever concerned when she saw signs of depression? Why you kept taunting her about useless income she got from job? Surely concerned person doesn’t ignore these facts. Stop bullying your wife. If you make her life difficult your life will not remain easy too.” Then Psychiatrist told him that Anita would stay there for sometime. Psychiatrist didn’t tell how much. Psychiatrist said that it depend on her response to treatment.” Ravi went back home alone. Now he knew that he needed to handle all. He had maids but he was not sure that it was enough. He started to regret his mistake. But it was so hard to tell if he loved her or just wanted her to make his life comfortable even he couldn’t answer it. Still he knew one thing he needed to change his attitude if he wanted happiness in life so he decided to follow every advice of psychiatrist. He slowly started to drive back to their home.
