Adventure story. 727. Sandip's contract

                                                 Sandip's contract

Sandip was working hard to get positivity in soul. He wanted this new contract by any route. It was precious for him. He began to create hopeful dreams. Until now he managed to get every contract. It was important for him. He knew that he needed to win contract every time. He didn’t need to keep any loophole in it. He began to feel that he needed to understand different clause of contract. He started to think about them. He carefully studied every clause. It was so complicated. He wanted to feel confident. But he was scared. He told himself again & again that he would be fine but he didn’t feel that way. He needed to get every contract. He took all papers & went in that office. He entered in that office with full confidence. He was certain that he would get contract. He began to talk with staff when suddenly out of nowhere he heard one odd scream. He turned behind. There was one lady standing there. She began to scream on him. “Why did you touch my scarf?” He looked towards her with confusion. He didn’t have any scarf in his hand. Then that lady pushed him away from table. He felt so nervous. He managed to fall down on floor due to her pushing. Staff was watching entire incidence but none of them came to help him. He stood up by himself. That lady ran towards table & took away her scarf. Then she screamed on him once again “Never touch my scarf again.” He just nodded. It was so scary. He needed to act brave but he was so scared. He didn’t want to say anything to that lady. She took scarf & went away. He looked around in office. He saw some were laughing but no one was sensitive towards him. He sensed that no one was going to apologize for that incidence. He was nothing in their eyes. He didn’t do anything wrong. He didn’t even sense that scarf was there when he came near that table. But that receptionist immediately said “Are you blind? How can you ignore that scarf like that? When you see people’s valuable thing then you must stay away from it.” He began to feel that he might be wrong. He needed to be careful next time. He felt so nervous. He said “Sorry.” He started to feel like some thief. He said “I was not planning to touch it. It was by mistake.” “What if next time you took some cash or jewelry by mistake?”  He didn’t understand what he supposed to say. It was just scarf. But he decided to not argue. He just began to discuss about contract. Then he received instructions & he went ahead as per them. When after completing instructions, he came out, that lady was waiting out for him. She was wearing that scarf. He was so nervous. He didn’t understand what he supposed to do. He needed to apologize but he just wanted to run away while ignoring that lady. He decided to keep looking in mobile. But when he was about to go ahead that lady stopped him moving ahead by holding hand before him. He shivered. “I am sorry.”  That lady nodded. After that he literally ran away. When he finally came out, he could hear sound of laughing. Clearly entire office was laughing on him. He managed to look like weak & stupid. He felt so nervous. He wanted that contract but whatever happened in that office managed to scare him so much that he was no longer interested in getting contract or working for that company. But he knew that it was not optional. He was just employee of his company & his Boss wanted him to get every contract. He was getting large salary & bonus for getting them only. He needed to get this one too. When he got it, he needed to work with them until that contract didn’t get completed.

         Sandip was so frustrated when boss congratulated him on getting contract. He was certain that this lady wouldn’t give it to him. But she gave it to him. That company was worst one in his view but his Boss was admiring it so much. His Boss smiled & began to talk “Sandip until now you done great job in getting contract. But this one is miracle. Do you have any idea how important this company is?” Sandip didn’t & he was not even interested in it. Boss continued with asking for his permission. It was clear that Sandip was employee not Boss so he was not supposed to say anything. “This company is famous in world. Its boss is one lady. Kartika! She is world famous for creating great products. She used to do it for long time. But now she even got back up from famous people.” He didn’t want to think about her. He knew that lady with scarf must be Kartika. He didn’t want to connect with her. But he was so certain that she hated him. He didn’t understand how could he get this contract. He slowly looked towards Boss & said “Maybe we need to send someone more experienced for task?” Boss began to laugh. “You went to give our information. They know you & still they selected our company so they wanted you to work for them. Don’t worry everything will be fine.” He just nodded. He decided that opposing his Boss would be useless thing. He was just employee. Then his Boss selected date. Sandip nodded to it too. Sandip was so scared. But he didn’t show it to anyone. His parents were in happy & normal mood. They didn’t feel that anything was wrong. Sandip pretended that he was happy too. But he was tense. He felt that Kartika would take revenge on them. He knew that he touched her scarf. She was angry. But he didn’t let his parents guess anything. He was so scared. He got message that from next morning he should go in Kartika’s company. He couldn’t able to sleep that night. He went in that company on early morning. He tried his best to study different issues of company. Still, he knew that it was not enough. He felt so nervous. He knew that they would punish him in some way. It was going to be hard for him. When he reached to company door he sensed that he came too early. Security had not opened gates of company. He felt so nervous while standing there. He took Cab so he didn’t have option of sitting in car. He looked around. He didn’t find anything interesting. There was one restaurant but he was not planning to eat anything on that point. He wanted to remain healthy. He began to feel scared of that outside food. He needed to maintain his health. He decided that he would walk. He kept walking on road for some time. He continued watching shops one after another. He was observing each one carefully. He began to plan to purchase some things. He needed to arrange them in his office. He started to move towards shop when suddenly one car stopped before him. He looked towards car Kartika was sitting in it. He was expecting angry look but she smiled. “So, you came early?”  He nodded. She smiled & said “I can understand. You want to keep nice impression. You don’t need to worry. I have already forgotten all that incidence.” He smiled happily. She said “You can come in office now. Gate is open.” He nodded. He decided to not go for shopping. He needed to start his work.

      When Sandip went inside Kartika’s company, he immediately felt that all were laughing towards him in odd way. He didn’t like it but he knew that he couldn’t blame them. He was truly in odd position. He smiled & asked for details regarding his place of work. Then he went in that room. He began to do get ready for his presentation. He managed to do all his programming. He was sure that it would help him to do his jobs. He started to get positivity in his mind. He began to feel that he might not need to visit any more. After doing this programming he could complete contract from his company only. He was so happy. He went near Kartika’s room & knocked. “Come in!” Her voice was something different. It felt as if some ice was cutting through body when she spoke. She didn’t have affectionate touch at all. He was so stressed but he decided that he could ignore it. He slowly came in. He smiled & said “Madam I completed programing now I can do remaining work from my own company.”  She smiled. “How nice! You are so concern about my company. You have not wasted my resources for your contract. I must appreciate your dedication. I will write about it to your boss.” Sandip felt nervous. He didn’t understand if his Boss would appreciate it or get angry. She laughed. “Don’t worry. If you save my resources, I will give more contract to your company so your Boss will be happy.” He smiled nervously. He continued “I always do it for all companies. But I never thought like that before.” “You are nice & simple man who work hard. I like your work.” He was shocked when she gave him one cheque. He was not going to say no to it. But he was confused. He never got money like that before. He just said “Thanks.” & he immediately went away. He reached to his office & told all to his Boss. His Boss listened with full attention & said “That woman is very smart. She is right. You get contract due to your that attitude. People prefer readymade things.” Sandip smiled happily. He was so glad that he got everything in right way. He wanted to complete his contract & prove himself. It seemed impossible to him until now. But now it seemed possible. He was going to work in his office & did all work. He didn’t need to face Kartika every day. He was very happy in his heart. He wanted to avoid her. He finally began to feel that he was free. He started to work on his contract with full attention. He managed to do it fast. Suddenly his door knocked. He thought his tea had come. He said loudly “Come in.” He was shocked to see Kartika. She smiled gently & asked “You will not mind if I come in your office. It’s okay. Isn’t it?” He nodded. But he was not so certain. He could see her scarf. It was something which looked more real than her to him. She was pretending. He knew that she wanted to punish him but she was not doing it. She was preparing for some bigger punishment. He was certain about it. He kept observing her in odd way. He didn’t want her to sit here. He wanted to argue. But he couldn’t begin to work fast. She didn’t move or didn’t even say anything but her presence was so irritating. He kept feeling as if some negative power was around him. He tried so hard to smile & ignore but still nothing worked. He felt negativity in his heart. He wanted her to go out. But she kept sitting. He didn’t even choose to go for lunch. He decided to eat tiffin. But her food was ordered in his room too. She ate there. Then finally when office time was over, he literally said bye & ran away. She just nodded. She began to pack her things. He was so scared that she might come after him but she didn’t. He took breath of relief. He went home. Once again, he pretended that everything was fine. He talked with his parents in normal way. But they all could sense that something was not normal. He tried his best to pretend.

          When next day Sandip came, he was hoping Kartika wouldn’t come but she came. Once again, she sat before him whole time. He needed to work before her eyes. He kept working like that for long time until his contract didn’t complete. Finally, it was over. He was so happy. He smiled & declared it. Kartika didn’t look so happy. She just nodded. He was on top of the world. Finally, she was gone. He would be normal again. But as he went ahead, he sensed that it was not happening. He went home first day. He began to feel so uneasy. He kept telling himself that it was over. He knew that when she wouldn’t return. He felt scared but he felt that it would go away after sometime. Next day he went in office but whole time he kept feeling scared. He began to imagine that Kartika would come to meet him. He didn’t dare to discuss it with Boss. But after sometime Boss gave him a letter expressing gratitude towards him from Kartika. Kartika never came back but he kept looking behind his shoulder. Her fear was not vanishing from his thoughts. He slowly even began to have nightmares. Finally, his parents suggested him to visit psychiatrist. He immediately agreed. It was required thing. They didn’t have much options. He wanted to hide it all from Boss. Luckily, he was working normally in his office. His Boss didn’t need to suspect anything. When he entered in psychiatrist’s room he immediately described all. He asked “Do you feel it’s due to bullying of Kartika? I can’t able to get over her.” Psychiatrist laughed. “No. It’s not due to Kartika. It’s due to fear of getting every contract. In Kartika’s office you felt for first time fear of failure luckily you don’t suffer but Kartika become your symbol of failure in mind. Since you felt failed in her office. We need to reduce this fear. We can do it through counselling.” After that Sandip’s treatment started. He took it for few months. He didn’t fail to get contract for some years but then one day he began to fail. Boss even sent someone else instead of him but he didn’t mind. He smiled & said “I am too old for that work anyway. Let others get chance.” But on that point Sandip felt a pain in heart. He remembered Kartika’s face for moment. Then he remembered words of psychiatrist. His fear & sorrow got reduced & he joked on it. He got over obsession of winning.
