Rasika’s beauty
Rasika was watching mirror. She was looking towards her face with full confidence. She was so happy. She knew that she was beautiful & young. But on that time suddenly her daughter Rucha started pushing her back. She felt so upset. She wanted to look in mirror. She started to feel that she was far away from mirror. She needed to get near it. She wanted to watch herself carefully but Rucha kept pushing her back. Rasika hit her on back with intention to send her away. But Rucha didn’t give up. Rucha had tears in her eyes. Rucha screamed “ Mom why did you hit me? I was just watching myself in mirror.” “ Since I was watching myself. You don’t need to come before me. You can watch yourself when I am not in room.” Rucha didn’t argued. Rucha just left room. Rucha went back in hall. Rucha never understood why her Mom treated her like that. She was nice girl. She didn’t disobey her Mom. But her Mom kept pushing her away. She knew that she couldn’t complaint to anyone. Her Dad didn’t love her since her brother Tarun was born. He was just after his son. She sensed that no one really cared for her. She was so sad. She was hoping that her Mom would like her. But her Mom kept watching herself. She saw her Mom was bringing lots of makeup for herself. She never saw her Mom doing it so much. But now a days her Mom kept doing it. She didn’t understand why. She knew that her Mom loved looking beautiful but her Mom was already beautiful. She didn’t understand why her Mom did sense it. Her Mom kept doing makeup again & again to retain her beauty. She didn’t understand why for her Mom make up was so important. She kept waiting for her Mom. She wanted to play with her Mom. She went before mirror just to act like her Mom. She wanted to show her Mom that she was just like her. Rasika was doing make up for hours before mirror. Rasika didn’t care how much time was gone. She just wanted to look great. She wanted to look like her old self. She didn’t understand why she was getting so bothered. She suddenly remembered how did she hit Rucha. She began to feel guilty. She didn’t acted in right way. She knew that it was wrong. She tried to control her anger. But it was not working. She knew that Rucha was upset after birth of her brother. Rucha was feeling neglected which was true too. They were all paying attention just to her brother. He was favourite to them all. They never thought about her. They always kept thinking about him. They didn’t care for girl. She was so tense regarding impact on Rucha. Rasika wanted to give happiness to Rucha. She went near Rucha. She saw that Rucha was already sleeping. She felt so tense & restless. She began to feel so sad. She needed to act nicely with Rucha. She slowly patted on cheeks of Rucha & kissed her. Rucha suddenly opened her eyes. Rasika was expecting happiness in Rucha’s eyes but she noticed fear. Rucha “ What happened Mom? I done nothing.” Rasika nodded. She took her in arms & said “ Sorry. I got angry with you.” Rucha nodded. But Rucha didn’t wanted to stay in her arms. She sensed that her daughter was no longer attached to her. Rasika knew that now a days she kept getting angry on Rucha again & again. It was leading to lot of trouble. But she was getting angry time to time . She started to hurt Rucha more. She slowly let Rucha go. She decided to tell Rucha all. “ Honey I know Mom is getting angry again & again. But Mom need to look beautiful!” Rucha looked confused. Rucha “ But Mom you are already beautiful.” Rasika smiled. She knew for her daughter she was beautiful but she couldn’t say it about world. She knew that her husband was wandering with different types of girls. She knew that he might be dating them. At least she heard those rumours. She was not sure that they were true but she felt so scared. She didn’t understand how could she explain this to her small daughter. She just smiled & said “ But I need to keep it up.” She felt so tensed. She didn’t understand her feelings. She needed her daughter Rucha to feel happy. But she kept screaming on her time to time. She tried so hard to control her anger but it was not working. She knew that she needed to look beautiful. She started to feel this after one party. One day she was standing in one corner. Her husband was dancing with other lady. She heard people whispering. One person said “ Why that man is not dancing with his wife?” She didn’t understand if they noticed her & said it with intention or they didn’t sense she was behind but they kept talking. “ Actually his wife is little overweight. If woman doesn’t look perfect man start to look around it is obvious.” She looked towards herself. They were right. She was getting overweight. Then other man added “ & she is not that much beautiful too.” “ Yes look at that lady. She is perfect! If someone get chance to dance with her then they will surely dance with her not with a lady who is not beautiful just because she is wife.” She was so upset. She just went in far away corner of room. She didn’t want to cry but it was hard to control tears. She was so scared that someone might observe her. She tried her best to pretend she was happy. She kept smiling. But from that day she began to feel that her beauty was most precious thing for her. Her husband wouldn’t pay attention if she was not beautiful. She started trying different make ups. It really worked. All started to admire her. But she needed to practice a lot before mirror to get it rightly. She needed to ignore other things. Rucha was important but she also needed to keep her husband attracted to her. She didn’t want divorce. She had two kids & she saw many men getting divorce this way. She wanted to stay married. She knew that she couldn’t explain this to Rucha. She just smiled & said “ Rucha I am so happy that you feel I am beautiful.” “ But you are! You are most beautiful lady of this world.” She started laughing. Rucha joined her too. Then Rucha hugged her. Rasika didn’t feel like most beautiful lady on earth but she felt like most lucky lady on earth. She smiled out of tears. She didn’t understand why she was crying after all everything was perfect.
Rasika’s son Rohit was sleeping peacefully in his room. For Rohit life was just easy game. He could scream & get whatever he wanted. Rohit was playing with his toys but it was not enough. He wanted more entertainment. He didn’t understand what he could do. Then he suddenly remembered how did he once climbed on Rucha’s back. She screamed but he enjoyed. Their Dad even clapped with guests. It was entertaining. He decided to do that but then he remembered how did Mom slapped afterward. He decided that it was bad idea. But he needed to do something for entertainment. On that point he noticed his Dad’s purse. He knew with that purse he could get anything he wanted. He needed one ball. He decided that he would take money. He just took it & went away. Rucha was watching it all. She began to think that it was wrong. She decided to tell her Dad. Rucha saw Dad coming. Rucha ran towards him. Immediately her Dad gave her angry look. She began to feel scared. Slowly she told him “ Dad Rohit took some money out of your purse.” Her Dad gave her angry look. “ So!?” She gave weak smile & said “ Nothing!” But soon she sensed that it was took late. Her Dad started abusing her & calling her Mom. She was so scared. She wanted to control her tears but she couldn’t. She started to shiver like leaf. She was feeling so unsteady & tense. She was so scared. She needed some help. Then Rasika came in room. She saw that Rucha was shivering. She was so tense. She didn’t like the way Rucha was shivering. She ran towards her & took her in arms. But her husband screamed on her “What the hell you are doing? Stupid fat woman. Your head is as fat as your body.” She was so shocked. She didn’t understand what she supposed to say. She looked towards herself. She thought that she reduced weight. But clearly it was not enough. She felt so sad. “ Your daughter was telling that her brother was stealing money!” Rucha was so shocked. Rucha “ Dad I was not saying that..I was just..” “ You were saying same thing shame on you.” Then Rasika hit Rucha hard. Rucha began to feel so sick. Rucha ran in toilet. Rucha just shut door & sat inside. Rucha didn’t want to come out. Then Rucha’s Dad screamed “ Let her lock herself in toilet. She need to learn how to behave. Her jealousy is crossing limits.” Rasika didn’t say anything but slowly she began to understood what happened. Rohit took money from pocket & Rucha told it. Rasika wanted to ask her husband did Rohit took permission but she didn’t. She knew that if she tried to say anything against Rohit. Rucha would suffer. Rucha kept crying in toilet for long time. Rasika was outside. Rasika kept consoling her for hours. She was getting upset. She didn’t like this. Finally after long time Rucha came out. Rucha hugged her & started crying. “ Mom I just told the truth.” “ Just don’t tell anything about Rohit. Let him do whatever he want just stay away.” Rucha nodded. After this incidence Rucha began to avoid Rohit. Rohit was always enjoyed full freedom. But it was getting too much sometimes. Rucha took some pillow then immediately Rohit started to ask for it. Rucha forced to give that pillow since she didn’t want argument. But Rasika was not happy about it. She began to get restless. She started to sense so much anger building inside her. She kept controlling her. She began to do makeup & started to watch her face whenever she get angry. She didn’t understand what was wrong with her face. She wanted to look most beautiful. She started to feel that all her troubles started since she was not beautiful. She began to feel so happy when she apply makeup. Rucha was watching Rasika doing make up again & again. She didn’t it few times. Then slowly time increased. She began to apply many times. Rucha kept watching lipstick changed on hourly basis by her Mom. She was watching how did her Dad kept ignoring Mom. Rohit was favourite to Dad & Rohit was taking advantage of it on every point. Rasika could see it. But if she went to scold him immediately her husband started supporting Rohit. He began to taunt her before Rohit. She was so frustrated. She decided that she needed to visit beauty parlour. She felt that she needed to make herself most beautiful. She began to find different ways to increase her beauty. She started to arrange all. She looked in mirror. She sensed that her skin began to develop different marks. Those marks were so painful. She started to look as if something wrong. It might lead to infection. She needed to do treatment on her skin. She felt so scared. She didn’t understand why her skin was suffering. She could see different effects on skin. She didn’t understand why her skin started to give effect. She was doing different makeup daily. She was changing lipsticks hourly. She was looking different on each hour with makeup. She was looking different with each touch of makeup. She was looking so nice on each day. Those looks were having different impact on her life. She was so happy after seeing them. But now her skin was getting irritated. She was not still as beautiful as she wanted. She decided to go to beauty parlour any way. She was so happy when she saw the way they were doing makeups. They all were looking so great & perfect. She began to think that she could start to look better if she could do this makeup. She smiled happily at that thought. She asked a lady who came towards her & inquired what did she want that she wanted to look like one lady. That lady was woman in twenties so young & beautiful. She wanted to look just like her. That beautician nodded. They offered her chair. She sat before mirror. She was looking inside mirror. She was looking so old & fat. She began to feel that she needed to do something about it. Then she looked towards that young lady & she closed her eyes with hope that after makeup. She could look just like that young lady. She decided to do all that was needed for it was just perfect makeup & hair style.
Rasika was in beauty parlour while Rucha was in home. Rucha was sitting in room. She was playing with dolls. She didn’t look towards Rohit. She knew that he might do something which would look wrong but if she told about it then everyone would start blaming her. She just kept playing with dolls. She knew that her Mom supposed to pay attention to Rohit but her Mom went away while telling cook to pay attention. That cook stayed until she didn’t cook their lunch. Then that cook went away to another house where she was supposed to cook. Rucha didn’t understand why Rasika was so late. Rasika supposed to sense that cook couldn’t babysit them for hours free. Rasika was housewife so there was never question of babysitters came. Her Dad wanted her Mom to do at least job of taking care of kids. Every day she saw that how did her Dad kept berating her Mom. She was feeling that her Mom was getting upset by it. Rasika was feeling so sad. Rucha knew sometimes Rasika hit her in anger but still Rucha could see her love in her eyes. Rucha didn’t want Mom to get blamed so she asked sweetly to Rohit “ What are you doing?” Rohit screamed on her “ You can’t question me. I am boy. I am better than you.” Rucha looked nervous. She didn’t say anything. She kept waiting for Mom. Then soon she saw that Rohit was going out with few boys. She didn’t like them. She wanted to object but no one was there & she was just girl so if she told anything against boy it would be crime in her father’s eyes. She was so confused. She kept waiting for Rasika. But Rasika didn’t appear. Rucha didn’t understand what she supposed to do. She just kept playing with dolls. She was so scared. Rasika finally opened her eyes. Her makeup & hairdo was just like that lady but she was looking like her mother. She wanted to cry. She began to pretend & smile. She sensed one thing that she couldn’t bring back her youth. She didn’t understand why she tried this. She thanked them & returned home. When she reached there, Rucha immediately ran to her. Rucha knew that her Mom wouldn’t hit her if she complaint about Rohit. Rucha began to talk “ Mom Rohit..” Rasika hit Rucha on back without hearing what she was saying. “ So you are complaining about your brother again?!” Rucha felt so shocked. She didn’t expecting this from Mom. Rucha just took her doll & started playing with her. It was first time on that day when her Doll spoke with her. Rucha looked towards her Doll. She was so shocked. She knew that Doll couldn’t spoke. But this Doll told her that she was magical. She began to speak with Doll. That Doll was so nice & pleasant at beginning. She laughed with her. But she felt scared when she sensed that someone might notice them. She loved her Doll. She started to take that Doll everywhere. At beginning she felt scared that her Dad might object but no one paid attention to her. She started to carry her everywhere. Rasika was just trying to concentrate on makeup in mirror when one day she noticed that Rucha was standing behind her while holding her Doll in strange way. On that day Doll talked in different style first time with Rucha. Rucha threw her away & ran in room. Rasika saw it & ran after Rucha. She asked Rucha “ What happened?” Rasika didn’t understand that strange feeling of Rucha’s eyes. It seemed as if Rucha was haunted by some ghost. Then Rucha told her “ This Doll is magical. She talk.” Rasika took that Doll in her hand. She heard about ghosts in Doll. But this Doll didn’t seem special. But then Rasika started to look in her eyes. She began to see that strange shine too. That Doll was evil. Rasika took that Doll away. She decided to throw it in dustbin. She was about to do it when watchman stopped her. “ Madam you can’t throw Doll in it today. It is already full.” She observed that Dustbin didn’t have space. She forced to took Doll back. She locked that Doll in cupboard. She was so scared. Then after sometime she started to feel relaxed. She saw that a Doll didn’t come out. Until she didn’t see that Doll in hall, she screamed with fear. But her husband came out & asked her “ What happened?” She immediately told him all. He gave her angry look & said “ You need mental treatment & your daughter too! I throw away that Doll from cupboard. It is my cupboard not cupboard of kids. Why did you put it there?” She tried to explain but she knew that it was useless. He had already form opinion that they were mad. After it every day he started pointing towards Rucha’s Doll. Rucha didn’t want to throw it away. Finally one day Rucha even managed to take that Doll in school. Rucha knew that Doll was telling her to do wrong. That day Doll was telling her to break Mom’s mirror. Today Doll told her to take her school every day. She did it. But suddenly when she was observing it teacher came. She was caught red handed playing with Doll. She was taken in principle office when she told teacher how did Doll forced her. Principal called Rasika. Rasika was advised to visit psychiatrist. Rasika didn’t understand what she supposed to do. Rasika was still feeling that Doll was truly evil Doll. But she took appointment of psychiatrist. Then she started visiting Psychiatrist. Psychiatrist asked about her skin. She slowly began to tell how did she needed to do make up. Psychiatrist recommended treatment for her mental health too. She denied at beginning but she agreed after sometime. Then treatment of both began. Slowly Rucha stopped talking Doll & Rasika stopped doing makeup. They began to built world for them both. Now they didn’t care about other’s opinions. One day finally Rohit was caught red handed smoking cigarettes. He was just school boy. On that day Rasika’s husband screamed on his son for first time. But they didn’t interfere. Rasika permitted her husband to handle all. Since he had created this mess he must handle it. He tried to drag Rasika & even blamed her. But Rasika didn’t react or got upset. Her psychiatrist taught her how to handle this. Finally after this Rasika’s husband stopped supporting Rohit & their troubles reduced little bit. They learnt one thing from Psychiatrist world might consider them low but that didn’t mean they were low. They must not consider themselves low. That convincing gave them new life. They didn’t feel inferior by other’s comments now since they knew that world couldn’t decide their value. They needed to decide it themselves & they valued themselves as precious jewel. Since God gifted them with life which was precious.
