Arpita's betrayal
Arpita was working for hours. She did all exactly as they told. She was working in this office for ten years. She did her job perfectly. She never chatted much with anyone. She preferred her privacy that was lifestyle of Arpita. She hated to permit anyone in her private circle. She always liked to remain in her world & keep working. She didn’t like anyone trying to enter in it. She was arranging all when her Boss Rakesh came. Rakesh “ Today we are going to find another help. You are working so hard for so many years & number of clients was increasing we need some help.” Now Arpita didn’t want anyone around her. She didn’t like this idea. So she said “ I am doing all happily.” Rakesh laughed & said “Don’t worry. I will not cut your salary this assistant would just help you.” Arpita smiled. But in her heart Arpita knew that this indicated interference in her work. She knew that this would cause trouble. It always caused trouble for her. It was so upsetting. She didn’t understand cause but she knew that she would be troubled. She just smiled & declared that she didn’t want any assistant once again. Rakesh didn’t say anything but he didn’t like her opinion. His eyes told it. Rakesh “ You are not smart enough to understand when you get help you must take it. Why you want to object assistant?” She didn’t say anything. Rakesh “ From first day I saw that you avoid people. That’s your big problem. Why did you keep avoiding people?” She didn’t say anything. From childhood many people told her that was her issue. She didn’t like to mix with people so she immediately felt nervous. Rakesh continued “ You need to accommodate other people in your life too. Look towards you.” She felt so nervous. “ You look so lonely & lost. You need to understand life have positive sides. You always feel so negative.” She didn’t say anything. She just kept nodding. Rakesh kept lecturing her. “ You are not normal. Normal people enjoy life go to parties. They don’t like to be alone.” She felt so sad. She knew that she was going to cry but she controlled her tears. She smiled & said “ I think I can have one assistant. After all I am not going to lose anything.” Rakesh smiled. She worked hard as she always did & went home. In her home her son Raju was waiting for her. As always she was late so babysitter left him alone. She didn’t like when this happened but babysitter had her hours & Raju was in fifth grade so he was grown up kid now according to babysitter. Her husband Subhash was going to come more late. This was totally normal for his work schedule. They were staying in rented house & they needed to purchase one so they needed all increments which they could manage. It was so upsetting for their budget if she would lose some money. She opened door Raju immediately came running in her arms. Raju didn’t like babysitter. Babysitter was harsh towards him. Clearly doing it just for money babysitter didn’t have any emotions towards kids. Raju “ Mom I was waiting for you.” “ Yes Sweetie Mom was stuck in traffic.” Raju nodded. “ I wish only if we become rich & you can stay at home like that Auntie from upstairs.” She laughed. “ That Auntie is landlord & we are just tenants.” Raju didn’t like that idea. “ When we will become landlord Mom?” “ We will not become landlord we will just become owner of house when Mom & Dad save enough money. Then we will shift in nice house but we can’t own entire building to keep tenants.” Raju nodded. “ Whatever? But when will it happen?” Now Arpita wasn’t sure about it. She just smiled & changed subject. “ So what do you want for dinner? You must be hungry!” Even when she was totally tired still she cooked special dinner for Raju every day. Of course nothing costly something that was possible in their budget. Raju was good boy. He never demanded too costly things but he was always excited about it so he immediately began to tell what he wanted. Then she began to cook in kitchen while Raju was doing his schoolwork. She was so happy that her son did all his studies properly she never heard complaint about him from school. She was glad about her positivity in her life. Subhash was nice & gentle man too. She knew that how hard he was trying to built a house. They needed a beautiful house for her family. It would be pleasant one. She wanted to live happily in her house. She was hoping one day she would buy one. She knew building house & becoming landlord was impossible dream. She was lucky to even able to buy one small flat. She looked around. This rental house was nice large one. But actual house they purchased couldn’t be such big. Sometimes she felt that they might be better in rental house. They would keep house they could purchase for Raju. She began to cook what her son like. Raju was smiling too. Raju loved it when his Mom did cooking & he sat nearby. She knew that Raju wanted her in home. Sometimes she just wished only if she could manage to do it. But she couldn’t. She began to feel so happy when she started cooking. She loved her office work. But she felt that she was in heaven when she was cooking in kitchen. On that point Subhash came home. Now her heaven was complete. She was so happy. Soon entire atmosphere of kitchen changed. They started laughing & enjoying. She kept smiling. She was on top of the world her entire exhaustion of day vanished in minutes. Her life was perfect now. She was feeling so hopeful & her life was so pleasant. She served dinner. Then they ate together after that they played with Raju until he didn’t sleep then they took Raju on his bed. Raju fall asleep quickly as he always did. It was so nice for them. Now she spent some quality time with Subhash. This was precious moments for her. She wanted happy life & she could manage to get it. She just needed to adjust with new assistant. She decided to share all with Subhash. Subhash listened & laughed. “ Come on you get scared easily like Rabbit. Just use that assistant & come home early. Raju miss you so much.” After hearing his line she felt so sure that everything was fine. She nodded & decided to go ahead with positivity.
Next day Arpita went back to job. With Rakesh there was another man. She smiled but she was nervous. She wasn’t expecting one assistant so soon. Then Rakesh introduced “ This is Chetan. He will help you.” She nodded nervously. Then she began to work. She didn’t want to talk much with Chetan. But Chetan immediately stood by her. Chetan “ You must teach me work. That’s your duty as senior. Boss told me you will do that.” She didn’t like his tone. But she didn’t want to feel upset. She needed positivity in her life. She smiled & said “ Yes..I will do it but I needed to finish half done work first.” “ Ohh..” then Chetan sat observing her. She felt so uncomfortable that she left her work half done. She said “ I will explain you your work on that computer.” She pointed computer. Chetan immediately corrected her “ Your work. I am just helping. You are getting salary for it.” She didn’t understand his meaning. He was surely receiving salary too. But she didn’t want to argue. It was so odd that he was behaving this way. Still she explained & retuned to her work. She immediately sensed that her life was no longer easy since soon Rakesh came. Chetan began to talk with him nicely. Chetan started to receive admiration for his work. She wasn’t so skilled according to Rakesh any more. Rakesh “ I wanted more person. Skill is needed in this office.” She sensed that it was pointed towards her. Until today she felt that she was capable but now she began to doubt her capabilities. Rakesh looked towards her in different way. She began to sense that Chetan was employed since she wasn’t needed any more. She was shocked. She didn’t understand her mistake. She did her best but still it wasn’t enough. Her life was not moving in hopeful way. She was feeling like burden in office. She didn’t want to work any more. She could see looks that Chetan was giving her. It was telling her that she was most unwanted thing of office. She kept doing her work. In sometime her work was over. She began to do next file. She was doing in her faster way. She knew that in sometime she would complete many important files. She totally forgot one which she had given to Chetan. She didn’t noticed that Chetan took it to Rakesh & he was getting admired for work on time. She completed all then she went to Rakesh. Rakesh “ You are so slow. Chetan already done it.” “ Sir I completed all.” “ Now that is not way to talk with Boss.” “ Sorry Sir.” She just stood in corner while Rakesh kept talking to Chetan explaining Chetan about all clients. It was clear that she was just supposed to stand. Then Rakesh turned to her & said “ I hope you will assist Chetan properly.” She nodded & Chetan started laughing loudly. She knew her situation was changed. She didn’t mind insult. It was hurting but in her mind she just wanted to concentrate on her salary. She wanted it. She suddenly began to feel that this way her salary might get reduced too. It was so painful. She didn’t understand what she supposed to say. She just went out of her room. She tried to work but she couldn’t able to concentrate. Her brain began to feel strange. Still she tried to write but she suddenly began to keep typing just one Alphabet. It kept appearing on computer continuously. She didn’t want to change it. Then she suddenly understood that she was just typing “P”. She shivered with fear. She didn’t want that memory. She knew that he was gone from his life & he left her. She felt so scared. She didn’t want to remember him. She never remembered him until now. She knew that Subhash didn’t like mention of his name. She didn’t want to hear it too. She was so frustrated when her hand started typing. He felt her. He was rich & she wasn’t. Her father didn’t have money so he decided to break marriage with her. No..no she didn’t remember him. She closed her eyes. She tried hard to concentrate. She took deep breath. Then she suddenly heard voice. “ My God are you sleeping before computer!” She opened her eyes looked towards Chetan & said in control voice “ This is eye exercise after working for hours on computer.” She wanted to feel relaxed. But she was feeling so angry. Chetan didn’t see to mind her anger. He just laughed & went away. She needed to work for salary. But she didn’t understand why she kept thinking about a man who cheated her. Subhash was her love. She loved him but still she kept seeing name of Pradip. She was feeling so sad. She concentrated on her work & started doing it. She went back home. Raju was waiting for her. She wanted to enter in that world. But she felt odd tension. She asked him “ What do you like to eat?” Her voice came so dry. She could see fear & sorrow in Raju’s eyes. She didn’t want him to suffer. She knew that it wasn’t her mistake that her office life was getting worst. She smiled. Raju gave her smile too. Then slowly she picked up Raju. She was patting him. He looked relaxed. Then he told her what he wanted. She began to cook. Once again she entered in that world. She was feeling positive. She needed that sweet & pleasant smell. She smiled. Then Subhash came in kitchen. He was early from work. She smiled but she was nervous & guilty. She kept typing Pradip. She didn’t understand why. She began to feel that she was cheating on her husband. She controlled her tears. On that day she pretended her best. They all looked happy & convinced. But that day Raju didn’t fall asleep on usual time. She began to sense that all wasn’t normal. Subhash was watching her in different way. She began to get nervous. She started to shiver. She wanted to control her shivering but she could. Subhash immediately took her temperature. He said “ My God you have fever.” Raju “ I bring medicines.” Subhash immediately brought glass of water. Raju brought box of medicines. She took one & went to sleep. She felt so lucky that she was not needed to talk. Subhash felt that all her nervousness was due to fever. She felt that it might be just due to fever. She thought that way & then she went to sleep peacefully.
Subhash was checking Arpita’s fever. It wasn’t increasing. It was stuck on that point. He didn’t even felt sure that she was had fever. He just checked temperature with hand. He knew that he needed to check properly but she was shivering so much. He felt so scared that he forgot everything. He told himself to relax. He didn’t understand what was happening to Arpita. When he married to her, she was heart broken due to Pradip. But then she went over him. He knew that she was happy. He was so angry when he thought that she was still thinking about Pradip. On that point she spoke that name. She said “ Pradip..” in her sleepy voice. He was so angry. He didn’t want to abuse her. He just decided to go out of room. He was so upset. He needed someone immediately his Mom came in his mind. He decided to call her. He didn’t understand what he supposed to do. He might needed to just Divorce her. But he couldn’t leave Raju. They had one son. Then suddenly one worst thought came in his mind. He began to think that she might be dating that Pradip behind her back. It was so painful. He wanted to kill himself. He couldn’t face world. He wanted to ask her questions. He decided to skip calling his Mom & he just went inside. He wanted to ask but he didn’t understand what he would do if she confessed. But he knew that he needed to ask. He started to waking her up. She slowly woke up. “ Are you dating Pradip?” She looked confused. She said “ I don’t know even if he is alive or dead! Why you think like that?” “ Why did you took his name in sleep then?” She was so shocked. She started crying. She slowly told him all. “ I don’t understand. What’s wrong with me?” “ Maybe you are still hurt by his betrayal? You are still remembering those sad memories!” “ But why? Suddenly after so many years? Am I losing my mind? I mean some people began to forget present then slowly began to forget all.” Then she looked towards him & said “ Now you will consider me dishonest & disgusting. You will dessert me.” Then she started crying in strange way. He was so scared. Raju came running in room. He screamed on Raju “ Go away. Stay in your room. Your Mom is fine.” Raju didn’t go. Raju began to look angrily towards him. Subhash controlled his feelings & said “ We can’t take her to Doctor in middle of night. We can do it in morning.” But Subhash was scared to wait. “ We can take her to hospital.” Subhash felt confused. He knew that Doctor wasn’t going to take his call so hospital was better option. But Subhash didn’t know much about hospital. He was so confused. She was starting to get breathless. Subhash immediately called Security with hope to find number of hospital. Security called Landlord who knew one hospital. Immediately he made call. Then they waited with patience. Landlord's wife also came running. Their neighbours also came. Finally Ambulance came. Raju needed to stay at home alone. Their neighbour told Subhash that they would keep watch since Raju didn’t want to sleep in neighbour’s home. Raju went in his room. He closed his eyes & pretended that he was sleeping until that neighbours didn’t left. They discussed for long time that some adult needed for Raju. Soon Raju heard his Grandmother was coming. He took breath of relief. He needed his Grandmother. She was much nice angel. He waited with patience for her while Subhash was running around in hospital. He didn’t understand what was wrong with his wife. He slowly told all to Doctor. Doctor asked angrily “ You are not telling cause of anxiety? Did you had argument?” He slowly nodded. “ Tell me about it.” He didn’t want to hide anything any more. He began to tell all. Doctor said “ She have very high Blood Pressure. We start medicine for it. Her heart beats are also abnormal but I feel we can manage to make them normal with treatment. She needed to stay in hospital for sometime.” He nodded. But he was tense. He called his Mom & hoped that she would come soon. So he needed to stay in hospital. When Subhash’s Mom reached to his house, it was nearly midnight. She didn’t mind. She was concerned about her son’s family. She knew that something was wrong. She went towards flat & rang doorbell. No one opened door. On that point security came running towards her. “ Are you Mom of Subhash Sir?” She smiled sweetly & nodded. Immediately Security opened door & told her all about ambulance & hospital. She nodded but she knew that there was more. She went inside. She called Raju slowly. Immediately he came out running in her arms. Raju told her all. Raju heard all argument between his parents. “ My Mom didn’t cheat Dad!” “ No..no it happened since she was sick.” Raju nodded. Then he slowly slept in her arms. Then Subhash’s Mom called him. “ I heard all. I fear she needed psychiatrist. She couldn’t be in love with Pradip & if she was then it isn’t love it’s mental issue.” Subhash suddenly felt so relaxed. He knew that his Mom could correct all. He said slowly “ Mom I screamed on her I was so jealous.” “ Now just find psychiatrist.” Next day Subhash asked Doctor about Psychiatrist. Doctor told him about one. Subhash immediately took appointment. He wanted to discuss all. He went on that time. Instead of telling Arpita he wanted treatment for himself. He was feeling so suicidal. He went inside & he immediately told everything to Psychiatrist. “ I don’t understand what I supposed to do? I can’t live like that why she didn’t love me?” “ Let me talk with her.” “ She is in hospital.” “ & I am doctor so I can talk with her & her doctor.” Then they went near ICU. Psychiatrist went inside & came out. “ I don’t feel it’s about your love I feel it’s about her job. I want you to inform her employer. She had heart attack so can’t come on job. If he didn’t give this month salary say okay.” Subhash immediately did it. Rakesh sounded angry. Rakesh “ I send a letter to fire her from job on email. She is doing drama since she is jealous of Chetan.” Subhash controlled anger & said “ Fine.” Then he waited for email. Finally he got it. He smiled. He said “ We wanted house but now I want just her happy & smiling again,” after sometime she got discharged. Subhash told her that she lost her job. She began to feel stressed but he said “ Raju need you at home more than house & by retirement I will manage one house. Don’t worry.” She nodded. After getting better she took treatment but she never went on job. That job created worst impact on her. But Subhash didn’t complaint. He didn’t want Pradip’s name to enter in his life. He knew that Pradip represented betrayal so when Rakesh started betraying Arpita in work place. She remembered Pradip. He didn’t want any fraud in his wife’s life. They learnt to live happily in less money with rental house. One day they dreamt to buy one. They didn’t got money but they got happiness.
