Step Mom
Shruti always loved mystery of darkness which was her attraction.Normally people loved lights but Shruti loved darkness.She knew that she had something special in this liking.Shruti and her love of darkness was famous in her friend.In her each and every overnight party her parents set some thing which create a mysterious atmosphere.It was always a horror or thriller party.Those who were afraid of darkness and horror were advised to avoid her parties so when Shruti decided to organise a party for her husband Ravi she thought mystery and darkness were must.She arranged it in such way as if it was in some old castle there was mysterious effect in it.She told all her friends to dress accordingly.She was sure that some guest would dress in normal way.But at least some would dress as she requested.There was no thing horror in it.Just mysterious old fashion dresses which increased spice in atmosphere.She arranged candles and dim lights to make it romantic.All her guest started arriving they all were admiring her arrangement.She was so happy when she saw appreciation in each person's eyes.She thought that Ravi would love it.Ravi was sadly late that day.She was so angry with his boss because he forced Ravi to complete all his work.After all it was his birthday.But his boss was just interested in completing his work.Ravi's feeling didn't matter in his eyes so Ravi had to stop.Shruti just wished Ravi could find a better job.But it was just her daydream.She was waiting for Ravi the guest of honour to come and tell her that she did the best.
The party was in full swing when Shruti heard noise of Ravi's car,she was so happy.Finally she saw Ravi came out of his car and when he entered they all screamed happy birthday to him.Ravi smiled and started enjoying.That moment he noticed his son was missing from party.Ravi was very upset,Ravi"Shruti where is Sunil?"Shruti suddenly noticed that her stepson was missing.She didn't know what did she suppose to do now.Sunil hated her from his heart.He didn't say it on face.But it was clearly written in his eyes so Shruti mostly avoided talking to him.During preparation of this party.She personally asked for his advice.But he didn't seem such interested so she decided to let him be on his own.Now he was suddenly missing from party and making everything worst for her.Shruti expected that at least he should stay at party and show some respect to her.But he had decided to insult her in every possible way.Ravi"So you don't seem to be interested in him."Shruti"I told him to stay and help.But he didn't want to.Why did you always blame me for everything?""Because you are the elder person and you suppose to understand.For god sake you are his mother.Don't you feel responsible?""I am trying hard to understand him.But he is not responding.""He will not cooperate.You have to find a source."Shruti was on verge of tears all guests were observing their argument.She wished that she could just vanish in air.Shruti"Sorry."It was one word.She could speak in that situation.Then Ravi went in corner and started to phone Sunil so Shruti's party was spoiled because of Sunil's attitude.
Even after Ravi's repeated efforts Sunil didn't come to party.Finally Ravi had to cut the cake without Sunil.They could clearly feel that all guests were confused.The fun of the party was just vanished.Then whole time Ravi and Shruti continue to show that they were happy.But in heart they both were angry with each other.When finally party was over.Shruti already came on conclusion that she would never dare to throw party again.It was just waste of money.When they finished everything and sat in car to go home.They didn't even talk on whole drive.Then they rang bell.Sunil opened the door.Ravi"Sunil why didn't you come to party?""Papa don't you see that darkness?I hate it."Ravi got confused.Then it all suddenly became clear to him."Sunil you didn't came to party because of that mystery concept.""Of course.What did you thought?"Now Shruti started looking angrily at Ravi and Ravi looked embarrassed.Sunil"What happened?I hope you have not argued with New Mom just on this issue?Papa now she will hate me and blame me.Oh god!!I hope you don't say anything before guests."When Ravi didn't answer it,Sunil knew the truth.He was so shocked.He was trying so hard to show all that he was not creating any trouble for his new Mom.But after Ravi's reaction everyone would guess the truth.The truth was that he didn't like his step mother.But it was a universal rule at first everyone find it hard to accept step parent.But slowly every kid get adjust.Sunil believed this statement from his friends so he was trying to adjust.After all his mother was replaced and he had to accept it.But he could clearly see anger in Shruti's eyes.He thought that Shruti would insult him now.But instead of saying something she just went inside her room.Sunil was little bit relieved.
Ravi was very nervous when he went to talk to Shruti.He did one of the worst mistake in life.He unnecessarily screamed on Shruti.Ravi"Shruti I am sorry.Can't forgive me?""I just don't understand.Why did he act like that?Did he hate me that much?""Come on Shruti.It's not true.He is really scared of dark."Shruti smiled in a way that made it clear to Ravi that she didn't believe him at all."You are telling me that your son is scared of dark.Come on he is a college going boy.""But he is still scared of darkness.""Now will you stop lying?Sunil is not small boy to be scared of dark.""Why don't you..""Now it's enough.We both will just forget it.Let's watch some movie and enjoy remaining day."After that they both avoided that chapter.But next day Sunil brought it up again.Sunil"Shrutimom why did you do that strange decoration?""Because I love mystery.""Strange indeed.But on birthday you should not decorate like Halloween.My Mom used to say it is bad omen."Shruti was nervous now.She never thought this way.Ravi was also confused.They just didn't know that if Sunil's statement was true.Ravi"Why did it bring bad luck?Who told you that nonsense?""Come on Papa can't you see it.Less light;people dressed like vampire.It is really odd taste.You know it don't sound normal to me.I mean that it is not good."Ravi"What are you talking about?""Papa I know a sound like old man.But since my Mom's death.I just don't want to take risk.ShrutiMom I hope you understand."Shruti had understood it very well.In fact she was very scared about it.She didn't want to bring bad luck on her family.She always thought that it was normal thing.Before her marriage she used to do it on her every birthday party.But after hearing Sunil's opinion she got scared.Shruti"You are right.It was bad idea.Actually it was my first time so I messed it up."Sunil smiled."It's nothing ShrutiMom.Mistake can easily happen.But your choices are strange.Ravi"He is right.Look at me."Then everyone started laughing.Even Sunil managed to laugh so problem was solved.
After that Shruti started thinking about her strange tastes liking horror was something sick.Sunil had convinced her.She throw away all horror films and books in a bag where they stored things which they rarely use.Shruti decided that she must had some strange problem so she had to stop it.But slowly this restriction started irritating her.She started feeling restless day by day.One day finally Ravi convinced her and forced her to buy some suspense book.When she started reading it,she felt something near normal.Every thing was okay.But Shruti still didn't like Sunil's attitude towards her.One day while they were sleeping Shruti heard strange screams from room of Sunil.She knew that every day Sunil kept his door locked.It was an sound proof room full of privacy so those screams were coming from window.Sunil must had opened his windows.Shruti was scared.She never guessed such a time of crisis and worst thing was that Ravi was in office.That day he informed Shruti that he might not able to come home so Shruti was completely alone in her room.Shruti was very scared after hearing Sunil's voice.She was about to go out when she thought that what if thief was entered in house.Shruti would be useless before that thief.She had to use her brain before going out or she would just get herself murdered or..She just didn't want to think about it.Then she heard his scream once again.She was very confused now.If she didn't go out,it would be shameful and she would had to live with guilt for whole life and if she went and something happened to her.What did she achieve by just being killed by Sunil's side.Then she suddenly remembered her mobile.She dialed Ravi's number.When he picked up her phone,at first she started crying.She could clearly felt that she was scaring him.But she could help it.Finally she controlled herself and told him everything.Then Ravi asked "Did you on the light?"She suddenly noticed that she was feeling the heat.Then she looked at fan.It was stopped."My god!I think electricity is gone.""Then Sunil must be screaming because of this.""What?.."Before he could answer heard.Shruti heard banging on her door.Sunil was screaming"ShrutiMom!!ShrutiMom!!Open the door.Take me inside.Please help me."Sunil was screaming and banging her door.She just didn't know what to do.Then she took decision.She picked a iron rod from window curtain and slowly opened the door.As soon as Sunil entered inside,she just pushed that door and shut it.Sunil hugged her and started crying.Then suddenly lights were started and Sunil stood straight.Shruti"Sunil what happened?Is someone still outside?""Who?Are you mad?There was no one out there.I was just scared of dark."After saying this he went out as if nothing had happened.Ravi was still screaming on phone.Finally Shruti picked it up and told him everything.Ravi"He is like that since childhood.""What?""I will tell you everything when I will come home.""Can't you come home early I am little scared?""Now be brave.I have finished my work and I am coming."Shruti was relieved to hear this.
Then their door rang.Shruti ran to open the door.On that moment once again lights went away.Shruti was confused.She was searching for the lock.When Ravi screamed form outside.Ravi"What is this?Once again electricity is gone?"Shruti could clearly hear his voice and about to open the door.When suddenly Sunil grabbed her hand,Shruti was shocked."Sunil what are you doing?Let me open the door Ravi is waiting outside.""How can you be so sure?It could any one.""Come on I can recognize his voice and you can also recognize it very well.Now come on Sunil.It is not a joke.Your Papa was coming home from office..""I don't trust that man.He is not my Papa.""Sunil are you out of your mind?Let me open the door."Then Shruti started insisting to open the door.Sunil forcibly stopped her.Slowly Shruti started screaming on him.Her voice started reached outside.Ravi could hear clearly and slowly neighbour started gathering.They all were carrying candles."What happened Ravi?"Ravi was confused now.Ravi"Shruti is trying to open the door.But Sunil is not letting to do it.""What?Why did he acting like that?"Ravi clearly saw worst suspicions on all faces.He got more upset and started banging the door loudly."Sunil let me in."Shruti"Ravi he is not listening to me.You said that he is scared of darkness.But you never said that he is mad.""Sunil open the door.""No.You can fool ShrutiMom but you can't fool me.I know you are not my Papa.My Mom told me not to open the door and I opened it.You killed my Mom."Ravi was shocked.Ravi"Sunil open the door.What are you talking about?Your Mom was died due to heart attack.""She got it because she opened the door in dark."
Shruti was too confused now.She could clearly see that Sunil was scared.He was actually shivering.His whole body was wet due to sweat.She didn't think that this kind of tension was good for him.She knew that his mother was died due to heart attack in young age.But she never guessed that it created so such effect on Sunil.Shruti"Sunil just relax.Such tension was not healthy for you."Sunil started suddenly screaming on her."Just shut up.No one is going to open that door."Then he started holding door so that he could get support.She could clearly saw something was happening to him and it was not good sign.Then she thought an idea.She remembered her spare key.She slowly took and pushed it under the door.She was so scared that Ravi might not notice it.But after some moment she felt that key was moved in key hole.Sunil felt the same thing and he started screaming and finally he fainted.When Ravi entered in the house,Sunil was already fainted.They all gathered around him.The ambulance was called.Sunil was admitted in hospital.They did all tests and told them that it happened due to tension.Then finally they suggested that they should take Sunil to psychiatrist.As soon as Sunil became healthy.They took him to psychiatrist.Sunil started telling him these story."That day when Mom got heart attack.Actually Mom was putting all vegetables in refrigerator.Then suddenly light went out.I was so thrilled to see this.I just loved that darkness.I thought that it was like mystery novel.Then suddenly door bell rang.My Mom was screaming and telling me not to open the door.But I didn't listen to it and opened that door.I thought that it was Papa.But it was just courier.That man gave me a envelope to give.But same moment Mom came running outside.She thought that man was trying to hurt me.She screamed and died on the spot.At that moment I never thought that my mistake lead me to this.""But it was not your mistake your Mom's heart was weak.It was just matter of luck."But Sunil was not listening just crying.His crying didn't seem to stop.Finally doctor called ward boys and took him to room.They gave him sleeping injection.Then Doctor told them"He is suffering from Post traumatic Stress Disorder.Due to his mother's death it happened.You have to admit him now."Shruti got scared now.She didn't want him to be admitted now.If he was admitted now,everyone would think that Shruti did it with intention.Shruti tried to convince Doctor about it.But Doctor didn't agree.He said that they were already late.They couldn't wait anymore so Sunil got admitted.It was worst day of Shruti's life after that for her whole life she always remained a bad stepmother in every one's eyes.But she couldn't change any one.Shruti just went ahead with her life at least Ravi didn't blame her and Sunil didn't seem to be interested to blaming any one.Sunil just went ahead with his life.But he was never interested in accepting Shruti or her children.He just went to hostel and kept away from them.He just wanted his Mom.But he knew that he couldn't get her.
